Brazilian GP - Round 1/16 - Race

The cars line up, the red light comes on and they wait for the green light and it's go go go...

Mitchell makes a fantastic start goes straight into 1st before the 1st corner. Unser Jr gets held up and falls down to 8th. Ben Fleet runs out the outside of the 2nd corner and jumps to 9th. Patrese follows close behind and gets to 11th. Mallon is very sluggish away and is done to 18th. Von Gottorp uses the outside of the 2nd corner and is up to 15th.

At the back it gets tight, Blackwell makes an awful start and is tapped by Gawron who runs to the outside and is up to 19th. Blackwell moves to the centre and Davies with nowhere to go runs overs his wheel and is in the air, thankfully there is no damage.

Winson has a poor start, and is weaving all over the track and gets caught up i the queue of cars in front of him, Koczo who has made a fantastic start but brakes to avoid the Blackwell / Davies coming together jumps to the inside and accelerates fast but does not brake quick enough and smashes into the back of Winsons car and has a destroyed front wing, a trip to the pits for him.

In the first lap, only hte Benetton cars manage to overtake, Nicolo takes White on the straight and Jones takes Fleet a litle behind him.

At the end of the first lap. The order is

1 - Mitchell (+3)
2 - McReynolds (-1)
3 - Roos (-1)
4 - Nicolo (+2)
5 - White (-2)
6 - Nash (+1)
7 - Kickert (+2)
8 - Unser Jr (-3)
9 - Jones (-1)
10- Fleet (+2)
11- Patrese (+2)
12- Mils (-2)
13- Melrose (-2)
14- Vitkin (+2)
15- Von Gottorp (+3)
16- Groves (-2)
17- Briggs (+3)
18- Mallon (-3)
19- Gawron (+4)
20- Blackwell (+1)
21- Waladi (-4)
22- Winson (-3)
23- Davies (-1)
24- Lavezzi (+1)
25- Mori (+1)
26- Koczo (-2)

The first lap is done and Mitchell pulls out a 1.7 second lead over McReynolds. Gawron gets it very wrong the second corner after the straight and spins into the wall drops to 23rd.

At the end of Lap 4 the standings are

Mitchell
McReynolds +2.87
Roos +3.11
Nicolo +4.14
White +4.45
Nash +4.86
Kickert +5.53
Unser Jr +6.80,
Jones +7.40
Mils +8.21
Fleet +9.10
Patrese +12.90
Vitkin +15.01
Von Gottorp +15.34
Groves +16.15
Melrose
Briggs
Waladi
Winson
Blackwell
Mallon
Lavezzi
Davies
Mori
Gawron
Koczo

Lap 5, Jones takes Unser Jr in a great move, can things get any worse for Unser Jr? Roos tries to take McReynolds but McReynolds holds the racing line, Nicolo tries to take Roos but again is forced back. Roos manages to pass McReynolds on the Straight, Mils also manages to take Unser Jr too.

At then end of Lap 6, Mitchell now has a 4.58 second lead, 2nd to 7th is covered by a mere 2.3 seconds. Nicolo takes McReynolds on the 1st corner to move to 3rd

Lap 8, Roos pulls out a 1.5 second gap over Nicolo. Winson overtakes Briggs for 17th. Heartbreak for McReynolds as he retires with a transmission problem, he will not be happy being the first man out.

Lap 9, Gawron has a wobble and Davies breezes past to recapture 22nd. Groves takes Von Gottrop for 13th using the extra engine power on the straight.

Lap 10 is the first of the pit stops as Mils comes in and promptly drops to 22nd. what were Aurora thinking? Winson also pits drops to 24th

On Lap 11, Gawron is scared out of the way by Mils just before hairpin before straight, loses car and spins down to 23rd. Davies seems to do the same after the straight and spins out of the way, drops from 20th to 21st.

The pitstops come in thick and fast as Fleet, Von Gottrop and Gawron all come in. Mils over takes Lavezzi, Lavezzi runs wide and spins on pit straight.

It is only lap 12 and Gawron has the honour of being the first to be lapped. Lavezzi is having an awful day as he spins on pit straight again.

Lap 13, Jones is first of front runners to pit, Kickert and Davies also pits.

Mallon gets it very wrong after straight and spins down to 20th. Waladi in 14th overtaken by team mate fleet, gets line wrong and spins down to 17th. Patrese spins after straight drops from 7th to 18th

Before the lap ends, Mitchell pits from 1st

Lap 14, Blackwell spins after 2nd corner after straight and gets hit by Waladi who breaks his wing. Mallon spins again after Straight, he seems very uncomfortable in that car.

White, Groves, Melrose and Waladi pits

Briggs in 8th is overtaken by Jones and then spins down to 12th, she will not be happy with that.

Oh my goodness, Winson, from 20th enters the pitlane too fast and destroy his suspension and wing, and loses a wheel, he has retired. It is hard to tell if he did not want to go in to the pit, if he had brain fade or a mechanical issue.

Lap 15, Nash pits as does Briggs

Up front, Roos is leading, Nicolo is +4.44 behind and Unser Jr is third +12.33 off the lead. Mitchell who has stopped is in 4th and is only +24.22 behind. Vitkin in 5th has also yet to stop

As i say that Jones takes Vitkin on straight

Lap 16, Vitkin must be flustered about being overtaken as he gets it wrong after the straight and drops to 10th.

Roos tries to lap Gawron but is too impatient and spins to 3rd, it could be said that Gawron should have moved out of the way. Waladi spins as he tries to overtake Lavezzi for 22nd. Mori misjudges the 1st corner and drops from 15th to 20th

Lap 17, Von Gottrop is overtaken by Melrose for 16th and misjudges corner, drops to 20th.

Nicolo pits from lead. Unser Jr goes into lead but he does not even hold it for even for one corner as Roos overtakes him to regain the lead.

Lap 18, Nicolo rejoins in 5th.

Gawron overtakes Mori for 20th, Mori goes onto grass and spins. Briggs takes Patrese for 14th, Briggs runs wide slows and Melrose takes 15th from him.

Lap 19, Mori is the only person to put on this lap

Roos leads, Unser Jr +1.12 behind, Mitchell only +4.65 behind them.

Blackwell is having a horrible race as he spins and drops from 12th to 16th, Briggs a little behind gets distracted and spins and drops from 13th to 20th, but it has not finished as Patrese spins just behind and drops from 15th to 19th

Lap 20, Patrese retires with Transmission failure, could this have been what caused his spin or did he damage it from the spin?

Blackwell pits from 17th, looking rather sheepish as he stops.

Roos tyres are worn as he spins after the straight from 1st to 10th but he decides to enter the pits to try and save his race.

Lap, Lavezii spins let again, spinning at least 4 times around after messing up the 2nd corner.

Kozco pits from 16th, Unser Jr pits from 1st, Virkin pits from 10th

Lap 22, another driver having a horrible race is Briggs, who spins on corner before pit straight and drops from 17th to 21st

Ot the end of Lap 24, the palces are as follows.

Mitchell
Nicolo +8.41
Jones +17.72
Nash +18.89
White +21.24
Fleet +22.56
Mils +32.70
Kickert +34.16
Unser Jr +38.29
Grove +52.81
Melrose +56.93
Roos +58.53
Mallon +1:12.916
Vitkin 1:16.583
Von Gottrop +1:23.301
Gawron +1:31.50
Blackwell +1 Lap
Davies +1 Lap
Koczo +1 Lap
Mori +1 lap
Briggs +1 Lap
Lavezii + 1 lap
Waladi +2 Laps

Lap 26, Waladi has a puncture and slams heavily into a wall, he has retired but we hope he is okay.

Nash very close to Jones, tries to overtake for 3rd and runs out of talent, spining but skillfully avoiding the wall. Drops to 6th

Lap 27, there are close battles for 7th and 8th between Mils and Unser Jr with less then a tenth between them and 10th and 11th between Groves and Roos with 3 tenths between them.

Jones makes a mess of trying to overtake Davies, White tries his luck but runs wide, Fleet passes to take 4th from him. Fleet however runs wide in the next corner and smashes into Waladis car which is sitting on the side of the track, smashing his wing. Fleet recovers to the road where Nash smacks into the back of him, both head into the pits, but Nash is carrying too much speed and forces Fleet off the pit lane back onto the track. Nash smacks the pit wall and destroys his nose cone but manages to get to his pitbox.

Fleet is now forced to do a lap with a broken front wing and promptly loses a place to Mils.

Mitchell makes a rookie error and goes too fast into the last corner and spins, takes a while to recover and drops to 4th, Nicolo is in the lead. Blackwell gets caught up in the melee and spins too.

At the end of the lap it is

Nicolo
Jones +11.05
White +16.58
Mitchell +24.14
Mils +28.82
Fleet +28.810 (but probably not going to be in 6th for too long)
Unser Jr +30.02

Lap 28, Nash rejoins in 9th

Nicolo tries to lap Gawron, but makes a mess of it, again it could be said that Gawron is not leaving enough row. Davies unlaps himself and already lapped Lavezii taps his tyres and Nicolo spins, but recovers well and has only lost 4 seconds and still has a 2 second lead over Jones.

White pits from 3rd

Lap 29, Kickert makes a mistake trying to lap Mori and spins from 8th to 11th. Fleet in 8th and has lost over 35 seconds, finally pits for a new nose cone Groves in 9th retires with a Transmission problem just as he goes down the pit straight.

Briggs spins again, now in 22nd (and last...)

Lap 30 and Mitchell is closing in fast.

Nicolo
Jones +2.61
Mitchell +14.24
Mils +20.26
Unser Jr +20.91
Nash +34.13
White +34.47
Roos +41.69
Kickert +47.53
Vitkin +58.78

Lap 31 and Unser Jr is trying to pass Mils but although Unser Jr is faster in the corners, Mils has a higher straight line speed and just can not get past.

Gawron spins again at the last corner after the straight and drops from 13th to 17th. Takes and age to get back on the track. Has a damaged wing and will pit. Drops to 19th and drives blindly into the track. Vitkin is is in a battle with fleet, fleet goes left and Vitkin goes right and smashes straight into Gawron, losing a wheel and retiring on the spot. Gawron suffers no other damage and goes into pits. There will be people saying what was Gawron doing driving onto the track and then just stopping?

Lap 33, Gawron unlaps herself against Mallon, who spins after the straight. Nicolo has to brake hard to avoid an accident, Jones laps Lavezii again and closes right up on Nicolo, he has to brake to stop smashing into Nicolo but he knows if he jinked one way or another he would have passed.

Mitchell seems confused about his line and runs wide and spins and drops from 3rd to 5th, which is a shame as he was catching Nicolo and Jones hand over fist.

Lap 34 and the order is

Nicolo
Jones +0.25
Mils +14.71
Unser Jr +15.53
Mitchell +20.06
Nash +20.87
White +21.89
Roos +34.60

Lap 35, Mallon spins again, drops from 12th to 14th. Kickert pits from 9th, Davies from 15th, Mils from 3rd, Melrose pits from 10th

Lap 36, Jones pits from 2nd, Mitchell Pits from 4th.

Kickert unlaps himself against Nicolo who makes a massive error and runs wide and spins, has to wait an age to rejoin circuit and drops to 7th, including from Jones who pitted. Any hopes of winning this race do seem to have vanished for Nicolo.

Blackwell runs out of talent and goes in to fast into the final corner smacking the wall and breaking his suspension. Was in 17th, his boss will not be too happy at him in the pits.

Lap 37. Kickert is driving like his life depends on it setting a new fastest lap of 1:29.134

It is all going wrong for Nicolo as Mitchell overtakes for 7th, Nicolo runs wide and spins off. Fleet overtakes too although Fleet runs wide after the straight, Nicolo taking back the place lost.

Lavezii seems to be spending the whole race spining as he goes off two corners before the pit straight.

Lap 38, It is looking good for Jones with the order being

Unser Jr
Nash +2.97
White +3.39
Jones +9.01
Roos +15.37
Mils +22.64
Mitchell +28.92
Nicolo +47.16
Fleet +52.62

Mallon pits from 14th. Melrose tries to lap Gawron, Gawron keeps her line forceforcely and causes Melrose to go off and spin. Does Gawron know how to use mirrors?

Lap 39, Unser Jr pits from the lead, where will he feed back in?

Briggs is slow out of the way of Roos who is trying to overtake, Roos looks like he has lost it but catches his car before it spins.

Lap 40, Unser Jr joins back in 7th and has enough fuel to the end of the race. Everyone in front of him including Jones needs to come in for fuel. Jones just seems to be a few laps of fuel short, Benetton will be asking some questions later.

Briggs spins off again. Mori pits from 17th in what should be his final stop. Koczo also pits.

Melrose tries to lap Gawron again, but this times just gets it wrong and spins off without help from Gawron.

Lap 41, Nicolo pits from 9th, rejoins in 10th with enough fuel to the end of the race.

Jones overtakes Nash for the lead. Mils is challenging Roos, but Roos comes into the pits from 4th.

Lap 42, Lavezii pits and hardly anyone notices.

Nicolo shows Melrose how to lap Gawron Melrose spins before the pit lane, he tries to spin the car around but then gives up and gets out, we are not sure of why he retires. We hope he or the team tell us. It has been an awful day for the Stavros GP team.

Lap 43, Mitchell comes in for his final stop from 5thm Kickert pits from 9th, Von Gottrop pits from 11th

Lap 44, Mils pits from 4th, Briggs pits from 16th

Roos takes Fleet for 7th, Fleet runs a little wide but loses no places.

Mils is battling hard to try and get out in front of Roos, he cuts across the pit lane exit to the track and oooooh my goodness straight into the path of Roos, Roos tries to move out of the way but is going to fast, he flies high and crashes down heavily, breaking the left side of his suspension and loosing both wheels. He is out. Mils does not seem to suffer any damage and continues on. We hope Roos is okay. a bad day for Fighting Mongooses, although both drivers have done well this race.

Lap 45, Nash pits from 2nd and rejoins in 4th ahead of Mitchell who has already pitted.

Davies spins from 12th. Mallon is in 13th and caught up.

Jones still needs to pit, White still needs to pit and is +8.3 behind, Unser Jr does not need to pit and is 22.43 seconds behind.

Lap 46, Jones and White still do not pit.

The order is

Jones leads
White +8.44
Unser Jr +21.61
Nash +32.01
Mitchell +45.16
Mils +51.85
Fleet +1.03.15
Nicolo +1.08.58

Gawron pits from 15th, Jones pits from the lead

Lap 47, Mitchell passes Jones as he exits the pits, Mitchell is in 4th

Lap 48, Davies is lapped by Nicolo, Davies gets the exit from the corner after the straight wrong and spins off, loses 12th to Mallon.

Everyone up to Von Gottrop has been lapped at least once.

Lap 49, White still does not pit, the order is

White
Unser Jr +12.57
Nash +17.78
Mitchell +32.48
Jones +33.33
Mils +39.95
Fleet +56.09
Nicolo +58.81
Kickert +1:13.98
Gottorp 1L (33.3 behind Kickert)
Mallon 1L (55.1 behind Von Gottorp)
Koczo 1L (8.5 behind Mallon)
Davies 1L (1.3 behind Koczo)
Mori 1L (8.7 behind Davies)
Gawron 2L (38.0 behind Mori)
Lavezii 2L (38.1 behind Gawron)
Briggs 2L (16.7 behind Lavezii)

Koczo spins from 11th, 2nd corner from Straight and loses 11th to Mallon.

White, Fleet and Davies are the only drivers yet to pit

Lap 50, Fleet pits from 7th, drops to 9th. White pits from the lead, takes an age to refuel. Rejoins in 6th

Lap 51, Jones is challenging Mitchell for the final podium spot.

Lap 52, The order is

Unser Jr
Nash +1.52
Mitchell +17.69
Jones +18.03
Mils +25.40
White +36.48

Lavezii runs wide after pit straight corner and loses 16th to Briggs, Koczo also runs wide, but recovers however Davies overtakes, Koczo cuts across, he goes flying and into the wall breaking his front wing. Davies and Mori gain a place.

Jones is all over the back of Mitchell, surely only a matter of time before he takes the lead, but as I say that Nash retires with a Transmission failure at the hairpin before the straight, he will be crying to himself in his helmet.

Mallon spins 2 corners before the pits, Davies and Mori overtake. Davies is in the pits. Mori is now in 11th but is 1:30 behind Von Gottorp.

Lap 53, Mallon retires a few corners later with a transmission failure.

Lap 54, The order is

Unser Jr
Mitchell +17.04
Jones +17.64
Mils +25.65
White +30.12
Nicolo +46.17
Kickert
Fleet

Davies wants to catch Mori for Pride, but he is behind the Mitchell and Jones battle and is catching Jones in the corners due to his fresh rubber. However Jones will be unhappy if Davies tries to uplap hiself. However Mori is lapped by Von Gottrop, Gottrop touches Mori who spins and drops from 11th to 12th. Davies also takes Gawron for 10th.

Lap 55, Von Gottorp is in 9th and 1 lap down, Davies, Gawron, Mori, Koczo, Briggs are 2 laps down and Lavezii is 3 laps down.

Lap 56, White takes Mils on the corner before the pit straight and is now in 4th.

The order is

Unser Jr
Mitchell +16.96
Jones +18.14
White +28.67
Mils +29.21
Nicolo +46.58
Kicert +1:01.54
Fleet +1:03.90
Von Gottorp +1L
Davies +2L
Gawon +2L
Koczo +2L
Mori +2L
Briggs +2L
Lavezzi +3L

Lap 57, Mils under no pressure loses it on the 2nd corner after the straight but loses no places or suffers any damage.

Lap 58, Now we can see why Mils spun, he seemed to have Suspension damage and now retires from 5th. The principal is holding his head in his hands, waiting for the call that Mitchell has retired.

Lap 59, Lavezii is weaving all over the track, runs wide after 2nd corner after straight and loses his nose cone. Spins before the pits too. It begs the question is he really F1 material?

Lap 60

The order in the last lap but one is

Unser Jr
Mitchell +16.30
Jones +18.86
White +27.45
Nicolo +46.34,
Kicert +1:03.57
Fleet +1:04.23
Von Gottorp +1L

Koczo in 12th retires with an Engine issue, it seems the Gordini tuned engine does have some issues.

Fleet is all over Kickert, he wants that 6 place.

Lap 61, Unser Jr wins many seconds down the road from Mitchell and Jones. Fleet tries one desperate move to move up but runs wide and looks like he will settle for 7th. Mori runs wide and loses his nose cone, thankfully he won't have to pit and will not lose any places.

The Aurora team is very satisfied with this first race. Seeing now that we can get a car to finish, we would like to spend 5% of our credits on reliability and another 5% to motivate Mils to get over this failure and raise his pace.

Drivers to be investigated

After causing preventable accidents Joanna Gawron and Carlitos Mils will be investigated by the stewards. If found guilty, they could be fined, suspended or even have their superlicence revoked.

Mils admits he misjudged the braking distance. This is why he took out Roos for which he apologises for.
We are willing to take any penalty for this mishappening.

Great day for Hungarian Life with a double finish. Both drivers did their best, points are not that far, as we thought.

We were having a decent race too.

Clio Racing Team press release:

Whilst we are a little disappointed Zetticci failed to get past main qualifying, Koczo did himself the world of good. A couple of early spins put him towards the back, without this he mightve been looking at a top-10 finish, and the engine still hasn't been properly tested, so it's no surprise to see it let go. But our first classified finish gives us a lot of confidence to improve. It's clear we are going to be at the back this year, so hopefully we can capitalize on a few attrition-hit races and pick a few points up.

Autosport Journalist wrote:So Daniel, you are justifiablely upset at Gawron for driving like a rock ape. However the second time you tried to overtake her, she was a car length or two in front, so why did you spin and why did you later spin before the pit entry and it looked to us that you were trying to spin the car back to face the right way but you just got out and walked back to the pits, was there any damage or did you just have enough of the day?

Round 2/16 - Pheonix will have prequalifying on Friday, Qualifying on Saturday and race on Sunday. It promises to be a cracker.

Any comments on my race summary? Do you want free practice results before prequalifying?

Overall a good race, although it did feel like no one wanted to win the race with drivers spinning off left and right. Unser Jr drove a mistake free race and got a great reward.

Fighting Mongooses - Did well and should have got on the podium, but McReynolds had a early transmission failure and Mils ran straight into the path of Roos giving him no chance. B

Aurora - Mitchell should have won but made too many mistakes and was lucky with second, he should have won by a good margin. Mils did some stupid rookie mistakes but was unlucky not to finish in the points. B-

Sunshine - Unser Jr just drove a reasonable race, keeping pace and not spinning and reaped the rewards. Macklin drove into the pitwall at speed to retire, we think he was trying to get back to the track after a moment and failed. B+

Benetton - Drove well and got some good points, however Nicolo had the pace to win but threw it away. Jones did well to get a podium. B

European - Kickert was fantastic getting a fastest lap but his pace was lacking in some parts of the race. Nash was unlucky to retire as he would have taken Unser Jr and won the race. A-

JLD - White drove a good race and came away with some good points, however Gawron was a menace to everyone and caused far too many accidents and got in so many peoples way. D+

Chicago - Fleet was fast but did make too many mistakes, he should have use the brake pedal when him and nash were going into the pits, he could have been on the podium. Waladi was looking like a rookie driver and span all over the place. C

Foxdale - Unlucky to be in prequalifying but the point could be enough to get them out of the Prequalifying battle. Von Gottorp drove a steady race, made some mistakes but was consistant. Briggs was off the pace and just couldn't get the car to stick to the road. B-

Hungarian Life - Had a steady if unspectacular race, they do need more speed. C+

Clio Racing - Koczo did well in the race and could have got a top ten finish. C

EXTRAS - Lavezzi span too much and was well off the pace, Patrese was doing well and coudl have scored points. D+

Donkervoort - Mallon was racing above his station in places and was unlucky to reitre. C-

Stavros GP - Both drivers made soo many mistakes, it was embarassing to watch at times. E+

Phoenix - Were doing well, both Groves and Vitkin were on course for points. Vitkin just having bad luck. B-

West Midland - Mann did well in prequalifying, Schussler did not. E

Zimsport - Well off the pace, but improving. E+

Welsh MRA - Off the pace and need improving. E-

Russian Bears - The Engine was whining away and the drivers look out of their depth. F

However the second time you tried to overtake her, she was a car length or two in front, so why did you spin and why did you later spin before the pit entry and it looked to us that you were trying to spin the car back to face the right way but you just got out and walked back to the pits, was there any damage or did you just have enough of the day?

You would need to spend 15% of your original budget ($1300) for long term improvememnts or $195 you have just under 10% so I would suggest spending 2.5% of your budget ($32.5) on yuor drivers instead. and maybe the rest on your engine or chassis?

FIA Report wrote:Drivers Suspended.

In the last few minutes the FIA announced their report on the two big accidents that happened at the Brazilian Grand Prix. They listened to all the evidence from the drivers and race stewards, watched the replays and studied the telementry data. They concluded that both drivers that caused the accident were guilty of dangerous driving.

Joanna Gawron racing for JLD Motorsports, spun her car all through the race, failed to get out of the way of overtaking drivers and bumped into a lot of drivers. However her spin and attempt to get back on the track, where she stopped blocking half the track, caused Dimitry Vitkin from Team Phoenix to smash into her car where he sustained damage that caused him to retire. Joanna Gawron was lucky and suffered minor damage and completed the race.

Carlitos Mils racing for Aurora Motorsports, had a good race and was battling with Theodore Roos of the Fighting Mongoose team, Roos pitted first on Lap 41 and on Lap 44, Mils pitted and in his haste to try and get out in fron of Roos, he came out of the pits and just cut straight across the path of Roos, Roos tried to move to the right to avoid Mils but hit his tyres went very high in the air and landed breaking his suspension and losing both left hand wheels. Mils suffered no damage but retired later in the race with suspension damage.

Joanna Gawron will recieve a 4 race suspension staring from the next race, however after two race suspensions, the suspension will be suspended. JLD Motorsports will also be fined $20,000

Carlitos Mils will recieve a 2 race suspension starting from the next race, however after the one race suspension the suspension will be suspended. Aurora motsports will also be fined $10,000

Teams can appeal against the sentence, although a failed appeal can lead to an extra sentence.

Teams will be able to use a substitute driver but they will not be able to enter free practice.

To Wizzie and Shizuka,

The fines will be removed from your remaining budget.
To give the other drivers a chance you can pick 2 drivers from the prequalifying mob, one of these drivers must be from the 8 drivers that did not prequalify for Brazil (West Midland, Welsh MRA, Russian Bears and Zimsport), the other can be any of the 16. In the event both drivers you have picked happen to qualify then you will be given a driver at random and they shall attempt to qualify for you.

Foxdale Auto Racing #22- Florence Briggs #23 - Leonhard Von Gottorp
Donkervoort #24 - Donald Mallon, #25 - Mitchell Macklin
Hungrian Life #26 - Rhys Davies, #27 - Barii Mori
West Midland F1 #28 - Douglas Mann, #29 - Andres Schussler
Zimsport #30 - Shinobu Katayama, #31 - Federico Rotondo
Welsh Motor Racing #32 - Josh Morton, #33 - Joan Gene
Russian Bears #34 - Alexey Buyvolov, #35 - Nikolas Sarkozy

Hi Shadaza, YAFSYCJ fan here.

Adriansutil, my guess would be that if your team fails to prequalify, your drivers could be subbed in to one of the qualified teams. If you do qualify, this can't happen.

Note to SuperAguri, I think it should be beneficial to the teams that loan out their drivers somehow. give them a small "apperance bonus" or improve the driver a little. Other wise it seems a little unfair to have your drivers poached.

JeremyMcClean : No you may not, I wish I had remember to sace the replay file, but the crashes were so idiotic that if they happened in a race then there would be hell to pay.

AdrianSutil : No it means that if your team fails to prequalify then the drivers can try to qualify for the other team.

Shadaza: Hmm, good idea, I will give a small payment to the team that has their driver used. Should help them pay for upgrades.

Also any points scored by a driver on loan will not count for the teams championship to make it fairer. So if Douglas Mann wins a race then he gets 10 points but the winning team does and the points will not be awarded, so if Pieter Kickert comes 2nd then he gets 6 points and European still get 6 points.

That's like saying if Pedro De La Rosa had scored points at Canada this year, they would have counted for nothing. How is that remotely fair?

USA GP - Round 2/16 - Free Practice.

No big surprises in free practice. Roos managed to go nearly 4 tenths faster then Nicolo then it was thin margins between him and 5th place man McReynolds. Kickert continues to impress with Melrose being the last driver in the 1 minute 15s. Mitchell was disappointing in 9th as was Unser Jr who span at the corner before the pit enterance and never looked comfortable after that. Foxdale look like prequalifying easily as do Donkervoort. At the back Rhys Davies look well out of sorts, being over a second slower then Douglas Mann who also looked to have a problem. Pre qualifying will be tomorrow as will Qualifying.

USA GP - Round 2/16 - Prequalifying

Foxdale put in a stormer and Briggs and Gottorp were swapping fastest laps for most of the session. Donkervoort do enough to get through too. Douglas Mann puts the free practice behind him as he finds the speed to come 5th and get West Midland F1 into qualifying proper and it seems it is money well spent as Russian Bears just manage to get the last spot out of prequalifying.

Koczo will feel dissapointed at failing to prequalify despite being 3rd fastest as Dante Zetticci has a horrid time. Federico Rotondo improves and is a second faster then team mate Shinobu Katayama, in fact Zimsport were only 3 hundreths of a second off the 4th spot, if only Shinobu did not come across Rhys Davies in the final corner.

At the other end, former double champion, Rhys Davies will want to be on the first plane home as he has an horrible slow session which see him last and well off the pace. Joan Gene was well off the pace too as Welsh MRA fail to prequalify again, she managed to spin a few times too. Josh Morton also got it very wrong as he span 2 corners before the pits and got t-boned by Macklin, causing them both to have an early shower.

USA GP - Round 2/16 - Friday Qualifying

What a difference an afternoon makes, Rhys Davies this morning was the slowest man on the circuit and was packing to go home, but a call up from the Aurora team and a do or die drive sees the two time world champion top the time sheets and put him on provisional pole. Dan Unser Jr improves from this morning to go 5th. Benetton and European have lost some performance as they end up 7th to 10th. Ben Fleet span more times then was healthy but managed to end up 11th. Patrese was another man that could not find the grip when need and got t-boned by the unlucky Vitkin who had to run back to the pits to jump in the spare car as he lost a wheel. Koczo will be disappointed with his position given he has a more powerful car. The Foxdales look like qualifying easily again, although West Midland, Russian Bears and Macklin in the Donkervoort all look like they could miss the cut, it will be an exciting day tomorrow.

Clio Racing Team press release:

We are very disappointed at the pre-qualifying rules. Koczo set the third quickest time, yet doesn't qualify for Friday. We feel a rule change needs to be brought in soon, as drivers who have no business being in the main draw go through. We wish Koczo all the best with JLD, and hope to have him back for the next race.

The main problem is that with 4 team slots, you have to fill them. It is difficult to do, as this prequalifying 6 different teams filled the top 8 slots. I could reduce it to 6 drivers (so one driver teams are possible) but then no one would DNQ, but there would still be people that would feel cheated if their driver came in 6th and still didn't PQ because of the slots issue so having the teams times is the best way to do it (same with F1RWRS...)

You could say that Dante Zetticci is not performing well and try to get some ofhis wages back which you could use to improve him...

"It was a really disappointing session after the first race. We've had several problems and were quite far from qualifying. Too bad, but we have improvements in our plans, so our fans do not need to bey worry."

As Rhys Davies does very well, I assume, Aurora might want to give him a contract. Is this kind of driver trade possible (for a good price of course)?

USA GP - Round 2/16 - Saturday Qualifying

Theodore Roos laid down a challenge by breaking the 1:15 barrier, however Rhys Davies found more speed by going a few tenths faster. Greg Mitchell set a faster time the Ryan McReynolds who had a horrible time today, he managed to spin after the pit enterance, tried to reverse and spin, crashed into a wall and broke his front wing, span again and was handly placed to go straight into the pits. Apart from that there were no major changes.

At the foot of the grid, Andres Schussler did go faster but was still slowest of them all. Macklin also had issues and manage to spin three times, breaking his wing twice.
