Well we've got a mediocre driving lineup, but as a result we have a fair amount of money, and Gustav Brunner was/is one of the best designers when given low resources, so things are looking good-ish for AGS.

Senna to spearhead Tyrrell Renaissance?
Journalists were gathered today at Ockham to witness possibly one of the biggest shock signings of a close season in Formula 1, when the newly crowned 1989 world champion Ayrton Senna was unveiled as the new lead driver of the Tyrrell Formula 1 team. "This is a big day for Tyrrell" grinned an obviously happy Ken Tyrrell "We showed last season that we can mix it up and even beat the big 4 (Williams, McLaren, Ferrari and Benetton) on occasion, and this season we intend to take the fight to the top. We have Ayrton Senna, who is one of the finest drivers to have graced Formula 1, Ivan Capelli who has shown great promise and we believe that can be a success in the right machinery, and can also learn from the best, and Rory Bryne, our new chief designer who has plenty of experience with top teams and we believe can guide us into a bright long term future"

Indeed Senna is not the only top driver signing by what was until recently a midfield team. In 1989 Alain Prost signed for Arrows, leading to the team having a brilliant season, and possibly being key to them finishing above Tyrrell in 4th place. Some in the paddock believe that the signing of Senna may be a direct response counter the rising Arrows threat as a possible team rivalry could push both to challenge the top 3 of McLaren, Williams and Ferrari. Only time will tell if this is the case and a possible journey for Tyrrell back to the top of the Formula 1 pile
