Autosport wrote:Jones Slams Alitalia For Qualifying Shenanigans
In front of the assembled media following the F2RWRS qualifying session today, Sammy Jones blasted the Scuderia Alitalia team for ensuring his driver Terry Hawkin was held up, thus ruining his quick lap.
"I'm f***ing livid, Hansuke put a great lap in to go 5th, and I'm certain that Terry would have matched that at the very least, but the scumbags at Alitalia aren't content to ruin their own weekend, but feel the need to piss on their competitors too. Terry is only a couple of points behind the two Alitalia drivers in the championship, despite us having to deal with pre-qualifying for the first few races, and it's obvious they're shitting themselves at the thought of being shown up by a clearly superior driver in a team that's been operational for less than 4 months. The fact that Terry then picked up a caution for blocking Bastian later on is just salt in the wound. He was pissed off with that cretin, so what do the stewards expect? Do they honestly think he's just going to accept the fact that the Alitalia drivers are complete arsewipes and cruise back round to the pits content with the fact that his best lap is ruined and he'll start in the middle of bloody no-where?"
After his tirade, Jones pushed through the crowd and proceeded to urinate against the side of one of the Alitalia team's trucks.
Gazzetta Dello Sport wrote:Sassetti shrugs off whining by Jones Racing
After harsh criticism against their drivers in F2RWRS Qualifying in France, Andrea Sassetti has replied to Sammy Jones' scathing comments, saying the Brit needs to stop "whining about his own problems" and actually do something about them.
"It is funny to watch Jones rant, he is like a little kid throwing a tantrum because his parents don't buy him everything he asks for at the toy store," he said. "When Jones took a tantrum that we bought Trueba and they didn't play, we shared. And he still complained. Now he gets his own team, all he does is complain even more. Yes, our team has not done well lately, but doesn't that show we have far more potential? We are expected to do well, and we have two wins this season already. How many do Jones Racing have?"
"He whines too much about his own problems. Maybe if he spent less time acting like a spoiled child and more like a team principal, these things wouldn't happen. I'm not surprised by the way Hawkin reacted in the qualifying session, he is clearly learning from Jones to act out and shoot yourself in the foot when things don't go your way, instead of looking for a proper solution. Hawkin needs a better teacher, and we can open our door to him if he wants to win races in the future."
Sassetti then went on to comment about Alitalia's prospects for the race tomorrow; "The qualifying positions are not ideal, but I think if both Bastiaan and Andrej keep cool and methodically pick their way through the pack they will still get good results. There is no pressure on them from the start so perhaps this will help them."

After Tomo Kazama's brilliant win in Paul Ricard, Brett Johnson was very pleased, to say the least, of Tomo Kazama, the reigning F3RWRS champion. Kazama led from Lap 3 after passing Albertini for the lead and never looked back. However, teammate Micko Glotch had a completely different story; he qualified last (while Tomo claimed pole position) and Glotch was running near the back of the field before picking up a puncture and then retiring. "It wasn't even a bad puncture," said Johnson, "he could have brought it into the pitlane and we could have fixed it. But he sought it as an excuse to leave the race." Glotch, in five races, has not scored a single point, while Kazama is currently first in the championship with 32 points. No word yet on who will replace Glotch.

Alexey Buyvolov has been linked to the second Aston Martin seat following Micko Glotch's firing. The young Russian driver managed to escape from pre-qualifying after a marked improvement in Dofasco's fortunes, and impressed many team bosses with his great drive that was ended by an engine failure. No information has come from any party involved yet, but Buyvolov is undoubtedly in demand at the moment and Aston Martin would have to act fast to sign him up.

Corriere dello Sport wrote:Lindsay: Glotch is a crybaby
Scuderia Alitalia team boss Alasdair Lindsay has hit out at recently sacked Aston Martin driver Micko Glotch, after the latter filed a lawsuit for unfair dismissal. Glotch had failed to score a point during the whole 2015 season, while team-mate Tomo Kazama is currently leading the championship with 32 points to her name.
"With an attitude like this, Glotch is going to fail as a professional racing driver," commented Lindsay. "He was being absolutely destroyed by his team-mate, his team made absolutely the right decision to fire him. We are businesses, and any business should have the right to fire an employee who does not deliver to a reasonable standard."
"I had a brief chat with Andrej [Kremnicky] about this, he was at Aston Martin last season and said both he and Marchesi had equal treatment while he was with the team. Blaming the car and the team for his own shortcomings goes to show how poor a mentality Glotch has, the only way he can make it in racing now is to admit he doesn't have the same natural talent as Marchesi, but to put in hard work and grind away until he improves to a better level. There are drivers out there who maybe don't have the same skill level out of the box as others, but over their careers worked and worked and eventually scored good results."
"It's time for him to stop acting like a crybaby, man up, and take on this new challenge in his career with a better level of maturity."

In response to some rumours that Aston Martin boss Brett Johnson has been sleeping with lead driver Tomo Kazama in return for favourable treatment. "I was quite wrong in thinking that Micko would take this reasonably," said Johnson. "But he decides to make a mess out of it." Johnson also claims he had not heard from any lawyers about any lawsuits. He then defended his views that he was not sleeping with Tomo Kazama. "I have never done anything so outrageous as to sleep with any of my coworkers. I have a family with two kids, and to be quite frank, my wife suits me just fine, and I would never think of cheating on her. I wish he would think, even for a moment, before going off blaming people on 'evidence' from tabloids. And besides, when I fired him, I told him, 'it's not the treatment, it's not the car, it's not the mechanics, it's you.'" Johnson then refused to comment any further.

GLOTCH "BREACH OF CONTRACT" LAWSUIT THROWN OUT OF COURT
Former F2RWRS driver Micko Glotch was disappointed as his "breach of contract" lawsuit was thrown out of court. Johnston's lawyers claimed that Glotch had not performed well in his five races and therefore Johnston had every right to fire Glotch. "If the PM was underperforming," the lawyer says, "surely you'd like to fire him as well!" Glotch also claimed that Johnston was sleeping with Tomo Kazama in return for favourable treatment, but the lawyers proved that there was no evidence to support the claim. In the end, the judge said that "there was no evidence to support the plaintiff's claims," and the case was thrown out. Afterwards, Johnston was open to questions, and said "I just feel sorry for the taxpayers who had to pay for this frivolous lawsuit."

Following a good sequence of performances in F3RWRS, Marko Jantscher has been tipped for a move up to F2 for next season. The Austrian driver took his first podium with fledgling team Fusion Motorsports at Monaco, and he's hoping that a continuation of a good season will see him progress his career on a higher level. Team manager Jake Legge said "We've not begun negotiations as of yet as it's rather early in the season, but there's a good chance of him getting a seat if he keeps managing to perform. As Fusion won't be making the step up as of yet, we'd like to get him into ideally a front-running team to really showcase his ability." The team stress that he will complete the F3 season, but it has been suggested that he may want to get experience of the more powerful cars towards the end of the season.
Autosport wrote:TOMMY NASH RESIGNS FROM YOUNG LIONS, MOVES TO ASTON MARTIN
The Canadian F2RWRS driver has announced that he has resigned from the Holden Young Lions team to join the Aston Martin Motor Racing Team.
Aston Martin has recently sacked Micko Glotch due to poor performances, and were looking for new drivers. Nash presented himself after he was benched in favour of Daniel Melville, with little success.
Nash claims that his benching was not the main reason why he made the switch to Aston Martin.
"I was looking for further opportunities in my career," said Nash in the resulting press conference. "The way things were going at Holden, it was looking like things were not going to be good. And as much as I like Holden, I have to keep my career in check. I can't spend forever waiting to make my prescence known, I have to take the opportunities when I can."
Nash seemed thankful, but not regretful of his decision.
"I'd like to thank the Holden team for all the things they've done to help my career, including giving me my first F1RWRS drive. However, my main goal is to become F1RWRS champion one day, and unfortunately, I'm not going to do this by getting part-time drives."
Nash also said he was "very disappointed" that he wasn't in the running to replace Poppy Whitechapel when she left the F1RWRS team after Monaco.
"It's not that I don't like Melrose," said Nash, "it's that he's quite honestly the most overrated driver I've ever seen. He's way past his prime, and he just can't seem to find his dominant pace like he used to have. I don't like to judge other people's driving abilities, but surely he's got to know when to step aside and let a younger driver have the seat instead of a struggling superstar."
Before he left, Nash felt positive of his impact with Aston.
"I don't expect to compete directly with Tomo, as she is clearly the better driver and she has had more time with the car. I know I will have difficulties coming into the team mid-season, but I am positive that I can score points within the first three races.
For Brett Johnson's sake, let's hope he does.

Pre-Qualifying
It's safe to say that Ashley Lilly's Kingfisher career can now be measured in hours after debutant teammate Martin van der Maeyede did everything possible to haul Kingfisher into race day for the first time this year. It all turned out for naught as while Maeyede topped the times, Lilly speared off the road on his only hot lap in the dreadful conditions, before beaching it for good on the very next lap. The awful British weather also caught out Daniel Melville and Phil McCracken as they were the last to set their first lap times, right at the point where the track was at its worst, which meant neither HRT or Aeroracing made it into the Grand Prix. This left Dofasco and Gillet to pick up the spoils for the second race in succession as the latter continue on their quest to escape pre-qualifying permanently after this weekend.
