TEST -- 3rd July - Mugello
Weather condition: Dry
Alitalia focused the test on Race Simulations;
BEST LAP TIMES
1.Andrej Kremnicky (Alitalia) -- 1.34.994
2.Nathanael Spencer (Alitalia) -- 1.35.026
3.Bastian van Nieuwenhuijzen (Alitalia) -- 1.35.147
4.Tonu Pykalisto (Alitalia) -- 1.35.392
5.David Koczo (Alitalia) -- 1.35.549
6.Renaldo Jimenez (Alitalia) -- 1.36.283
7.Ben Fleet (Alitalia) -- 1.37.110
8.Nobushige Fukuda (Alitalia) -- 1.40.477
Out of the 8 drivers, only 3 completed a race simulation; David Koczo was fastest, followed by Jimenez and Fleet. The rest of the drivers retired because of mechanical problems.
Alitalia spent 8 credits, 192 left.

As he is
currently unemployed, would I get his credits if I took Saeed Al Faisal to a test? And does anyone else know of any free pay drivers? (BTW, I don't remember who Al Faisal's owner is, but, whoever you are, consider this an invitation to attend a mid-season test

Not if Simpson Motorsports beats you to hiring him...
(I think he was a second driver added to FAT Turbo Racing by Aerond as there was not a second driver in that team at the start of 2013).

I only just realised that at the last race, both Alitalia's failed to qualify using the lineup that won both the 2010 and 2011 Constructors titles. How times change.

I technically inherited him when I asset stripped er I mean merged FAT Turbo racing with Kamaha. He is listed as one of my 5 drivers in the FRWRS. Although his manager is the lovely Prince Falik. Although Al Faisal would be more intrested in a full time drive rather then a test.

Well if they were racing for a decent team then I am sure they would have done much better. As a note using both the current point system and the current F1 point system, David Koczo would have been world champion...

I checked and double checked and in the current point System, three drivers David Koczo, Dan BH and Frank Zimmer would have had 98 points, however Koczo had two wins over the one win each of BH and Zimmer, so Koczo wins the championship on count back, Dan BH has 3 second places over the one of Zimmer so Dan BH is 2nd and Zimmer is third...
Koczo - 2 Wins, 2nd, 3rd, 6th, 7th, 10th (25*2+18+15+8+6+1) = 98
Dan BH - Win, 3 2nds, 5th, 7th, 9th, 10th (25+18*3+10+6+2+1) = 98
F Zimmer - Win, 2nd, 2 3rds, 4th, 6th, 8th, 10th (25+18+15*2+12+8+4+1) = 98

RejectSport Magazine wrote:Finishing up the last batch of drivers. Long post alert.
Ben FleetTeam: Alitalia, Foxdale
Championship Position: =19 - 1 points
Best finish: 6th onceWait, Ben Fleet scored a point? When did that happen? Oh, he was driving for Foxdale? It has been a very vanilla season for Fleet, so let's discuss where Ben gets all his money from? Cigarettes? Oil? Criminal activity? RejectSport would like to call on Ben Fleet to disclose how he can pay his way into any seat on the grid, from DGNgineering to Alitalia!
Character Comparison: Sergio Perez, a very fast pay-driver
Weakness: Auditing firms
Grade: B+
Jari KekkonenTeam: Boxtel
Championship Position: =23 - 0 points
Best finish: 8th onceKekkonen's season has been a mixed bag. At times he is able to come close to Battani's pace but he is not immune to useless DNQs at some races. He has been slightly better than Spencer but Boxtel might be better off signing a pay-driver to collect funds at this point. The team's management has committed to a full season for Kekkonen, barring any injuries, and they appear to be sticking with their decision. Kekkonen still needs to perform better to deserve another shot for 2016, though.
Character Comparison: Heikki Kovalainen
Weakness: Alitalia
Grade: C+
Daniel MartinsTeam: Sunshine
Championship Position: =23 - 0 points
Best finish: 8th twiceInconsistency has always been the key to Daniel Martins' career but this year has brought a surprising end to that trend. Martins' up-and-down season last year got him fired from ArrowTech but the Katayama brouhaha (really rolls of the tongue, doesn't it) led to an unexpected resuscitation of his career. Unfortunately, the comeback tour hasn't gone over well as his teammate James Davies is proving to be a superior driver. Martins has not been too shabby but sustained mediocrity won't go down well with the unstable management at Sunshine. Martins needs more points and fewer DNQs (but doesn't everybody?).
Character Comparison: Vitantonio Liuzzi
Weakness: The Bee Gees
Grade: C-
David KoczoTeam: Alitalia
Championship Position: =23 - 0 points
Best finish: 10th twiceSo far, his season has been dominated by the "Early Retirement-gate" and "Oh-shite, I better get back in the car before Alasdair Lindsay sues me-gate" (ERG and OSIBGITCBALSMG, respectively). But in terms of performance, the morality of Koczo's decision and its effect on the wider world is a moot point. Koczo has been limited by the poor Alitalia chassis but he is escaping pre-qualifying on a regular basis. He has carried the Alitalia team to relevance, which makes the fiasco over his retirement all the more strange.
Character Comparison: I don't know anyone who tried to retire but got fired before he could finish out the season in any sport. Assistance?
Weakness: Old age
Grade: A-
Kay LonTeam: Prospec
Championship Position: =23 - 0 points
Best finish: 10th onceIn a sense, Kay Lon is doing a very honorable thing by staying at Prospec. In the true reject spirit, he is plugging away at a backmarker team at the expense of his own ego after his promising career took a nosedive. He may not be the "Best in the World" but he is certainly "King of Rejectdom" for now. When he inevitably gets tired of it all and lobbies his way back into a top seat, we will all forget about his services but his noble actions are not forgotten! However, it should be noted that Fredo Mestolio has two points and hasn't DNQ's yet this year. Lon is still at zero.
Character Comparison: Late-career Eddie Irvine?
Weakness: Du Lei
Grade: C
Ashley WatkinsonTeam: Kingfisher
Championship Position: =23 - 0 points
Best finish: 10th onceI swear, if we had a "Hang up the Keys" award for the F1RWRS, we would have to put at least eight drivers on it. In order: Melrose, Spencer, Ashley Watkinson, Frank Zimmer, Douglas Mann, Shizuka, Darren Older Jr. (well, he already got fired) and Dave Simpson. There's not much to say about Watkinson. He hasn't been good since 2013 and the car he's driving is capable of a lot more, as proven by Neuberg.
Character Comparison: Kwame Brown
Weakness: Neuberg
Grade: C-
Hagane ShizukaTeam: Revolution
Championship Position: =23 - 0 points
Best finish: 11th onceThat Revolution car is awful and I have a sneaking suspicion that Shinobu Katayama isn't going to be able to get them out of the hole in pre-qualifying. Shizuka had one chance to get the team out at Bathurst and he failed. At least he has been outperforming his teammates throughout the year.
Character Comparison: Aguri Suzuki
Weakness: Revolution DMS
Grade: D+
Steven MackintoshTeam: Mecha
Championship Position: =23 - 0 points
Best finish: 9th onceMecha GP is still crap. What else can Mackintosh do? He did manage to get the car on the grid in Monaco (a McCarthy-esque miracle) and he finished ahead of Douglas Mann in the Foxdale, which is an accomplishment. Maybe the guy has some talent after all...
Character Comparison: Eric van de Poele
Weakness: Mackintosh apples, for all the bad puns at his expense.
Grade: B
Jean-Luc SchillerTeam: Mecha
Championship Position: =23 - 0 points
Best finish: RET twiceWell, we've got to have money. He's pretty good at bringing in loads of cash into Mecha. He also avoided DNQing in his two starts. Meh.
Character Comparison: Jean-Denis Deletraz
Weakness: Being a pay driver
Grade: C
Mitchell MacklinTeam: Simpson
Championship Position: =23 - 0 points
Best finish: DNPQ... 8 times!I really expected more from this kid. I thought he was going to skewer Melrose and take that Simpson car to some crazy result, like tenth. Out of all the F2RWRS drivers, he has been the worst this season, which is quite ironic.
Character Comparison: I don't know.
Weakness: Lots of stuff.
Grade: D
All of the Autodynamics driversTeam: Autodynamics
Championship Position: =23 - 0 points
Best finish: Ret - once!Autodynamics =
The Island of Misfit Toys. We have:
Damon "See my reject license, it's so shiny" Cannon
Dean "Everyone's Mean to me" O'Lauchlan
Sebastian "Now where do I go?" Groves and
Miko "I'm sick 'o this team" Fakkinen
All of them got fired from other teams but got drives at Autodynamics.
Character Comparison: Already made it.
Weakness: Driving fast
Grade: D
Oh, and Dofasco should just give up and sign Saeed Al Faisal or Older Jr. at this point. They need cash fast.
Not listed: Al Faisal (D-), Tajner (C-), van de Schoot (F), Buyvolov (NR), John Zimmer (NR), Gia van Dycke (D), Darren Older Jr. (F),

QUALIFYING

** DGNgineering will run Pre-Qualifying at Round 11
RACE
If Rhys Davies wants to win the championship, he's hiding very well. Another race, another already secured win thrown away by his own lack of care; this time it was because, despite being clearly ahead of Pippa Mann, he decided to step too hard on the throttle at the exit of La Source. Result: He lost traction, the track was wet, and the car slid against the wall. So Mark Dagnall was quite happy at the end of a race in which his most dangerous rivals failed to score, each in a different way, as Pippa Mann's Aeroracing failed once again a few laps from the end when she was leading comfortably, and Vantini never had the pace to score points and was very anonymous in the first wet race of the season. The Stig was there to pick up the pieces and scored his first win in F1RWRS, and a very unlikely one given the predictions at the beggining of the season. A great effort by the anonymous driver, even if he almost binned it on the final lap while lapping David Neuberg.
On second position came Martin McFry, completing a great comeback; one should ask why he was thrown away in Norisring as, seeing how Ben Fleet fared, he may have had scored another podium as well. The podium was completed by Thomas de Bock, who decided to be active again at his home race and overtook an agressive Andrea Battani in the process in what was the battle of the afternoon. One can't overlook James Davies race, in what it was his best performance this season. The final points were awarded by a persisting Jari Kekkonen. Honourable mention should go to Danny van Rijkens, despite not living up to the expectations of his great qualifying effort; the young Tropico driver was driving quite solidly before his car gave up.
On the back foot we found Jones drivers; Sammy Jones spun during the first lap and, despite recovering and a good pace, he never looked like finishing in the points; We've already spoken about Rosco's apathy so that may be all about the Castrol sponsored team. Kingfisher didn't have a nice weekend as well, the wet conditions didn't seem to suit any of their drivers and that was it; Kamaha again suffered the effects of reliability (or lack of) in their fastest car and Steele failed to score any points, and DGNgineering suffered a dismal weekend as they'll have to face Pre-Qualifying with two drivers that usually do better on race day, Mark Dagnall was quite decent from his spot on the grid but the car failed once again and so he scored his fourth DNF in a row.
It's hard to tell what the outcome of the championship may be as noone seem to be strong enough to fight Mark Dagnall, specially when the British driver fails to score, so we'll have to wait and see how things develop in the next few races.

DOTR -- The Stig; Stayed out of trouble and scored an unexpected first win.
ROTR -- Rhys Davies; Who else?
1st corner moment

Sammy Jones spun early

Rhys Davies binned it

Nathan Scott spun spectacularly at Eau Rouge towards the end

McFry, De Bock and Battani brought the spectacle

The Stig almost binned it on final lap

But he reached the goal

The one important point to make here is this: If MRT, and specifically Rhys Davies, do not take their chance now to close the gap to Dagnall, then I don't think they ever will.

Yes we breeze through prequalifying but it means nothing if we do not qualify and be the slowest as well. Katayama despite firing me has done a good job to be in front of champioship leaders Dagnall and Vantini. Bosevic will be looking at Le Mans teams for 2016.

A bit about the randomness goodness that discarded seeds were; I had one Kamaha 1-2, ...

You make it sound like we are that would be some miracle or something....
Aerond wrote:PRE-QUALIFYING -- Exceptionally I've run two sessions this time as there were many non-runners in the 1st one
Did this mean that no three teams have all their drivers set a time? As I think we would have prefered to see a bunch of no time set as it could have meant a surprise or two in qualifying...
The only change would have been Prospec instead of HRT, as Frank Zimmer failed to post a time, but neither Revolution set a time and I felt pity for them. Buyvolov had been 9th (!). But if everyone agrees next time I'll respect the times of the 1st session regardless the number of non runners

Well I would assume some teams in the hope that they would qualify would have a wet set up so would be pushing the car to the limit and a few cars might go off.

Buyvolov in 9th is not too strange as it was only 3 tenths quicker then the time he set now...

I would have accepted that result, even if we'd have a better car. Thanks though, we got a PQ point in the end.

Alitalia still in PreQ for the next round, good stuff. We need to start scoring more points in the PreQ cup, we'll need the credits from winning that that to aid development for the car next year. It's strange how avoiding PreQ lately has probably hampered us more than it's helped.

What happened?? Why is everyone going off the track setting no times??? I thought this was 'light' rain.
Anyways, this should make for a cracking race.
