Scheckter in Canada 1980 is right,but only one of the remaining 2 comes pre-1976.

It was Diniz in car #2 that DNQ'd in Australia '97 wasn't it? And even then he was allowed to start. If I remember Hill just about squeaked onto the grid legitimately.

I believe Piquet failed to qualify for the 1982 Detroit GP with the No.1 on his Brabham BMW. Not sure about the 3rd one though.

The other one was Beltoise at the Monaco Grand Prix in 1967

I've got one for you to have a go at :

From all of the drivers signed for 2013 who have ever won a Grand Prix, can you give me the top 3 in order of the their largest margin of victory? Only select the best margin that each driver has achieved.

i.e. we know Rosberg won China by a fair margin, but that's not even the biggest margin this season. You will need to think back a few years, bearing in mind that Alonso and Kimi have been winners since 2003.
I think number 1 ~should~ be pretty obvious. You can include Kovy if you want to - but he's not in the top 3 anyway ... And at least you don't have to consider Schumi.

As for madmark's question,I can immediately identify Lewis Hamilton's 1min,17 sec-ish victory at Silverstone 2008.

As for the other 2....I'm calling Alonso,then Vettel,though I can't pinpoint the races.

Yes Hamilton at Silverstone 2008 is clearly the number 1, in fact the winner by nearly 30 seconds more than the others have achieved, but the other two are incorrect ...

Webber in Spain 2010 springs to mind as 2nd, and then possibly Button 3rd for Spa last year?

Webber Spain 2010 is certainly his best, but only good enough for 5th on the list. Button is in 3rd, but not for Spa 2012 ... he's won by more than that on two previous occasions ...

Button must be in for Hungary 2006 then, as I don't ever recall any of his Brawn or other McLaren victories being anything massive........

Yup, that's the one! He did have a fairly large one for Brawn, at Malaysia, where he won by 22.722 seconds, but Hungary 2006 was over 30 seconds.

2nd place still to find ... So, it's a win by a bigger margin than Button won Hungary 2006.

I have a list of all the best winning margins for the drivers which I will publish once we fill in the last blank, compiled by myself using GPGuide ...

Must be Kimi or Massa then if it's not Alonso, Vettel or Webber - and you've already said it's not Rosberg or Kovalainen and Maldonado only won Spain by a few secs. (And nobody else has won a race)!!!

Sadly not - thought that was too big a job! I got the figures manually by clicking through them all on http://www.gpguide.com/ (if someone fancies doing it) - in recent years you've also got Rubens and going
back a bit further Monytoya, Fisichella, Trulli and even Ralf - who could all be added to the list but still overlap with Kimi and Fernando.

Just looked up the most obvious one to me - Spain 1996 - and the margin was 45.302 seconds. He may well have one higher than that - someone may even know off the top of their head

Just a stab in the dark, but did he not win a few races in early 02 (when Barrichello couldn't finish races) by bigger margins? Or is it just my memory distorting things?

Didn't he lap Damon Hill who was 2nd in the 1994 Brazilian GP? (He was only 5 secs or so ahead of Senna when he spun out though).

Yes he did, and he crossed the line in a time of 1:35:38.760, whilst Hill came in at 1 lap down and 1:36:04.483, a difference of 25.723 seconds + 1 lap. Schumi's fastest lap was 01:18.455, so let's say he did a 1:19 on the
last lap. Add the two together and we get 1 minute 44.7 seconds. Schumi's best lap was nearly 2 seconds better than Hill's best, and his was the third fastest!

Went through 2002 and the best was 35.629 seconds in Spain. So I think James has found / remembered the best one ...

Young driver tests were first introduced in 2009. By my reckoning there are 48 drivers who have completed a lap in a young driver test but have not completed a lap in Formula One (so, for example, at the first YDT Nico Hulkenberg completed a lap, but unlike others he then went on to race in F1). Can you name them?
