CD? Retro? Please, don't flatter yourself.

I own the original '88 cassette of Sunshine on Leith, and the LP of So.

Saying all CDs aren't retro isn't completely true - I consider anything from the late eighties retro... that said, cassettes and LPs are, yes! despite having terrible quality in comparison to CD WELP

Also, from 1982, I'm kicking out to the entirety of Kill 'em All:

(that's my own copy, yes, rather glad it's a CD too)

I wouldn't say that the LPs sound any worse than CDs. Especially nowadays the CDs are often "remastered" to sound as loud as possible which in my fair opinion reduces the sound quality quite a bit. I mostly listen to heavy metal and when I want to listen to it loud, I do have the volume button at my disposal. So when I really want to enjoy the music I dig up the original LP instead of the CD. No, I am not a hipster.

And while cassettes never reach the same quality as CDs or LPs, you can't beat that nostalgic sound, and with proper equipment it doesn't sound that bad at all!

Despite my music taste being massively guitar/indie rock biased, and the fact I don't listen to any current mainstream pop music/dubstep, I haven't ever been called a hipster, yet... :?

Mastering and sound quality are two different things, my friend. :)

Mastering itself is the technique of compressing volume and reducing dynamics. While I agree with the fact that equalisation and some compression to make some instruments sound louder is a good thing, killing dynamics entirely is bad (See Death Magnetic as how not to master).

CD is technically superior as it's entirely digital and there isn't loss in audio quality over time. Your LP might have an analog sound to it which you like, but you cannot deny that vinyl detoriates over time, you get all the cracks and pops and it's just unwanted.

(For the record I think the quieter the thing and the more dynamics it has is better, but I prefer digital sound)

Very nice! :) On a vaguely similar note, have you ever listened to the Mongolian duo, Black Horse? They have performed and busked throughout Europe (I encountered them playing in a Parisian street about ten years ago and promptly bought their CD).

It is impossible to listen to the above and not feel brilliant afterwards. :D

Also, I think it perfectly describes what Master Eurobrun is feeling at the moment. ;)

Yeah, but that was because he lost an avatar challenge. He is well known for his dislike towards Grosjean (and in more recent times, Bottas as well).

Early Placebo was the best Placebo. It's surprising that they were never that big over here, whilst they sell out arenas all over the rest of Europe...

And a couple of days ago, I found out my maths teacher is a massive Stone Roses fan. Every time I come into his classroom he starts humming the basslines from either Fools Gold or I Wanna Be Adored at me. 8-)

When I first heard it I thought it was alright, but now it just causes me to burst out into fits of rage. I utterly despise it, I want to throttle the lead singer with my hands to stop his godawful monotonus voice. I should really turn off the music in Fifa.

As for this Oasis debate; piss off you damn ruffians!
