Glad you asked. Here is how the logistics of the series will work.
FormatPoints SystemThe points system will be 15-12-10-8-6-5-4-3-2-1, plus one point for fastest lap and pole position. I was debating between this and the current F1 points system, but this is easier to add in my head, so I chose this one.
Drivers' CupAlthough the series is an ostensibly national affair, drivers can still compete in the individual cup. Each division will have its own separate Drivers' Cup. WInning the division is a moot point though, as placing highly in the divisional round only helps you to the official "F1RNC Final" rounds. After seven rounds, the best driver wins the Drivers' Cup. The number of drivers that will make the Final Round is 28. It is conceivable that a division winner may not even qualify for the next round, depending on how the rest of their nation's drivers perform, but because I am trying to make this a "team effort". This does create a large bias towards four-car teams, but a good two-car team should be able to hold their own.
Nations' CupHowever, the Drivers' Cup is most definitely secondary to the Nations' Cup. The original plan was to just take the three best teams from the divisions, but because I expanded the nation base and allowed two-car teams, I have tweaked it slightly. For starters, all the nations will be thrown onto one gigantic leaderboard, rather than in separate divisional standings. The Top 14 teams will make the Final by placing at the top of this leaderboard. Four-car teams will be narrowed down to their top two drivers (depending on how they competed). The teams will all compete for the F1 Rejects International Trophy.
As you can see, this is not a perfect system. My main problem is that only 25% of the 112 drivers will be able to compete in the Finals. I could institute some sort of pre-qualifying system for the Finals and increase the total entrants to 40, but that might allow a disproportionate amount of nations into the next round, which some people might not like. Basically, it boils down to this:
Do you want more nations in the Grand Final at the risk of a pre-qualifying lottery? Feedback would be appreciated.
