OK, to be fair, it was a lot more than tangential.

You thought correct, tis the 72. According to Stats F1, its the McLaren M23 with 16 wins, but a quick look at the 72's results reveal that it took 20 victories.

Correct, Wallio! The 1966 US GP at Watkins Glen saw Jim Clark win in his Lotus BRM H16.

In the 2000 Austrian Grand Prix, there was a crash involving Michael Schumacher which caused him to retire and led to a SC period where the two McLaren, unsurprisingly, led the way with a surprise behind them? Who crashed into Schumacher and who was the third-placed driver under SC conditions?

Without checking, it was Fisichella who hit Schumacher (he did the same thing at Hockenheim too ) and Mika Salo who ran third, before Barrichello passed him.

Also without checking, I thought it was either Trulli or Zonta who crashed into M Schumi? I'll go Trulli. Since I remember the reason for the crash was because Barrichello appear to trying to be letting M Schumi passed in that first corner, so the two cars behind (Trulli & Zonta) both tapped into the back of of the Ferrari's. Also vividly remember M Schumi dirty tactics in trying to park his damaged Ferrari on the racing line, seemly in an attempt to get the race restarted. And I remember Wizzie kindly pointing out to me last year, that a couple of drivers towards at the back of the grid were acting like complete tools (IIRC Diniz & R Schumi), which I hadn't noticed before Wizzie kindly pointed it out to me.

Well, Fisichella hit him so technically that answer is correct since I worded the question badly (I was looking for the guy who caused it, ibsey had the right idea but picked the wrong one - it was Zonta) and Salo is correct too. Although I disagree with ibsey on tactics game, I presume Schumacher just did not recognise immediately how badly his car was damaged but realised quickly that his attempt to rejoin was pointless.

Easy, Nelson Piquet drove for the original Lotus and for Benetton, who became Renault, who became new Lotus. And Ayrton Senna, who first drove for Toleman, and later for original Lotus.

As some of you may or may not have noticed, I have decided to ditch Lowndsey's great moment in V8 radio punditry and instead have a rather prophetic comment from Martin Brundle before the start of the 2005 San Marino Grand Prix. Now, without looking up the grid on this wonderful thing before the internet, who were the four drivers Martin was talking about?

Well, I'm assuming Raikkonen and Alonso, not sure about the other two.

I'm gonna guess Raikkonen, Alonso, Button, and Montoya.

I'm guessing Raikkonen, Alonso, Heidfeld and Webber

Obviously Räikkönen and Alonso, then I'm guessing Heidfeld and maybe Sato? IIRC that was the race where he finished somewhere around sixth before getting DQ'd.

I remember a pacific or forti driver starting in third gear.

But starting in Reverse?

Nice try, but I am afraid it is wrong. I will give you a clue however. Like JV the driver in question has won the WDC at least once.

I would presume it's any Finnish world champion not named Räikkönen.

I'm going to assume this was back in days of a "stick-shift" gearbox, because the paddle-shift of the last few years has a readout in the cockpit and thus you'd have to be a massive idiot to manage to start in reverse.

The clue "Like JV, the driver in question has won the WDC at least once" isn't a massive clue really, but I'll follow the line of enquiry along one-time champs. The only person I can think of that would be capable of this would be Alan Jones. Seeing as he'd given up by 1986, I'll take a guess it was in one of the Haas-Lolas.
