RACE
RACE
Two thirds of the championship gone and the championship is hotter than it ever was, thanks in part for the appaling lack of reliability suffered by Mark Dagnall, who once again was left in the side by his car when he was making up places. He certainly had the pace to win, but instead the victory went to Rosco Vantini, who is claiming a place at the very top of the sport; the italian is not only consistent, helped by a reliable and fast car, but he also has the speed and the will and he made the most of his home race by winning when nobody was expecting him, specially after battling head to head with Sammy Jones for many laps; but the Jones team made the most of Vantini's strategy and he emerged ahead of everybody else after the last round of stops, and started pulling a very strong pace; meanwhile, in the other Jones car Sammy managed to pass Rhys Davies and Ron Mignolet in two over exciting final laps; Rhys played the card of the one pitstop strategy but his tyres didn't respond as expected in an overly too long second stint, however, with the help of Aurelien Moll, whose only appearance all weekend was to block Jones and Mignolet and to put the battling trio together for the final laps of the race, he passed Mignolet at the beggining of the final lap and made his way into the podium. Mignolet, on his side, was believed to be able to keep his seat at DGN if he managed to finish on the podium, but the other two drivers showed their valuable experience and he'll have to make way for test driver Hansuke Shioya. Mignolet was never expected to fight for the championship win, but he was certainly expected to perform better in a season with very few highs.
Barii Mori, on his side, was battling Martin McFry for the lower points until the Foxdale man decided to perform one of the most rejectful crashes in F1RWRS ever; As Neuberg was parking his car near the pit entrance with a puncture, McFry realised too late of the presence of the orange car when entering for his second stop and crashed to the wall, putting an end to a reasonably good performance. Nobody else really reserved ROTR. Pippa Mann rounded the points with just an average performance. On the poitives one can't forget two men; first, Phillippe Nicolas, who was driving a comanding lead when the MRT lack of reliability struck him; the other man we were talking about is Fredo Mestolio, spoiled as well by his fans, he was driving the Prospec in the points before the car stopped.
On the negatives... well, Gillet once again didn't appear at all, except for the mentioned act of blocking by Moll. The others just had average races, except perhaps the notable case of Arrowtech. It's true that they don't enjoy a powerful powerplant, but their pace was just awful; maybe they should start praying for more rain for the races ahead.
