Thanks for reminding me. You guys think the Sky Pre-Race show is over the top? The ONE/Ten pre-race show over the top... of love for Webber and Ricciardo. Probably because 90% of viewers in Australia have only ever heard of those two, Vettel and possibly Alonso. Note that I DIDN'T say Schumacher because he retired long before Webber finally got a top-line drive and therefore became relevant to the casual Australian viewer.

You guys haven't watched the German pre-shows: incredible pathos that wouldn't be misplaced in cheap sport films and jingoism up the tree. If one's lucky you will get something about other championship contenders but from there on it's downhill. And Niki Lauda is bloody annoying at times.

Someone really oughta stop by the Ferrari pitbox and tell Alonsos race engineer to get back to human speak on the radio. As a viewer who unfortunately lacks understanding the very niche-language of Italian, I am frustrated beyond reason for the fact that I cannot understand crap about Alonso's comms.
I understand trying to get a leg up on your opponents (iirc, Ferrari was the biggest opponent of the "all radiocomms are public" ruling weren't they?) but that's just downright ridiculous. Every team in F1 is bound to have SOMEONE fluent in Italian. So who are they depriving? The fans.
Or alternatively... FOM, don't friggin air the italian conversations or if you do, provide a bloody translation for us fans please?

I will allow myself to disagree with you. It is not the team's job to make their team radio understandable for everyone. DTM has team radio in German and I can imagine a number of team radio transmission in other national or regional series are done in the respective language; as long as there is no ruling otherwise, giving Ferrari hell for Italian team radio is out of place. Other teams could try that as well, they don't, it's their problem.
And while you talk about niche-languages, I think forcing teams to speak the language with most native speakers would be hilarious - Mandarin Chinese radio messages everywhere and HRT with their new driver winning by the virtue of being the only one to understand when to pit.

Did you ever consider that Alonso is a stronger Italian speaker than English? Spanish and Italian share the same basic language structure, whereas English is a very different language and therefore harder for a continental European to become fluent in. Taking such measures would therefore ensure no instructions are lost in translation and give less room for error. Therefore, making radio calls in Italian makes more sense. So I think you should take your selfish casual racism and stick it where the sun don't shine. Si stare sul cazzo.

There's no reason whatsoever in my opinion that an Italian talking to a Spaniard who is fluent in Italian, both of whom are working for an Italian company comprised primarily of Italians and completely of Italian-speaking people, should speak in English. They are doing their job, and if they can do their job most effectively through a particular language then why not? I don't feel that they're using Italian as some secret code.

[rant on]Then on the other hand you don't hear the German working for an austrian company getting talked to in German, or the Spaniard working for the Spanish team spoken for in Spanish. OR the other Spaniard who worked for an Italian team getting spoken to in Italian... or the Brasilian working for the very same Italian team spoken to in Italian. Not to mention that the said Spaniard has been spoken to in English since the dawn of his career from an italian team, to a French team, through a British team, and also the first two years in this said Italian team. Oddly enough this whole schtick in Italian has begun only recently, and there has been some controversy regarding the usage of radio messages in the team before aswell. So I refuse to apologize for my "selfish casual racism" (Which doesn't make sense btw, Since I don't speak any of the mentioned languages as a native one) and maintain that they, being a team known thorough history for their shady tactics and always trying to get a leg up on the competition through any means necessary, are doing just in a desperate manner to confuse their opposition, which I am very ready to say hasn't worked since the first time and continuing to do so only infuriates about 70% of the people who watch these broadcasts (I doubt Italians and italian-fluent people make up even that much of the F1-fanbase) and makes them seem petty.

I think he meant you saying that they should get back to 'human speak', thus implying that Italian isn't a human language, and calling it a 'niche-language' (despite it being one of the more widely spoken languages on Earth). Which was quite frankly out of line - so what if you don't speak Italian? I don't speak Finnish, but you don't see me bashing it as a language. And if you can't handle Ferrari broadcasting messages in Italian just mute the damn TV - Ferrari's number one goal is to win the championship, not to entertain you, me, or anyone. If they think speaking on the radio in Italian will help, either for ease of understanding, or to obfuscate their strategy, then they have every right to do so.
I know you can't stand Alonso doing well, but just stop making an ass of yourself, really.

Wrong. Italian is NOT one of the more widely spoken languages on Earth. The few lists and surveys I managed to dig up place it outside top-10, some even further. Italian really isn't talk widely spoken outside Italy, while the likes of English, Spanish and German are spoken worldwide in one shape or the other.
Which was quite frankly out of line - so what if you don't speak Italian? I don't speak Finnish, but you don't see me bashing it as a language.
I am not surprised by that, since we Finns 9 times outta 10 have the decency to use a more widespread language when non-Finns are around.

Oh really? 70%? Please tell me how you conducted significant statistical analysis and accounted for all possible variables to come up with this figure!
You're just making up nonsense to back your own selfish agenda. People can speak in whatever languages they want, English prevails in most cases as eight of the twelve teams in F1 are from England, but that is merely incidental. People can talk in flipping Esperanto if they really wanted to, there's nothing wrong with that. You're just coming up with the most ridiculous rants, finding something that isn't broken and kicking up a fuss about it to suit your anti-Ferrari, anti-Alonso agenda.
Also, I think you'll find that since 1980, the San Siro has been officially named the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza, in honour of our all-time top scorer Giuseppe Meazza. Really, what the hell are you thinking, trying to school an Interista on Internazionale Milano, and then getting it spectacularly wrong, it just makes you look like a total clown. This isn't about football, it's about your disgusting attitude every time you show your face here. Grow up. You are not the centre of the world. People do not care about your worthless misinformed opinions. If you made a serious, well thought out post on an issue balancing all the facts before reaching a conclusion, perhaps you would garner some respect. But until that day comes, you are nothing but a childish troll.

I don't think Karthikeyan would ever have radio messages in Punjabi. He's from Madras/Chennai, so it would have to be in Tamil. Probably...
Who cares what language the team radio is in? I bet the majority of people abroad can't understand it in English, so I'd bet that any Italians would be grateful to hear information like that in their mother tongue. I think you're just arguing for the sake of it.

I never stated the 70% to be an exact number, I more or less admitted it to be a guesstimate. But of course you wouldn't notice that, I wasn't being blunt enough >_>
Your argument would make sense, if the comms between Ferrari and Alonso hadn't been conducted in English for over 2 years already, and this whole italian-schtick having started in what, Monaco? So I'm sorry, but it stinks of shenanigans to me.
And I admit I was wrong there. Though all the official information I can find on the stadium was under the name of San Siro(including the official website) , and I have heard the story of Meazza, who was a Inter guy who defected to Milan (So from what I gathered it used to be called BOTH San Siro and Giuseppe Meazza depending which team you supported)
And last I checked A) There is a freedom of Opinion in this forum and B) This is a RANTBOX thread, where you are allowed to Rant. I apologize sincerely if I hurt your feelings with a rant which was actually VERY tame.
But yes. I admit I can't stand Ferrari because of their history of foul play and arrogance. I admit I can't stand Alonso because of his attitude and all the questionable antics he has been involved. And I admit I can't stand Italy as an entity in Football for various and sundry reasons. But like I said, I would be ranting at the usage of a non-english language in the comms even if it was Vettel getting spoken to in German. (And I will mention ONCE AGAIN that the fact that they suddenly start doing it after 2 and a half years SMELLS LIKE SHENANIGANS TO ME!)
And a childish troll? I atleast defend my position and explain my actions. Only thing that makes me a troll is the fact that I don't beat around the bush and say things how I see them. The first occurrence of Alonso being talked to in Italian was at the 2011 Turkish Grand Prix so one could argue that it only seems like a new trend because FOM concentrates on the leader's team radio and Alonso happens to be amongst the leaders of past races more than in recent months.
However, I must also say that I cannot understand some of those people complaining here that DonTirri's just arguing for the sake of it. If he were to do that, I think he would have chosen a more emotional topic. I do not agree with him but his point is understandable and not just pulled out of his rear, so let's cut that one out for at least this discussion. We ain't Autosport's forum, boys.

Also, on the San Siro thing, you clearly stated it was "Not Giuseppe Meazza". So how could you possibly gather it was called both before making that unequivocal statement? This smacks of backtracking and trying to patch up the gaping holes in your posts retroactively.

And this whole talk about having to show respect towards the other drivers is quite ear-grating, but I'm willing to let Perez off the hook this time around. He DID lose to Maldonado in 2010 and they'd run into each other once already, so it's no surprise to see that he was frustrated (especially as it was just after he'd gotten out of the car).

How about climbing F1Rejects' own version of the Hyde Park's soapbox? A cathartic moment, where you get to shout out all the rubbish you would otherwise be inclined to keep to yourself, or at least soften.
Ground rules:
1. One liners are mandatory. If you want to write a long text, contact you local editor for publishing opportunities. Or a lawyer, in case it's your will.
2. Remember the "family website" principle. Sexist, racist and other -ist posts are discouraged, plus the Admins will kick your butt. Just sayin'.
3. Remember

4. The audience doesn't get to answer back, only cheer or boo. If you fancy a debate, may I suggest wearing a towel and go re-enacting ancient Greece somewhere else?

That said, I'll start with my rant of the day:

Also, on the San Siro thing, you clearly stated it was "Not Giuseppe Meazza". So how could you possibly gather it was called both before making that unequivocal statement? This smacks of backtracking and trying to patch up the gaping holes in your posts retroactively.
For your own good, stop making such "pointed opionions" as you foolishly brand them, and think before hitting enter. It might serve you well.
Who are you to define what is in line and what isn't? As far as I can see You (and possibly Blindcavesalamander) are the only one who got offended (and for the life of me I cannot understand why). I also do not appreciate being directly or indirectly threatened with a ban, since I haven't broken a single rule of this forum.
Also, use your terms right. "Racism" is not a carpet-term for "not from your country". It refers to the RACE of a person. So if I was slagging on Hamilton due to his color (which I haven't done, ever) THAT would be racism.
And yes. I think that any non-english language is not acceptable. For years it has more or less been an unwritten rule to use english over the radio, or can you bring up ANY other situation where anyone has used anything BUT english? I mean Hell, English is the de facto language of almost any other international sport, AND is also the standardized language on Aviation communications. So excuse me if I bring out my opinion about it.
And yes, it was insincere because I find the sheer volatility of your reaction to be laughable. I find your way of attacking me even more childish than anything I have posted. You resort to threats of banning, to playground-grade insults to my opinions and ways of bringing them forth and try to bury them under a wall of text.
The fact is Kostas, I couldn't give a rats ass what you think of my opinions or the way I bring them out. But when you start attacking me directly on your posts, I will respond. And seriously. Practice what you preach. Construct a response that doesn't have a 3rd grade insult on every other sentence or one that doesn't rely on making YOUR opinion seem the correct one as its underlying logic. After all. You attacked me because YOU thought I was out of line and blatantly offensive. SO please. "Think before hitting enter. It might serve you well."
Oh and PS: "Starting to invade"? I've been here longer than You. And I've been posting in the same manner since day 1.

Your responses are now so far from reality and ignorant of the words in front you I'm not even going to dignify that with a response.
Please, for everyone else's sake, pipe down and stop runing F1 Rejects for everyone.

Maybe this thread needs locking. I'm not sure everyone can be trusted with carte blanche any more.

Agree with East Londoner, the reason I'm angry is trolls are beginning to invade F1 Rejects, I wish the likes of DonTirri and Pamphlet would kindly leave and leave us all in peace. I'm trying to fight them off with my holy cross but it just isn't working right now.
For that reason alone I'm not going to leave. You're always good for a laugh.

How cute
Like I said. I got as much right to be here as you. And until I get that ban you spoke off, I'll keep posting.

Hahaha oh my days that last 10 minutes of reading has given me something to chuckle about! Look at you people, arguing over bugger all!
As for everyone concerned, I wouldn't worry too much, we all know and accept DonTirri's random bursts of horseshit every once in a while, and we all know Kostas likes to rise to the challenge of a heated debate, and we are all coming to understand that Pamphlet loves nothing more than trying to provoke him into one of those said debates.
Just laugh from the sidelines, let them exhaust themselves and once they've calmed down, we'll be all good!

I don't think Karthikeyan would ever have radio messages in Punjabi. He's from Madras/Chennai, so it would have to be in Tamil. Probably...
It would indeed be in Tamil but he's not from Chennai. That would be Chandhok's home town
And being from the same State as them will be my only claim to fame for some time

Haha - I'm picturing them all curled up on the floor, exhausted, having a nap together.

Picard's reaction:
Jokes aside, what the heck has gotten into you guys?
DonTirri's point about discussing the "shenanigans" of Ferrari's Italian radio messages to Alonso during races might have been controversial, but I have to say kostas22's reaction was a tad knee-jerk in my opinion, and it snowballed from that point on, both sides taking the worst off of him and each other. And Pampleth's comment deriding kostas22's did nothing but unnecesarily fuel things up. Watch out, because I didn't like that comment at all.
Please calm down everybody and try not to counterreact to opinions we disagree about writing a 5-paragraph post about why the opinion is incorrect, adding that the Moon landing was a conspiracy, the cake is a lie, all our bases are belong to us and so on.
DonTirri, at times I feel you're being consumed by your "I have pointed opinions and I'm not affraid to use 'em" moniker, and you're trying to trademark it, with Pamphlet seemingly following suit "putting his neck on the line, one post at a time". Don't be controversial for the sake of it, please.
And kostas22, don't let DonTirri's seemingly bad reputation cloud your judgement. Your rants were every bit as pointless as those of DonTirri. And both of you were, in my view, trolling.
Let's be pacific (and Pacific too, if you wish) and restrain our most primitive instincts, one post at a time (I hope I used this term correctly this time
)
And after D. I. Phoenix McAllister be done investigating this report, he be done finishing this controversy once and for all.

At least he's not from Chennai. Otherwise we might have to call him Daniel "Super King" Melrose

Thankfully, for the rest of us, I'm not. Although that would make a really cool in-universe nickname in the F1RWRS
