Race

Fleet passes both Dagnalls before the first corner thanks to the higher speed of the Foxdale. Shizuka does a great start and climbs to 10th. At the hairpin, Martins eats the back of Melrose´s car and the former F1 champion has to pit to fix the rear wing. Mark Dagnall recovers the lead at the last corner.

Some pics of the start...

Fleet loses the 2nd place to Chris Dagnall on lap 2 and both Dagnalls start to open a serious gap. Pratchett passes Frank Zimmer. Two laps later, the first retirement comes from Moll after he spins and crashes. Douglas Mann suffers an electric problem but he´s able to reach the pits to fix it, but he´s 23rd back on track. Shizuka also spins out of the race.

Image
Image

On lap 5 Pratchett keeps on climbing and passes Rhys Davies for 6th. Three laps later, Al Faisal´s Sunshine suffers an electrical problem as well and pits too.
Lap 10 situation:

Image

Three laps later, Chris Dagnall spins out too, Walkinson and McFaste are the next drivers to retire, John Zimmer following soon with yet another accident.

Image

Most of the drivers are for 3 stops and Fleet and Mark Dagnall open the first stop window on lap 17. Both GRM´s stop on lap 21 and 22, but they´re for 2 stops instead.

Lap 20 situation:

Image

On lap 26, Katayama passes Fleet for 2nd, Martins retires shortly afterwards. On lap 30, Mann passes Jones for 7th, after a beautiful string of overtakes.

Lap 30:

Image

The 2nd round of stops start on lap 36; the race stays relatively quiet until Katayama suffers an accident on lap 47. Mori also crashes one lap later, but this time due a suspension failure. Davies and John Zimmer stop for the 2nd time around lap 50, and they get to take their positions back from Pratchett when he stops on lap 54. Lap 56 situation:

Image

After that, the 3rd round of stops happens; Fleet loses the 2nd position to both GRM´s and Pratchett and falls to 5th, but he starts an impressive string of laps and in just three laps gets the 2nd place back; now Mann is around 20 seconds behind this group. Frank Zimmer retires on lap 67, and Ben Fleet retires two laps later and only 9 from the end. Meanwhile, Mann is fastly approaching Pratchett, and this fight will become the fight for the win as Mark Dagnall´s car fails on lap 73, when he had more than 1min and 45 seconds to Rhys Davies, who happily receives the lead. That very same lap, Mann manages to pass Pratchett and starts pursuing Davies, who´s around 4 seconds ahead. Mann manages to cut the gap to 2.1 seconds and when Rhys Davies is about to begin the last lap he suddenly gets the way of the pitlane... as he needs fuel for an extra lap! GRM failed to calculate the correct ammount and Mann manages to keep the Foxdale running for the first finish of the season with a fantastic win from second last after his electrical problem! Rhys Davies finally finishes 3rd and there´s even more heartbreak behind as Sammy Jones car stops at the last corner, losing his 4th place. Melrose also runs out of fuel but manages to cross the line just ahead of Kay Lon!!

On top of it, Mark Dagnall is the winner of the F1RWRS 2013 season!!

Despite the entry list for the Suzuka Charity Race not being open yet, someone has been looking for it. Kay Lon, German F1RWRS driver, is interested in having the 7-time Formula 1 world champion Michael Schumacher on the grid.

"Yes, indeed, I want to see Michael on the grid for that race," he said to one of our reporters although he refused to state why. Apparentely he is also ready to give quite a lot to appeal to Schumi's generousity. The list of times that would be sold for charity organisations of Schumacher's choice would include: the Ford C-Max 2.0 L Duratorq TDCi I4 given to K. Lon by Ford during the 2010 F1RWRS season, one tire of the car Kay Lon won his first race with and two paintings by Stefan Lenke, both worth somewhere around £150,000

Sadly we were not able to get a reaction from Schumacher, who enters the second year of his new three car contract with Mercedes GP, yet.

Our main goal for the rest of the season will be to simply finish the races, usually meaning scoring good points, which should help us consolidate our second place in both championships. Of course, teams with pay drivers have a much quicker development rate, and that's why we're dropping back in qualifying, but I refuse to hire one until the team drops into regular failure to qualify.

Also, Gillet-Ecurie Nationale Belge would like to confirm their three drivers for the non-championship Budweiser 500 as regular drivers Thomas De Bock and Aurelien Moll as well as junior driver Laurent Seron, who will be looking to gain experience in high-level single-seaters towards his début in the F2RWRS in 2014.

We still have three races to try and secure third place in the constructors' championship at the very least, and that's what we'll be focussing on until the season is out. Over the year our general pace has dropped off in comparison to others, and the main reason for this has been that our attention has been focused on getting our new car, the CJR-202, ready for testing for next season. Progress is going very well, and we hope the car can challenge for both championships next year.

Incidentally, Pratchett's second place is the best result for an American driver since T. Hemo Goblin's second position at the 2011 Belgian GP and the first American podium since the same Hemo Goblin's third at the 2011 Dutch GP. The last and only American driver to win a race is still Dan BH, who won the 2010 Saxon GP.

I've always felt some of my best drives in Formula One have either come from lowly grid positions or early incidents and here in the F1RWRS it's no different as I went from stone dead motherless last on lap 1 to 5th place by the end of it. Hopefully more drives like that will increase my chances to get a seat at another team next season.

Tropico News Today wrote:El Presidente offers Melrose drive

With the debut of Tropico Grand Prix powered by CR Motorsport only a few months away, El Presidente and the German council leading the team are looking for a big-name driver. Daniel Melrose, winner of the Formolo 1 Championship, has been given an offer by the generous El Presidente.

"When Senor Melrose desides to join the great team of Tropico Grand Prix, he will have eighty staff bow down to his wills and whims as if he were El Presidente himself," our leader said to Tropico News Today.

Regarding the second driver for Tropico GP, rumours have reached us that either a rich alumnus of the Virgin Intercorse Racing School will become the second driver or the team will keep the legendary Darren Older Jr..

Also, making the first and decisive step to see the team becoming a true national effort, Alberto Cara, son of the famous palace guard soldier who shot down five vicious rebels last year, has been confirmed as the test driver.
