Okay, THAT was beginner's luck for sure. Wow, I couldn't believe it first when I saw my time on the top of the list.
I might skip round 2. My computer broke down while playing GT2 last evening... Now I can't turn it on, but I might use my brother's computer, but then, I will only be able to post a screenshot with the time then. We'll see it.
CLK 320... hm. That'll be an interesting car to use.

Would it be because of the great battle for the lead between Jorge Lorenzo and Dani Pedrosa in the MotoGP race at Estoril...

...just kidding, my proper guess is Ralf Schumacher's podium finish in the DTM at Hockenheim.
This is a cool spot.

CLK 320 has no R mod in GT2. No matter, I will try my best. :)

Broke some sweat to buy that Mercedes, it's an expensive car, and on top of that my game is on the very early stages (I only have like 6% complete), but I have just got it, slapped the Racing Hard tires onto it, and took it for a little spin to get a feel to how it drives. Ran a couple of laps and already have a time, but I think I could improve it before the deadline... let's see how it goes.

I know my time sucks, but I can't do any better than that, maybe two tenths off, but not in this state of mind what I currently am right now. At least the Seattle win will prove me right saying "beginner's luck".
I foresee the winner having a time of approximately 1 minute 2 seconds and 2-3 tenths.

Yeah, the winner of GT2 alright. Seems like I've bathplugged up the balance quite dramaticly. The others will have at best a time of 1'15. I am considering changing the rules for GT4 and GT5, namely allowing for a weight reduction.

Indeed. The best time I got in my test run was in the high 1'16s, but I know I still have some room for improvement there. The first thing I thought was "Am I that much off the pace?"

I think a weight reduction may net us GT4 players some 4-5 seconds off our times, but even so we'd not even get close to Shizuka's prediction of 1'02...

A question: May we get a deadline extension in case the rules do change? I'd need the time to put together the money for more upgrades, just getting the Mercedes drained me out of cash.

Yeah, I think I will redo the rules a bit and extend the deadline. GT PSP players are screwed though. Deal with it.

I got an idea. Deduct 15% of the total laptime then.

Let's say you have a 1:16 lap. It's 15% is 11.4 seconds. That would make the laptime a 1:04.6 - and I don't want to tell my exact lap time, but it is close to the mentioned 1:04.6.

Turbo tuning is not available for the Mercedes CLK 55 AMG in GT4. Maybe NA tuning stage 1 instead?

Problem, my game has a glitch. I selected the High Speed Ring Reverse course but it loads in the normal direction. Either I use my laptime from the normal configuration or I can't enter... :?

OK, the vid of my lap was partially blocked on YouTube because of a copyright claim with absolutely no relevance to the video!

If you're German, watch the low quality unblocked version here.
If you're from anywhere else, watch the original HQ version here.

I should bloody well hope so!! That lap was near perfect, I hit all the apexes I intended to, got my exits inch perfect...ok, so I had a slight oversteer moment at the exit of the fast left hander at the start of the lap but it cost me basically zero time.

Sorry, I was a bit busy in recent weeks. Sadly though, I am currently not able to do it either since I am still dealing with the stomach issues that send me to hospital last night. I don't plan on letting this die, but I may need another week.

Thanks. I've submitted it now.

By the way, on an unrelated note, does anyone know why Gran Turismo 4 randomly decides not to give me a ghost of my fastest time? It's really quite annoying not to know where I'm gaining/losing time because of something that I have seemingly no control over.

Because GT4 is bugged to hell. My mate's disc exemplifies this brilliantly, it has more flaws than you can shake a stick at.
For example, whenever Infineon Raceway is selected, the sky looks like it would if you were high. Also, another circuit had an 'invisible wall' right in the middle of the track, but I can't remember which one it was. Also, one car (can't remember which, I think it may have been a Corvette or Viper or something) had its wheels sticking UP out of the wheelarches. It still drove and everything, as if there were castors fitted to the underside of the dampers.

Are you sure it's not a pirate copy? My GT4 has no bugs whatsoever.

It might be a very early copy (from launch date or pre-ordered), too. Sometimes companies release games with bugs that the programmers couldn't fix on schedule, then roll out revised copies with the bugs fixed at some later date. Of course, the packages will never say anything about that. My copy (US version) doesn't have any of those bugs, too. Being a programmer myself, I know how that goes.

That was good. I played GT2 to 98.2% (the maximum achievable percentage) and wondered for some time what was left to get 100%. Later I found out that there was going to be a drag racing mode - evidence of this is the presence of HKS drag cars - but the drag strip mode was cut out at the last hour... and they forgot to adjust the percentage to reflect the change.

If anything we were lucky the HKS drag cars remained active - there were a number of cars present on the disk that were made inaccesible due to licenscing issues, notably a plain silver 2000 Mercedes CLK DTM car, as well as the Shelby Cobra GT500KR (King of the Road Limited Edition) and a rather less impressive Volkswagen Polo. I've driven all of them thanks to the wonders of PC emulators :D

I really like the CLK Race Car - it's really a quick, agile car. If you handle it properly, she'll treat you with some easy wins even in the GT500 championship.
By the way, am I crazy to beat GT500 with ALL GT300 cars?

Doing my test run now - that reminds me of my regular, everyday road car. It's an economy car, and gets something around 50 HP too from an 1.0L straight-4 engine. I struggle in uphill sections of road - that's just what'll happen at the Nürburgring. Expect lap times of well over 10 minutes... :D

Edit: By the way, I won't be doing (or at least don't plan to do) a video for this scenario - it'll be too long, and I might be unable to upload it to sites like YouTube.

Huh? I do remember sending in my results way back. I don't remember my exact time anymore but it was quite near that of Shizuka's. Besides, why there's two Mitsubishis in there even though the only allowed cars were Mercedes?

The Mitsubishi thing is due to my own mistake. Well, I have no reason to not believe you. Do you think you can remember your laptime or achieve a similar one. If yes, you can send it to me again and I will include them in the time tables.
