Rupert Keegan wrote:Well, that was a bit disappointing. I have to say, this is a lot different from the Hesketh and the Surtees. Marshall seems to know exactly what he's doing, so I hope I can help the team up the grid if I get the opportunity to test again. In the meantime, there seems to be a crowd of scarcely-clothed ladies waiting for me over there...
James Hunt wrote:Well, I...This is absolutely disgraceful. The governing body should be ashamed of their conduct concerning this incident. It can be seen clearly from the photographs that the section of the circuit where myself and Mr Sutherland came to blows is rather narrow. If I had not moved over, my car would have impacted the wall causing a instantaneous retirement In the event proper, my car's braking system faded away, forcing me to park up, lest I risk a major accident with a fellow competitor. That Bruno chap who occasionally tests the car, will become my temporary replacement for the next three Grands Prix.

Harvey Jones wrote:Despite the seemingly disgruntled and somewhat childish remarks from the team, I have to say I'm delighted with 6th place, particularly after my puncture. At one point it seemed a podium was on the cards but nonetheless further points, as I said despite the puncture, is a solid result. It's a shame the team aren't recognising mine and Alan's efforts for what they are. I feel our performances are not being given the due credit they deserve, and I'm hoping this situation will rectify itself over the next few races.
Marshal Jenkins wrote:Bloody brakes this time. Can't effing believe it after I scraped into the race by the skin of me teeth. Over the sodding moon for Bepe though, our first race finish at our fourth attempt is something to be quite proud of, and the lads in the team will be moving onto the next race with smiles on their faces because of it. The testing we did has hit the team's budget though. There better be an upswing in sales on our premium product lines else we can forget testing again this year. The whole damn thing is just too bloody expensive.
Lotus wrote:Both drivers did well, the car just isn't as fast as we would like it to be.

Simone Guidetti wrote:This stupid James Hunt idiot, he made a stupid move, caused the Arrows ahead of me to crash and I was caught up in the follow up. The car is much better now, I think I could have been racing Gabbiani and Gauthier for 12th if the car kept going. Vaffanculo Hunt...
Corriere Della Sera wrote:F1: Brambilla to drive full time again?
After another poor showing by Elio de Angelis, his seat is under threat from veteran racer Vittorio Brambilla of Como. Brambilla has one race win for the March team, and was the fastest Merzario driver at the recent testing session at Kyalami. It is rumoured de Angelis only has three more races to prove himself against rookie team-mate Simone Guidetti before being cut loose from the team.
Looking further ahead into the future as a long term solution, Merzario are said to be interested in Beppe Gabbiani, after suggestions from Marshal Jenkins that his self-named team may not continue in F1 beyond the end of the year.
"Elio and Simone are our drivers," said Arturo Merzario. "These guys are both young but have potential. I stepped down from driving to give these young promising guys a fair shot, there's no point giving up on them so quickly."
Shadow Press Release:
We were disappointed with John failing to qualify, and also sad to see Keke retire when a point position wasn't out of the picture. The car is still new and the engine newer still so it'll take time to develop everything. We're confident we can continue to improve.

You are very happy with this race despite the fact that our driver did not finish it, just a pity that Martin is not qualified.

Frank Williams wrote:We need to improve the reliability of our car if we want to have a shot at the title. The car is clearly fast, we just need it to hold together more often. And, should any more collective test sessions happen, we'll bring prototypes of the Honda turbo engine we're due to use next year on the back of a revised FW07B chassis.

If you're thinking of the 6-wheeled version, then I'm sorry to dissapoint

It turns out that it is in fact the FW07C incorrectly labelled. I didn't realise it was wrong because the Wikipedia page says the FW07D was used in 1982, and I assumed the 6-wheel variant was a development of a normal 4 wheeled car. Sorry for getting your hopes up

Still bloody annoying though, especially seeing as Beppe has brought the car home again, but that's still a cracker of a result and two in two races is good for the team. Hopefully we'll get both cars into the race and to finish it as well next time out.
