Suzuka Race - Part Two

Here’s the arse-end of the field...
Image
Stan Frankham there with a Mazzacane tribute helmet
Image
Lappalainen is a bit ambitious, as he attempts a pass around the outside
Image
Reith draws closer as Nakaya makes a move for 4th...
Image
...as you see Douglas pass Pacer behind them.
Image
Voeckler and Columbo are having a fight between themselves
Image
Voeckler loses out...
Image
...as Grove comes out of nowhere to steal past at the Casio Triangle
Image
Grove now 15th.
Image
Aya and Scalabroni put some moves on
Image
Aya passes Pykalisto whilst Scalabroni has a go at Butler
Image
Pykalisto not giving up as Einhrin holds up Pacer
Image
Butler wrests 12th from Shukinen
Image
He’s now behind Scalabroni
Image
Shukinen fancies returning the favour...
Image
...but doesn’t make it.
Image
Douglas is unbelievably quick today, he’s now in 6th
Image
Reith still hasn’t passed Vosu.
Image
Kurniawan and Feldhoffer scrap behind Voeckler
Image
Ekdal far ahead
Image
Da Cunha’s had a quiet race; he’s fighting Feldhoffer...
Image
...as the German loses ground to Kurniawan and Voeckler
Image
They’re still in that order around the hairpin
Image
Mestach pops down the inside of Shukinen
Image
He can’t quite do the deed...
Image
...as Shukinen tries a move on Grove and Columbo tests Butler’s resolve
Image
Columbo’s fallen back into the clutches of Grove and Mestach before Casio Triangle
Image
and he loses out to them both.
Image
He’s got Shukinen for company
Image
Reith’s got Nakaya for company in his Andrea Moda...no, sorry, his V-Sport.
Image
Nakaya has a go...
Image
...as Vosu locks up at the hairpin
Image
This gives the following pack a chance
Image
Reith might have that...
Image
as Douglas looks down the inside of Nakaya on the run up to Spoon
Image
Ekdal’s rather dominant. He’s still striding away
Image
Pacer’s got clear track ahead
Image
Aya and Pykalisto are still fighting it out
Image
Come the chicane though, the Malaysian is well ahead
Image
Da Cunha gets a run at Voeckler...
Image
...but not only does the Frenchman stay ahead, he’s managed to pass Shukinen too!
Image
Now this is interesting, Douglas has cleared Vosu and Reith.
Image
Mestach, Butler and Grove line astern.
Image
Douglas’ view of the chasing pack; Reith’s finally ahead of Vosu
Image
Ekdal’s had a lonely day upfront
Image
Butler fancies a go at Mestach
Image
Shukinen’s haemorrhaged positions today, now Da Cunha wants a piece of the action
Image
There is the Finn...
Image
Hwok Kwol-Cho’s now 3rd
Image
Da Cunha on Shukinen...
Image
...not quite.
Image
Is De Boer pitting?
Image
Nope, he’s pulling off the track.
Image
Race over for the American...wait, where’d he go?
Image
And, ladies and gentleman, we have a race! Douglas is eating into Ekdal’s lead
Image
A Southern Cross on a New Zealander’s helmet? What is this?
Image
He is visibly closer to the Swede up the hill
Image
Kwol-Cho’s lost 3rd to Nakaya
Image
Da Cunha’s passed Shukinen, now Voeckler’s next up
Image
Matt Grove passes Hans Einhrin
Image
Feldhoffer in 19th.
Image
Douglas in 2nd.
Image
Aya’s now relieved Pacer of 7th.
Image
Voeckler and Da Cunha still at it...
Image
... and the Brazilian can’t seem to get the better of the Frenchman.
Image
Pacer won’t give up just yet...
Image
Simon Mestach in 11th
Image
Pykalisto looks for a way past Scalabroni
Image
Kurniawan’s ahead of Butler now
Image
As Aya and Pacer are still fighting away
Image
Pacer can’t seem to reclaim the position
Image
Douglas is right behind Ekdal now!
Image
The New Zealander’s done it on the straight!
Image
Image
Kwol-Cho still behind 3rd-placed Nakaya
Image
Shukinen’s under pressure from Lappalainen now...
Image
...and the Donkervoort driver’s got the job done
Image
Ekdal’s not letting this lie...
Image
Image
Da Cunha on what looks like Butler
Image
Einhrin started on pole. Now he’s 14th...
Image
Pacer’s under pressure from the Aeroracing of Scalabroni
Image
The Argentine’s tucked right up in his gearbox
Image
Mestach looks at Pykalisto for the final point
Image
Ekdal looks like he’ll have to settle for second
Image
Lappalainen is quite close to Voeckler...
Image
...but loses some ground at Spoon.
Image
James Douglas wins at Suzuka! Bjorn Ekdal takes second.
Image
Nakaya gets 3rd.
Image
Hwok Kwol-Cho gets 4th
Image
Anu Vosu’s got 5th, she might have hoped for more.
Image
Nestra Aya gets 6th
Image
Reith manages 7th, another who may wonder what might have been.
Image
Scalabroni pips Pacer to 8th.
Image
Mestach rounds out the top 10.

Kingfisher Racing:
We are pleased to get both cars home, although they fell through the field rather quickly. We feel the engines may have had something to do with this. We will appeal any fine/penalty/ban for Stan after the crash. We feel there was nothing he could do to avoid the car veering across in front of him.

Stan Frankham will receive a deduction of 20 performance points for the next race at Motegi. This is for causing an avoidable accident with Tantovich. I felt that the accident warranted more than a warning, so I've used the lowest perf deduction possible. The penalty isn't any higher as I felt that Tantovich was a little hasty on returning to the racing line.

Kingfisher Racing have the opportunity to appeal the decision.

I would also suggest that Miguel Silva is ROTR, considering he was deadbeat all weekend.

Kingfisher Racing will indeed appeal, especially as you said the other driver was 'a little hasty' in going back to the racing line ;). I would say its a 'racing accident'.

After an appeal from Kingfisher and a re-evaluation of the incident, Stan Frankham's 20-point Performance deduction will be suspended over the next 3 races.
- If he keeps himself out of trouble in those 3 races then the punishment will be dropped.
- If he finds himself at fault in a further incident in those 3 races, the deduction will be applied and further action may be taken if required.

I don't think I've seen eichy for a while, if he doesn't make an appearance come the end of the Winter Cup I'll probably let someone else take that team slot.

As Ferrarist is first on the reserve list, he's in line to take the team should that scenario occur. I'd just ideally like to keep everyone checking...

If I find that doing the images this way is a timesaver, I could possibly do two races per weekend as Wizzie suggested...

Well, I've run the race, and...erm, people retired en masse on the last lap. Only 5 cars finished.

Then DOSBox froze. I'm tempted just to blitz through the weekend with a smaller number of laps (which might have been the reason why everyone retired, perhaps running out of fuel...) and just repost qualifying and race results without a picture coverage.

Would this be OK for everyone?

Then DOSBox froze. I'm tempted just to blitz through the weekend with a smaller number of laps (which might have been the reason why everyone retired, perhaps running out of fuel...) and just repost qualifying and race results without a picture coverage.

Would this be OK for everyone?

Yeah, I have no problem with this.

In that case, here's the results of the re-run qualifying:

Apologies to the teams that this puts at a disadvantage compared to the last run, but it wasn't feasible to redo the race from the last qualifying as the mass retirement would most likely happen again. The race has been reduced to 20% to combat any further issues.

Race result to follow soon.

Winter Cup - Round 2 - Motegi Race

Apologies for the lack of picture coverage; after running the race once and it freezing I really couldn't sit through it again, pressing F12 ad nauseam...

Hopefully Fuji's good enough to make up for it :)

He was running as high as 2nd IIRC, and then I think he spun out. For some reason on this track the cars have trouble rejoining the track, usually waiting for the rest of the field to pass by.

However, looking at the field spread it's possible he had a failure on the last lap.
