ACF recognises UIT's right to organise a separate union of teams, but would like to remind RAM and any other team who believes that ACF is not dedicated to their interests that Osella is one of our founding members, and we are currently considering JLD and Restov Racing for membership. We are a union of all teams, both big and small, and infighting is only going to ruin our legitimacy and any negotiating power we currently hold.

Restov are now confirmed as the sixth member team of ACF. Now all we need to do is elect two leader teams to represent the association in discussions with FISA and in any other circumstance in which our presence is necessary.

Ligier is putting itself forward as one of these teams.

Yet another constructors organization is born. Ken Tyrrell has announced that he refused to work with the Association des Constructeurs Formule 1 (ACF - Association of Formula 1 Constructors), citing "pro-large constructor bias". The team also refused to join the Union of Independent Teams (UIT), as it "would only work with so-called minnows". Instead, Ken announced the Constructors' Assembly, a "more liberal and more open F1 constructors association".

The organization has invited some unaligned constructors to join the CA.

Any team is open to join the CA, as long you do not side with ACF or UIT. No restrictions! :D
(The name itself is partially inspired by NationStates' own World Assembly.)

And Ligier. They just need one more endorsement and they're our seventh member.

If any of the member teams have any suggestions about the running of the ACF, please feel free to contribute. It is important to remember that the views of the less well-established teams such as Restov and Osella will be just as valid as those of slightly older teams like Renault and Ligier. That is why we feel the rival unions of the CA and the UIT only serve to diminish the integrity of any teams' association, though we are willing to negotiate with them and any other potential union to further our common goal - to improve the standing of F1 teams.

Once we have eight member teams the two leaders of the ACF will be elected. Currently, the nominees are Ligier, Williams and Restov.

Merzario proposes the creation of SOFA; Sit On the Fence Association. For those teams who don't wish to align themselves with ACF, UIT or CA, SOFA will act only as an emergency framework should s*** kick off between the teams and FISA, at least giving us a unified voice should the worst come to the worst. A doomsday scenario aside, SOFA will essentially be a dormant association, with no day-to-day activity. There will be no agenda unless SOFA is required to kick into action as a reaction to events that is severely affecting its members.

Those who are not aligned with ACF, UIT and CA are all welcome to join. There are no obligations and you are free to leave at any time.

Unlike the other organisations, UIT is not exclusive, and teams who are member of the ACF, CA or SOFA are free to join UIT as well.
Basically our main goals are:
-keeping customer parts like engines and tyres affordable
-a better position to negotiate with track promotors
-the possibility to enter one-car teams and one-off entries.
-unlike other organisations, we do not waste our money on finding loopholes in the regulations, instead UIT stands for true innovation.
-protect workers
-have a barbeque every weekend

So welcome to Ensign, and Rebaque's interest is a big compliment. UIT is a horribly sounding nearly unpronounceable name, so if other members have a better proposal, be my guest ;)

1980 Brazilian Grand Prix

Qualifying

Image

Alan Jones took pole around the long Interlagos circuit, further highlighting Lotus' improved pace. Callum McAllister lined his Williams up in 3rd, ahead of the two Brabhams, Scheckter, Laffite, Jones, and Arnoux. Jan Lammers performed miracles in the RAM, while Andretti was strong in the Merzario, and Valentino Nicchi impressed on his debut, setting the 16th fastest time. Team mate Brancatelli was 20th, ahead of both Shadows, Takagi, and Rossler, who qualified an Ensign for the first time this year. Derek Daly and Rupert Keegan scraped onto the grid by a tenth of a second, with Ghinzani, Patrese, Mansell, Rangelov, Stohr, Nurmester, Horford, Prost, Depault, and O'Connell failing to make it.

Race

Image

Positives
Larry Perkins - Well, Australia recieves it's second Grand Prix winner in as many years, and you can't say he didn't deserve. Yes, Perkins may have gifted the lead by two mechanical failures - Alan Jones' and Callum McAllister's engines, if you want specifics - but he held on to that lead for 25 laps, despite pressure from team mate Nelson Piquet. When Piquet retired, new 2nd place man Harvey Jones couldn't keep up with the man from down under, with Perkins going on to win by 23 seconds. Drive of the Race

Lotus - Despite unreliability issues robbing Alan Jones of a certain win, Lotus are featured in the positives due to their ever impressive pace. Jones' pole confirmed that victory at South Africa was not a fluke, and the team were on the pace all weekend. Harvey Jones was consistent, if lacking that final bit of speed needed to take the win, and Alan Jones would have certainly won if not for that retirement. A title challenge is now expected from the British team, and they should be disappointed if their charge comes to nothing.

Negatives
Where to start?
Didier Pironi - What do you do if you've just qualified for your first race of the season? Take it easy to try and finish? Stay out of trouble? Well, that's what Pironi didn't do. At all. In fact, this may even be the dictionary proof of the phrase 'to not do something'. On lap 5, Pironi launched an ambitious move down the inside of the much faster Stefan Bellof. As Bellof turned into the corner, Pironi stuck his car down the inside, hittting Bellof's right rear wheel, putting Bellof out of the race instantly. Pironi, minus one front wing, spun, but was collected by Gianfranco Branncatelli. Brancatelli, with no where to go, ploughed straight into Pironi, putting him and Pironi out of the race. Thankfully, all 3 drivers walked away with no injuries, but Pironi did manage to bag himself Reject of the Race

Mario Andretti - When Marc Surer passed Mario Andretti on lap 2, while the pair were stuck behind Lammers, who thought that Mario would be stuck behind the Audi for a total of 35 laps? And when he did manage to pass Surer, with 3 to go, Surer promptly pulled into the pits to retire. And you thought David Coulthard was being original...

Jody Scheckter - Despite finishing 3rd, that doesn't tell the whole story. He only qualified 5th, and struggled to pass anyone all day, or make inroads into Harvey Jones.

Ferrari - Off the pace again all weekend, Rene Arnoux dropped like a lead balloon in the race, unsurprisingly. Then, both cars retired within a lap of each other. Oh, Ferrari only have one finish from 6 starts so far, and no points.

Awards
Reject of the Race - Didier Pironi (Tyrrell)
Drive of the Race - Larry Perkins (Brabham)
Premature Debut Award - Valentino Nicchi. Brake failure resulted in an alarming crash that somehow he walked away from.
1+2 = 456 Award - Mario Andretti, for somehow managing to finish 3 minutes behind the leader, when the average lap time is 2:22.XXX.
Close, but no Cigar - Marc Surer, for retiring on the penultimate lap.

You can now upgrade your cars again!

Here are the upgrade areas:
Increase engine torque (with a slight reduction to top speed)
Increase engine top speed (with a slight reduction to reliability)
Increase engine reliability
Decrease the random element of reliability (May make your car more or less likely to retire. It's a gamble)
Decrease chassis mass (no complications)
Decrease overall body drag (no complications)
Increase front wing downforce (no complications)
Decrease front wing drag (no complications)
Increase rear wing downforce(no complications)
Decrease rear wing drag (no complications)

REMEMBER - You can ask for a large upgrade in any area - but it is the least likely to be successful.
You can ask for a medium upgrade in any area - roughly middle ground in terms of successfulness.
You can ask for a small upgrade in any area - most likely to be successful.

But be warned - thee is a chance there may be a detrimental effect to your car! For each upgrade, there's a 5% chance it will make your car worse.

Testing
You can also hold tests on any track you wish (If it exists for rFactor, but most tracks do)
The new rule is that, starting from now, you can only hold 1 test every three races. Teams that tested before the Brazilian GP can test again. You don't have to hold a test, but tests that are not 'used' do not carry over to the next 3 race period.
:)
