AndreaModa wrote:Here's another proposal to throw at you lot.

I've recently been playing a fair bit of GT Legends, which has loads of old touring and GT cars from the 60s and 70s - stuff from Mini Coopers through to Porsche 911s, Ford GT40s, De Tomaso Panteras, Capris, Escorts, etc, etc, the list is endless.

Anyway, whilst it's impossible, for example to run a race of more than 6 Mini Coopers, I thought we could have a RWRS "Masters" or "Legends" series where the top guns of the RWRS over the years take part in a little mini-series over the off-season. I know Pointrox has tried this at least twice with the champions from each series, but my idea would be based purely around the "vets" - those either in retirement or not far off. Oh, and I'll actually run mine properly and finish it too. ;)

For example, drivers that I can think of off the top of my head could be: Chris Dagnall, Sammy Jones, Phoenix McAllister, Gary Cameron, Nathanael Spencer, Dave Simpson, John Zimmer, etc.

So I'm thinking possibly giving the full list of cars available, and each driver picking one, so we have a really varied field, but that is up for debate. What won't be possible is, like I said above, a one make series as the game doesn't allow it. The game does allow up to 35 cars at certain tracks though, so we're not limited in entries, and there's plenty of tracks from around Europe, off the top of my head I know there's Donington Park, Dijon, Andestorp, Hockenheim, Spa and Zolder and probably a couple more, so we could pick three or four and see how things go.

What do we think of that anyway? Is there mileage in an idea like this?

Sorry I missed this last time, but this sounds like a very good idea. You can never have too many tin top categories

Also, I had an idea for a one-off event that no one noticed during the F1RWRS coverage (damn you McFry! )
I was planning to hold a massive event featuring many drivers from the RWRS canon at the end of the year, consisting of a few heat races and one-on-one match races to find a winner. With everyone riding lawnmowers
How does that sound?

AndreaModa: the GT Legends idea sounds interesting, especially because it seems that Wizzie's F1 Masters idea is not going to happen either. Besides, we need more championships with old cars, not just the current ones. :)

Speaking of interested in categories, when on earth is that V8 Supercars series going to start? I've been dying for it to start for ages now.

The GT Legends series sounds like a great idea, AndreaModa. I think it would be possible to have a one make series in that game if you add more skins to the game, but I'm not quite sure how to do that - unless it's the same as rFactor. There's also quite a lot of add on car models and tracks available around the 'net as well.
This is a cool spot.

It might be started soon as I will have most of Wednesday and Thursday free to get it prepared. I now plan to use Xkorinate as my original plan was both too ambitious and too similar to Samster's BTCC league. I can't guarantee it will be done by then but I will try quite hard.

But I sort of get the impression that only a couple of forum members are interested.

I'd be interested in a V8 Supercars series. As well as the lawnmower thingy. And GT Legends, why not.

Yeah I thought that might be the case. I'll have a poke around and see what I can find out as there's still a fair bit of time before we get to the end of the current season, which is when I'll look at starting this as an off-season filler for a bit of added interest.

Right, well given that my last championship, whilst well subscribed, was a big waste of time, I'm back with another idea- Rejects of Formula One Ninety Seven (RoFONS). Basically, each forum member runs a team on the game (it'll be renamed on the reports obviously) and picks the drivers, as in the RWRS. This series is actually intended to be RWRS-cannon, but rather than racing at all the same tracks, will use tracks in the same country (where possible). Of course, one car on the game has to be user controlled, so I'll have to drive round at the back, not getting in anyones way, which means that one of the teams will be single-driver. Hope this all makes sense, would anyone be interested?

Post your general idea here, and if someone likes it, and has the motivation and time to run the series, he will pick up your idea. But if you really want a series to take place, then run it yourself.

Yeah, it doesn't necessarily have to be on PC. You can just run the races as usual on XBox, take the results and then rename the drivers according to what the users have chosen.

Exactly, it's not as if the PC version of WRC has any advantage over the Xbox version for running a series like this, since drivers can't be renamed in game and only one car can be seen on stage - that being the player's car. If you want custom liveries for the series, then I can make these in career mode with edited sponsors for the in game livery editor... though bear in mind these will only be for screenshots.

Why the hell do they think it's a virus!? Anybody who's spent more than 10 seconds researching it can pretty safely conclude that it isn't. Not that it really matters much; I don't think a Garry's Mod virtual series would run all that well, especially on a laptop...

As speaking about series I'm thinking of a new series, but I don't believe I have the time. However, it would be based on Xkoronate and it would recreate F1, starting from mid 90-es.
What I believe it will be new is the introduction of chief designers who can develop faster and/or better car updates (mainly from season to season). That way it will be possible that some teams jump ahead of others from season to season or even during a season.

The idea is simple - every designer will have a multiplier (from 0,8 up to 1.5) which would be combined with the points from any update. The hint is that noone except me (or the one running the series) knows exactly what is the quality of the designer. However some of them will cost more than others, but this may not represent their real value. Also designer quality will change every season, depending on race results.

A new feature will be expectations. I''m planning to divide teams to three groups - top teams, average teams and tail teams. At first all teams from the same group will start with equal cash. Based on results they will get different bonuses. For example a 6th place from a front runner is not that good as 6th place for a Minardi. If Minardi is performing above expectations, they will get more money compared to Ligier for example. So that if lets say top teams are getting 10 millions usually as sponsorship, if they have a bad year they'll receive just 6 and if they won the title, they may get 12.

These are just ideas and I'm not quite sure they will be realized in my own series, but If someone is interested - he can use them.
To finish first, first you have to finish!

Right, getting away from the events of the last 24 hours or so, I wanted to check to see how much interest there is in me running an F1RWRS Legends mini-series now that the main 2015 season is pretty much over. As I said before, the game used will be GT Legends, which offers a massive selection of old touring and GT cars from the mid 60s to mid 70s, so the perfect sort of thing for all the old boys of the championship to go racing in. The calender will be three or four races long perhaps, made up of some well-known tracks in Europe. In terms of drivers, as it's a "legends" series there will be some fairly strict criteria as to who can participate, and only with the drivers' owners' permission will I allow anyone to race. I'm looking to kick things off with the first race this weekend if it has the support of members who own drivers who will likely enter. So by that I mean specifically Wizzie (Melrose), TMLW (Zimmer brothers), Phoenix (McAllister), WarrenHughes (Cameron), MinardiFan95 (Simpson), Pasta (Koczo), dr-baker (Mann siblings), Aerond (C Dagnall) etc, etc you get the idea. I know that some members might miss these messages so if we go ahead with this I intend to message them to make them aware of the series and see if they're interested, so that we try and get as many possible old timers involved as possible! So, do we think this is a go-er?

It's a goer for me, it'll fit in with the IC 100 F1RWRS races celebrations and the OOC 2 years of Aerond control anniversary. No need to mail me about permission, you have my permission to include Koczo as he wasn't mine to start with - this goes to all other members planning something like this in the future.

Will everyone be driving the same car? I think that if this is a legends series, aiming to find the best of the old guard, then they should all drive the same car to let their skills do the talking :)

It would fit very nicely into those celebrations actually, thats a good point. I hadn't thought of that!

As for cars, I was willing to open it up as there's so many to pick from, plus the game is limited in some respects in how many of one car can be entered into a race (for example I know there's only a maximum of six mini coopers available). The fact there's so many means that there'll be enough decent ones to go around so no-one is at much of a dis-advantage. If it becomes a problem then we can allocate cars based on a lottery system perhaps.

Like I said earlier, that sounds like a good idea. Even though I'll be a mere spectator as none of my drivers are even close to achieving legend status. :)

Yeah sure, this sounds like a great idea to me. As for car limits, I think we should pick out 3-4 noticeably different cars, and then have a rotation system so each driver has one race in a car.

I would be happy for the two Mann siblings to be entered. Sounds like a good plan, and I wouldn't even mind if everybody were in the same or different cars...
