Surprised that nobody has mentioned Gilles Villeneuve and Alain Prost. For my money, that would have been fascinating to watch, a bit like Senna/Prost in terms of driving styles except perhaps with more mutual respect and less animosity between Villeneuve and Prost?
(Although I have to admit that much as I liked Prost, he didn't have the best track record for harmonious relationships with teammates...)

That would be something. Gilles Villeneuve was however far more respecting of team orders than Ayrton Senna and didn't complain when Ferrari ordered him to allow Scheckter to win the championship.

Steve Soper - Jason Plato. They'd surely get disqualified for deliberately crashing into the entire field between the both of them.

Michael Schumacher and Jacques Villeneuve for Ferrari in 1999. Both with equal driver #1 contracts, of course.

And therefore Eddie Irvine / Ricardo Zonta at BAR?

Don't know. I didn't think that far, actually, since this threat doesn't ask for it.
But now that you've brought it up: Since Villeneuve left Williams at the end of 1998 (and went straight to Ferrari in my version), it's also possible Irvine would have been hired alongside Zanardi by Williams. They were in desperate need of good and fresh input, and Irvine had all the Ferrari knowledge. Ralf could have stayed at Jordan, although he claimed that he hated Eddie (Jordan). BAR would always have gone for a good developer alongside newcomer Zonta, so that leaves us with these possible pairings for 1999:
Ferrari: Michael Schumacher / Jacques Villeneuve
Williams: Eddie Irvine / Alessandro Zanardi
Jordan: Heinz-Harald Frentzen / Ralf Schumacher
BAR: Damon Hill / Riccardo Zonta
It's very hypothetical, because without Pollock and Villeneuve, BAR would have never existed anyway. And I only want to see the explosive Schumacher-Villeneuve-Combination at Ferrari.
