Round 15 - Monza
After a lengthy summer break, the REECCS travelled to Monza - quite a difference from the indoor kart track at Bercy. However, this wasn't just the GP circuit, no this was the full track including the oval, the REECCS being the first series to run this configuration in many years. The usual suspects in qualifying - Skoda and Polski Fiat - were languishing towards the rear of the grid due to their lower power outputs. Dacia looked to be dominant in qualifying, with Davies and Seron taking out the front row. This led to a battle that continued throughout the race. Meanwhile, at the back of the pack, the Trabants were entertaining the crowd with a syncronised rollover display in the chicanes, at times joined by some spinning Polski Fiats.
Back at the front, the Lada's of Richie White and Frank Montana were rapidly closing on the leaders, and on the final lap Montana tried to pass Davies, but hit the curb and rolled, sending Davies into the gravel and promoting White to second. Seron then took a comfortable lead and eventually won by almost 5 seconds.

Other very good Soviet cars include Moskvich "Aleko" that we not steal design from French rat people, no, really. Also Izh-2126 that we steal from ourselves (look like what Western capitalist pigs call "Lada Samara"), Zaporozhets from almost-glorious Ukraine for very poor people who not afford proper car (we not like proper car in glorious socialist utopia, though). In diligent satellite states come FSO Polonez of Polish people, strange Tatra for posh Czech people (kulaks, we think, send to labour camps), tiny Lastun of Romanians, also many models of Zastava, though we do not trust Yugoslavia people since Marshal Tito say to great leader Stalin to bathplug off, they may ruin their country some day.

Pravda today report that maybe more vehicles of glorious socialist republics appear in REECCS?

Before we get onto the round review, I have to say that I've bathplugged up (again) and forgot to turn replays on, so there will not be any highlights from rounds 15 and 16.

Round 16 - Lienz

(I'm going with Tristan1117's positives/negatives approach for this round review)

Positives
Scuderia Alitalia - After a hugely forgettable debut at Monza where both cars languished down in 27th and 28th, the Scuderia Alitalia Polski-Fiat's were much more at home on the short circuit at Lienz. Krzysztof Holowczyc led the race for a few laps, before getting stuck behind the Wartburg of Wouter Lamberights, eventually finishing 2nd, while Evgeny Zelenov opened up his points tally with a 9th place

Kristof Detmer - Since moving to Skoda mid-season, Detmer hadn't done well at all, scoring a 2nd at San Jose and then seemingly dropped off the radar. However that changed today with Detmer taking his first REECCS race win.

Jason Hamilton - A strong race for the Raikkonen-esque driver, who was running in the top 3 early on before getting stuck in traffic and dropping to 7th, which is his best REECCS result

Negatives
Lada - For the first time in REECCS history, not one Lada scored a point. Vladimir Putin is very disappointed.

Series Leaders - O'Lauchlan and Bellic were the worst of the Skoda drivers today, finishing 11th and 13th respectively

Kay Lon - Finished a lap down on Ricky Bobby. Need I say more?

Wartburg - Yet again, slowest of the sedans.

Remember to enter a second driver for the enduros, as I'll be running them in the next few weeks.

Meerwick finished on the lead lap? Not bad.
Were there any Wartburg drivers ahead of him? This car has to be the WORST overall on the grid.

Does this apply to teams who already have two full time drivers? Do we need co-drivers for each car if we already have two cars?

Well, I have teamed up with Lamberigts to run the works Wartburg team, so I'm fine. I think you have also done something about it before, can't quite remember it though.

In car #51, former Lada Sport driver and team principal Viktor Shapovalov will be partnering Evgeny Zelenov, who were formerly team-mates at Russian Bears Motorsport.

The enduro entry list is on page 10 if you are unsure whether you've entered or not.

dr-baker - yes, you have already chosen Douglas Mann as your second driver.

kostas, would I be able to enter Phil McCracken alongside Crazy Dave Coulthard in an Irn Bru sponsored car?

Indeed, you would.

Phil McCracken is going to use this as an evaluation drive, and, if he likes the series, will be open to offers from teams for a full season in REECCS next season (that's if there even will be a second season...)

It should be noted he brings sponsorship from McEwan's Lager, for any team that is interested.
