You've got it all wrong if you're going to use bikers. Two- & four-wheel legend, not to mention F1 Reject, Kunimitsu Takahashi.
But how could we go this far down the line of Japanese drivers and not mention MASAMI KUWASHIMA!

There hasn't been any news. If anyone has applied, they're keeping their mouths shut.
Unofficially, however, there is apparently an organisation known as Cypher that wants to be America's next team. All they have is a Facebook page, though.

Stefan's back...
Stefan GP have officially announced their bid for the 2011 championship, and if that wasn't enough, they have also confirmed plans to build a technology centre and F1 track in Serbia.
The Serbian outfit, led by Zoran Stefanovic attempted to enter the 2010 season at short notice, but the FIA refused the entry, despite there being an opening thanks to the failure of USF1.
In a statement on their new website (here), Mr Stefanovic announced plans to build a technology park, including a 3.5km F1 ready circuit featuring 16 corners and a 807m straight.
"I think this is an excellent development for our team, Stara Pazova city, region and country," Mr Stefanovic said. "This is proof that we want to put ourselves on the map as a serious hi-tech company, and that we are serious about competing in Formula One for the long term.
"Bearing in mind that we will soon be on a par with top teams, in terms of facilities and organisation, as Stefan Technology Park looking to be compared with them, we expect many positive improvements in the future."
The statement added: "StefanGP would also like to officially announce our bid for the FIA 2011 Formula One World Championship."

There's still that never-say-die attitude that I like from Stefan GP, but they are still just conmen right? Their 'yearly profit' of whatever it was, 500 euro or something like that, isn't enough to even put the €1000 initial entry fee!... Looks like the FIA priced Stefan out of the competition
Seriously though, where is their technical support coming from now? Are they going to be a startup team based in Serbia, have they bought Toyota's old gear and moved it to Belgrade? It's all well and good saying things, but until they produce real results we can't get too excited... remember even USF1 provided more info and evidence of work than these guys...
I admire their spirit and chutzpah I really do, but until we see a Stefan GP entry and subsequently a car, you've got to assume these guys are just dodgy Eastern European blokes (no offence meant to anyone) who think racing car super, team make so drive F1!

That background picture has been stolen from CTDP - a modding group which I am part of. We take care of Mods for the game rFactor (might sound familiar to some of you) and have started a 2009 project which has been cancelled meanwhile. However, the Ferrari has actually been finished and I've seen this very render about half a year ago.

Stefan GP announce 2011 bid
STEFAN GP would like to make a public announcement that the AMCO Corporation and its owner Zoran Stefanovic have today signed an agreement with the Mayor of Stara Pazova, located 25km from Belgrade , Serbia , to build the STEFAN TECHNOLOGY PARK . This will include a racing circuit suitable for the competition of Formula One, and a technical complex that will serve as STEFAN GRAND PRIX’s team headquarters upon completion in two years time.
“I think this is an excellent development for our team, Stara Pazova city, region and country,” Mr Stefanovic said today. “This is proof that we want to put ourselves on the map as a serious hi-tech company, and that we are serious about competing in Formula One for the long term.”
“Bearing in mind that we will soon be on a par with top teams, in terms of facilities and organisation, as Stefan Technology Park looking to be compared with them, we expect many positive improvements in the future,” concluded Stefanovic.
StefanGP would also like to officially announce our bid for the FIA 2011 Formula One World Championship.
The plans for the circuit are as follows:

807.21m home straight,
15m width - home straight,
12m width - rest of circuit,
Straights – 5
Corners – 16

They're just as surprised as I am, so no, Stefan GP never asked for permission. Contacting them would be possible but if they deny it, there won't be much we can do. Bernie seems to support Stefan GP and we're modding Formula One which is a juristic twilight zone. We might get in serious trouble if we start focusing on that problem so I think we'll just have to live with it.

Expecting Stefan to be honest now, given how dishonest he has been in the past, is hoping for a bit too much from him, so I'm not surprised that he has "borrowed" your model (and by the way, may I congratulate CTDP on their excellent work (the 2006 mod is a masterpiece)). After all, I highly doubt that they actually talked to half of the drivers they list on their website, and I am suspicious of their "involvement" in this new facility being built in Serbia (it may turn out to be like their "involvement" with the German military, which turned out to be utterly fabricated).

Their turnover was €500 - their actual profit was about €40, and they had only one employee - you won't get far with that. On a more serious note, the Toyota deal was conditional on Stefan GP getting a plac in 2010, so Toyota has now withdrawn it's support (and, crucially, their parts, equipment and engineers are now being deployed into Toyota's other racing divisions). They essentially have nothing, and are going to go nowhere with the FIA.
So, as things stand, we still only have two companies who have actually formally applied to the FIA, and might be accepted (I'm setting aside Stefan GP because the FIA isn't going to accept their offer, to put it bluntly).
Curretly, those two entrants are Durango and Epsilon Euskadi. Out of those, the latter is probably more likely to win, simply because the former has already gone bust in GP2 (and their funding looks quite shaky at the moment), and they have been accused (although they dispute the charges) of disregarding safety measures in GP2 - which is surely going to count against their bid.

The only thing that Stefan has is hot air. The only Stefan car you'll ever see on a track will be the one competing with the USF1. They are using all this "drama" for publicity. Let's face it, they've had world wide publicity, not bad for a stunt.

Not the team, but the kit yes. I think it was Martin Whitmarsh who said he was surprised no-one bid for it. If HRT, for example, are having to reverse-engineer the car after Dallara has more or less left them to it, one has to think they'd probably be better off with the Toyota than with something pundits agree to be very simplistic, limited base.

The problem is, Stefan got in there and essentially sat on the parts, probably hoping to turn a quick buck from what was going to be the TF110. Evidently, nobody wanted the parts, which is odd (there were some suggestions that Ken Andersen from USF1 vetoed an attempt by Windsor to buy the TF110, preferring the team to fold instead of admitting defeat). Assuming that the car was reasonably well developed, it would probably have been no further off the pace then the current entrants, and most likely several seconds a lap faster, as you suggest. It would also have been a great chance for the teams to acquire equipment and staff inexpensively - both things which would chew through capital otherwise.
So, why didn't they go for it? Perhaps Toyota was asking for too much (after all, the development wouldn't have been cheap, and the facilities were some of the best in F1) - but if Stefan could buy it (and incidentally, where did he get the money for Toyota to sell parts to him?), then why couldn't others afford it? Alternatively, there might have been problems with fitting the Cosworth engine - but the standardised engine layout would have meant that it shouldn't have been too difficult. After that, I really can't see why they would have been so unpopular.

For the sake of F1Rejects, I really hope the FIA admits one of these teams and gives Jamie and Enoch more fodder.
For the sake of Formula One, I hope the FIA says no to all of them.
Re: New 2011 team(s)
thehemogoblin wrote:Does the FIA have to accept anyone this time around?
Of course they don't... if they don't think the entrants are good enough to compete with sustainable finance and infrastructure they can tell them no thanks, especially after the failings of the system last year (though the FIA can be forgiven for trying to fill a grid with teams when the FOTASCHMOTA guys were setting up FEB...)...
They need to let the Basque McLaren, Epsilon Euskadi have a shot... They have the factory (a beautifully McLaren-esque building) and staff, and an F1 entry on top of that would be a bonus for potential sponsors (and not just the Spanish ones Adrian Campos was so adamant on finding)... My only worry with these guys is that the only car they've built, the LMP1 car, hasn't done much racing and when it did... it wasn't very good... but there's plenty of F1 staff out there without jobs right now...
