Like I posted in the ROTR thread Kobayashi for being a Kamakaze, and making 4 mostly spectatular passes putting on a great show for his homecountry crowd.

Seeing as its the Japanese GP...

1. Yamamoto - Getting closer to Senna every race in qualifying, and held up Glock for a long time. Not quite as dreadful as I thought he was.

2. Kobayashi - Being entertaining isn't really a surprise any more, but still deserves a vote for pure awesomeness.

also, a supplementary mention to Sauber for running a car with some sponsors on it!

Although performance like this one are becoming more regular, I think the award has to go to Kobayashi, esp. when taken in relation to the previous race.

Besides him, Hamilton and Schumacher did anyone overtake anyone else on track after the 1st lap? Therefore to overtake probably 4 times more cars than anyone else is pretty good going :)

Also, as no-one else has mentioned him, I think Hamilton deserves some credit after all the adversity he faced during the build-up to the race with crashing, gearbox issues, etc. To come from
8th to what would have been 4th and seemingly been able to catch Alonso whilst Button just pootled round doing nothing was, whilst not of infinite improbability, certainly a performance of high quality,
well until the gremlins kicked in again anyway ...

Well, when you think he cannot surprise you any more, he amazes all of us again... so I think he should!

It was mighty close! The results may not translate it, but Schumacher had the measure of Kobayashi down to the very last half-a-dozen votes or so, and only the did he take off.

Code: Select all

Nominee    Points
Kamui Kobayashi    204
Michael Schumacher    144
Nick Heidfeld    72
Sakon Yamamoto    62
Sauber    42
Heikki Kovalainen    22
Lotus    6

It's a measure of the quality that Kamui has been showing that he chicanes around half the field twice and a good part of us go Meh!...
