Schumi you imbecile! Under this system, Michael Schumacher had this championship wrapped up after Villeneuve's disqualification at Suzuka, having an 11 point lead going into Jerez. As such, his move on Villeneuve was completely pointless and it cost him the championship after he'd already been crowned! Schumacher really did seem to benefit under this system. In fact, from Canada onwards, the championship lead was always his. In contrast, Villeneuve only scored points when he won (7 times) apart from a 2nd in Jerez. Frentzen therefore managed to perform quite well, with 7 points finishes, only being overtaken by Alesi. Irvine on the other hand was shocking with only 9 points, equating to 12th in the championship. That's 12th behind a certain Mr Hill who managed to boost his points haul up to 13 by scoring in Germany and Austria in top of Britain and Hungary. Diniz got a respectable 5 points as well, and a podium at the Nurburgring! Panis was 3rd in the championship before his crash in Canada. Otherwise, there were quite a few non-scorers.

Damon Hill was in control of this championship throughout. He scored only once more than Villeneuve (8 vs 7), but these were all 1st places. After 4 wins in the first 5 races, everyone else was having to play catch up, with Schumacher being the main challenger in the first half of the season, and then Alesi in the second half. Alesi in fact got a superb 8 2nds in the year, without ever getting a win! Hill's lead was 30 points after the 9th race at Magny-Cours, and despite an end of season slump, where Villeneuve collected most of his points, the championship was won at Portugal (2nd to last race), despite 4 consecutive no scores by Hill. Panis and Salo moved up a few spots under this system. Irvine scored as many points as he did in real life, but slipped down a couple of spots. Ricardo Rosset scored a point at Spa (a driver's circuit no less!) and Fisichella scored at Montreal.

Williams cantered to the constructors crown, with Ferrari only holding off Benetton due to Schumacher's wins. Tyrrell got closer to Sauber (whom it seems really benefited from Petronas engines following this season). Otherwise, little else to report.

Thinking backwards, next possible champion change may be 1987 as Mansell will take a lot of points from Piquet, Piquet finished a lot more but Mansell often beat him when they both did. Senna and Prost dominated their respective team-mates, so that one could be interesting!

Another easy title for Schumacher. He actually scored one more point than in real life under this system (I've found that they generally score less), and the Williams just couldn't keep up. The title was won by Schumacher with a win at home at the Nurburgring, the 4th to last race of the season, and the 7th of Schumi's 9 wins that season. Alesi was again a beneficiary under this system, finishing 3rd whilst the likes of Coulthard (6 points finishes) and Herbert (4 points finishes) scored far less frequently. Frentzen was also a big mover up to 6th with 12 point scoring finishes including a 3rd at Monza. Salo benefits again by doubling his points! Katayama, Papis, Diniz, Lamy, and Martini all scored. Badoer didn't

In the constructors, the title still belongs to Benetton despite Herbert's lack of contribution. Ligier gained a stack of points to comfortably jump McLaren despite finishing 6 points behind them in real life (Ligier scored 4 podiums to McLaren's 3 under this system). Sauber also comfortably cleared Jordan due to Frentzen's heroics. Tyrrell moved clear of Footwork, whilst out of the reject teams, Forti was the only team able to score (through Diniz).

And Damon Hill snatches it! I predicted an easy championship for Schumacher because he had 3 teammates in the year, none of whom scored consistently. Furthermore, he was disqualified from a few races and therefore couldn't lose that many points. However, it turned out that Hill was never defeated by his teammate in a race that he finished. His 8th place in, ironically, Germany was converted into a 5th to give him the 2 points needed to jump Schumi in the championship! To be honest, not much to report elsewhere as quite a few teams had one established driver and then another seat that was swapping drivers. Fittipaldi picked up a podium for Footwork whilst Bernard lost his 3rd place in Germany as Panis finished 2nd! Herbert and Beretta also put points on the board.

In the constructors, it was actually quite close as Williams' second drivers meant little. Mansell's win at Adelaide actually secured the championship for Williams as Herbert, Hill, and Schumacher all retired. Tyrrell overtake Ligier (Bernard's lost podium cost them), whilst Herbert scored Lotus' points in their final season. Simtek still failed to score!

Would have been difficult for Prost to have lost this one, but plaudits must go to Senna for dragging a crapbox McLaren to 12 points behind Prost. Early in the season, Damon Hill showed he was no pushover by beating Prost on a couple of occasions whilst Senna had no such problems with Andretti. After Canada, despite Prost's win, Senna led the championship by 2 points, but victories in the next 3 races for Prost pushed him clear whilst the McLaren's performance sagged. Prost won the championship with 2nd in Portugal as Senna failed to score. Schumacher was on the podium whenever he finished in 1993, so it's not surprising to see him beat Hill to 3rd place. Both Ligiers moved up the order to 5th and 7th (from 7th and 10th) respectively due to consistent points finishes (or fringes of the points in real life). Patrese slips from 5th to 10th after being battered by Schumacher. Good points hauls for Wendlinger, Lehto, and Fittipaldi, a podium for Barrichello, and points for Aguri Suzuki. Zanardi keeps the point that he earned in real life. Hakkinen loses his podium in Japan.

Williams are still comfortable in the constructors and Benetton are still relatively close to McLaren. Like 1995, Ligier finish a good few points (5) behind a competitor (Ferrari) in real life, but comfortably beat them here. Sauber move clear of Lotus. Barrichello's podium puts them ahead of Larrousse, as Lola and Tyrrell still fail to score.

Finally got back round to this. I actually did the workings for this one ages ago.

No prizes if you guessed Our Nige would hang onto his title. He scored as many points as in real life, but under this points system, no one even gets half of the points that he does. Scoring 1st or 2nd in every race he finished (as in real life), he won the championship after Hungary (rather than Belgium) as his only challenger, Michael Schumacher, failed to score. Ayrton Senna actually ends up beating Schumacher by virtue of win count, both of their team mates also being relatively competitive against them over the season (in 4th and 5th respectively). Obviously Patrese wasn't quite such a competitive team mate, losing 42 points and sliding from 2nd to 9th in the standings. Standout performances are Alboreto and Hakkinen, the former scoring 10 times during the season, and the latter earning 2 podiums. Lehto, Morbidelli, Suzuki, and Gugelmin all manage to score here unlike in real life, whereas Capelli actually managed to lose a point!

No change in the top 3 in the constructors, Williams the clear winners with Benetton winning McLaren close for 2nd. Beneath that is all change. Ferrari only just hung on to 4th from a Hakkinen-inspired Lotus team. Footwork found an extra 15 points to jump both Ligier and Tyrrell, whilst Dallara and Minardi did likewise to March. Funnily enough, Andrea Moda don't score.

An annoying amount of drivers this season drove for more than one team (I'm looking at you Moreno!). Senna extends his winning margin from 24 to 26 points over Mansell in a dominant season. Senna's low retirement count seemed to suggest he had a lot to lose under this points method, but Berger could only beat Senna only 3 occasions that season (hence only 6th in the championship), whilst Mansell and Patrese were more equal and took points off of each other. Prost crept up to 4th and increased his podium count to 7, but did not actually increase his points haul. Piquet and de Cesaris profited from having changing team mates during the year, whilst there are a few outstanding results; 2nds for Modena (as in real life), and Lehto, 3rds for de Cesaris and Martini. Gugelmin racks up 5 points whereas he did not score in real life. Bailey and Nakajima both scored in real life but lose their points here.

The constructors championship is closer, but McLaren still hang on to the win. Similarly Ferrari come under pressure for Benetton but hold on. Minardi double their points tally, and Leyton-Hose go from 1 to 9 points. Ligier and Modena score here but not in real life.

Fair enough, I got 74 points for Senna when working out 1990 though.

Felt sorry for Moreno though losing his only ever podium, he also lost the chance of one in belgium 1991 too being behind Piquet!

At least he unrejectified himself in 1991, plus he'd get 2 or 3 points at the 1987 Australian Grand Prix, depending on whether Yannick Dalmas gets the points, if he does then he is unrejectified with 4th place, as Ferrari scored a 1-2.
