Mine would be Ilmor 2175A, like the one used in '91 Leyton House.

The Assoluto engine used by RT Solvalou is based on the 1990 Lamborghini engine, which Aguri Suzuki used to bring best result of Larrouse: 3rd position. ;)

Kudos for your efforts FMecha and Bleu.

If you wonder when the series gets off the ground, don't worry. I just came up with an ingenious way of giving each driver his Racing- and Qualifying-Grid. I won't tell you how yet , but you'll see when I post the first pre-qualifying results. As for the engines, I just used the data from the internet. But I'm confident that the engines are nicely balanced. And if not...there's always performance balancing. :D

EDIT: Which means that you're not allowed to switch to a different engine in the middle of the season. ;)

www.autosport.com wrote:First Pre-Qualifying in SRL history brings few surprises

It's pre-qualifying time in the Street Racing League! 33 Cars were in the hunt for the top 28 spots, in the wild streets of Sao Paolo. While this wasn't the "real" qualifying yet, the lap times gave already an impression about the class of the field. As expected, the Bugatti engined Team Cyprus cars were found at front of the field. A little surprise was delivered by Heinz-Harald Frentzen, who placed himself between the two Cyprus', yet was more than a second off Tsingiridis' time. The grid is far apart, with the slowest time by Sebastien Loeb being more than 10 seconds away from the best lap time by said Tsingiridis. Loeb's abyssmal performance surprised many pundits, since he is an eight-time World Rally Champion after all. However, his team mate Gilles Panizzi didn't fare better, making Prada Grand Prix the only team of the grid, which hasn't at least one car in the actual qualifying. Here are the complete pre-qualifying results:

1. Constantinos Tsingiridis - Skoda Team Cyprus-VW – 1:14.827
2. Heinz-Harald Frentzen - Euromotor-Honda – 1:15.992 (+1.165s)

5. Michael Schumacher - Team Phoenix SRL-Audi – 1:16.977 (+2.150s)
6. Jason Bargwanna - Garry Rogers SRL Motorsport-Cosworth – 1:17.013 (+2.186s)
7. Michael Caruso - Garry Rogers SRL Motorsport-Cosworth – 1:17.305 (+2.478s)
8. Bertrand Gachot - Euromotor-Honda – 1:17.576 (+2.749s)
9. Alain Prost - Team Phoenix SRL-Audi – 1:17.780 (+2.953s)

33. Sebastien Loeb - Prada Grand Prix-Lamborghini – 1:25.034s (+10.207s)

OT: As you might have guessed, I just took randomly calculated numbers for each driver. But again, having a good qualifying performance doesn't ensure a good race performance. As for the qualifying and race: It comes on sunday/monday.

what, nissany is only 1.6 seconds slower than duval , the fastest asphalt rally driver ever (not the best, because he couldn't manage to actually finish a rally) in the same car?
but i'm pleased by the performance, considering the team only has experience in running outdated lightrail/metro's, which is not that different from racing cars, except that
there's more overtaking in metro networks.

Just wait a couple of Grand Prixs. Granted, the Holdens aren't the strongest engines in the grid. But as I said, there will probably be performance adjustments after some races. On the other hand, maybe I'll allow an engine change mid-season. But my fear is that everyone will go for the Bugatti engines.

I'd like to say that this is my first season I simulate here, and to be honest, it's a bit like trial-and-error. I'll use this first season to figure out what to do and what not to do in a (hopefully) second season. Until then, let's just chill a bit. ;)

Well, but it's not like you could chance a thing about it. Also, Sebastien friggin Loeb didn't even qualify. It could have been much worse. What I want to say is, sit back and just watch how your team is doing.

www.autosport.com wrote:Qualifying goes on as one might have expected

When Team Holden's sudden withdrawal makes the hottest story on qualifying day, then you know everything about the "excitement" of this qualifying season. As expected, the Bugatti-engined Skodas places themselves at the front of the grid, with Heinz-Harald Frentzen placing himself between the two. Sounds familiar? It gets better. Qualifying more or less mirrored pre-qualifying, with some slight exceptions. Gillet-ENB benefited from Holden's withdrawal, as both cars were in the qualifying. Eric Bachelart's car didn't qualify however, as well as Juan-Pablo Montoya's.

As for Holden's withdrawal: The team wasn't pleased about the rather controversial ban on mid-season engine changing. Despite having one driver in the qualifying, the team withdrew. A replacement is coming however, as Glass Hammer Racing will field an all-female team from the Las Vegas double-header on. Walther Williams however isn't pleased with losing a team, and thus thinks about relaxing the engine rules and/or restricting the more powerful engines as well as giving weaker engines a performance boost.

Results of the qualifying:
1. Constantinos Tsingiridis - Skoda Team Cyprus-VW – 1:14.751
2. Heinz-Harald Frentzen - Euromotor-Honda – 1:15.902 (+1.151s)
3. Rubens Barrichello - Skoda Team Cyprus-VW – 1:16.185 (+1.434 s)

www.autosport.com wrote:New regulations regarding mid-season engine change announced
Shortly before the first ever Street Racing League round at Sao Paolo, the President of the SRL announced a change in engine regulations. From now on, all teams are allowed to change their engines, but only once a season. This new regulation is seen as a reaction to the controversy surrounding the former engine regulations. It remains to be seen if and when teams will switch their engines.

ESPN actually brought back Speedworld, Bob Varsha and of course, David Hobbs. It just takes five seconds until Hobbs emphasizes the "millions of dollars of equipment" being raced today, which he does quite a lot during the afternoon. Varsha and Hobbs also commentate the race, for viewers in North America at least. Viewers in Britain are for example treated to commentary by Carlton Kirby, Andrew Marriot and John Watson...hey, aren't the Americans supposed to have three commentators and the British two? Whatever, let's go to the actual racing:

Both Skodas got off pretty well, as Barrichello passed Frentzen to become seconds. But Rubinho has trouble following his teammate from Cyprus, who manages to build up a lead of three seconds over Barrichello in the first couple of rounds. Frentzen tries his best to chase the two Skoda, but he is chased himself by a group consisting of both Garry Rogers cars, as well as Michael Schumacher and Frentzen's teammate, Bertrand Gachot. Isn't that ironic, Gachot chasing the man he indirectly helped to lauch his Formula One career. But the first retirements come quickly. In lap 5, one of Chanoch Nissany's wheels gets loose, which causes his retirement. And only a few laps later, his teammate Francois Duval retires as well, because of a transmission problem. What a disastrous weekend for Métro léger de Charleroi, who were running a decent race until that point.
More transmission problems arise for Alain Prost, the third retirement of this race. We still haven't passed ten laps by this point, as the total distance is 75 laps. After we pass ten laps, the leaders are already starting to lap the backmarkers. This brings Rubens Barrichello closer to Tsingiridis, as he is only 1.1 seconds behind him. But in laps 15/16, disaster strikes for the Skoda Team Cyprus:
In lap 15, Barrichello tells his pit crew over the radio that he's losing oil. As he finishes his team radio, fire starts coming out of his Skoda-VW. Suddenly, the cameras go to turn three, as yellow flags are waved. The reason for this is Barrichello's team, Constantinos Tsingiridis, who has crashed his Skoda there. Tsingiridis' team is ab-so-lute-ly FURIOS, as he throws away a secure victory. The new leader is Heinz-Harald Frentzen, who now proceeds to build his lead to more than 40 seconds. He doesn't give away his lead until the end, making him the winner of the first ever SRL race. The race would have been a bit more exciting, if Michael Schumacher hadn't that tangle with Andrea Montermini at turn 3, which cost him some 30 seconds. He rejoins the field at 10th place, and eventually makes it back to third place. Second place goes to the other Euromotor driver, Bertrand Gachot, which no doubt pleases their boss. The Euromotor duo of Heinz-Harald Frentzen and Bertrand Gachot started with the right foot the Street Racing League by conquering a one-two at first hound held in the Indy circuit of São Paulo (Brazil). The German won the race while Gachot overcame the multi world champion of Formula One, Michael Schumacher, for the second place.

"Very nice to kick off the SRL by winning at Brazil. The track is surely one of the most challenging at the calendar and I did a great job here today. This weekend was everything what I wanted. I hope to keep my car and the team in the top of the lists in the next rounds", said a very enthusiastic Frentzen after race.

Gachot, which returns to racing after years selling energy drinks, was more than pleased by his Brazilian feat. "It was long time since I drove a single-seater for real. And it was good, felt like good times. The steering is still hard to get it all again, but beating Schumacher is a good sign. I am pleased Euromotor got the two best places in podium but I came here for more", commented.

"I knew that the team was about to make some noise at the test sessions. I am very pleased to what we did here today, but we want more. We aim to get great results at the American rounds, not only keeping the team on the track, but keep it at the top positions. The victory brought us confidence on aiming better and better", said the owner of the team, former F1 driver Piercarlo Ghinzani.

Michael Schumacher storms into the RT Solvalou box in search for Andrea Montermini...

Leave me alone, I need to kick the lights out of that Italian spaghetti. He tried to kill me!

Juan Pablo Montoya wrote:I'm very disappointed that I couldn't race. There were lots of Colombian fans who came to watch this event. I made a crucial mistake on my first qualifying lap, then on second lap I got stuck in traffic, while on third lap there were yellow flags. But I will be looking forwards for the later races where a possible lack of power isn't influencing that much.
