Captain Hammer wrote:The only way I can see it possibly woring is if Hamilton runs the softer option tyre in his first stint to get them out of the way with. But since his rivals set just about every single fast lap on the harder primes, he's still going to be wide open. If I'm right, KERS won't offer any advantage at all; it will only equilise his times. And he'll be forced to use it in bursts coming out of slower corners rather than going for a hard burn out of the Parabolica before he gets to the line and then laying into it as soon as he's crossed it (which will leave him at his most vunlderable for almost two laps: the lap before he goes for hard burn and the lap that he finishes using it). To make his problems worse, I believe the kerbs have actually been lowered after the qualifying session when cars were being launched into the air for touching them. And the Brawns ride the kerbs far better than the McLarens.

Hamilton is going to put on a Schumacher-esque performance to pull this one. Not sure he can make it, but I'm not sure the rest of the field can pull a one-stopper without cooking the rubber. I suppose it'll come down to tyres, which is a bit exciting.

As for the kerbs, the McLaren were riding them just fine, and the BBC team mentioned they were doing it better then the Brawns. Why did you say the contrary?

In a sense, CarlosFerreira is right that LH will pull a Schumacher, as long as Kovy morphs into Eddie Irvine and slows down everyone behind him.

Hamilton, Rosberg or Liuzzi's gearbox gets my vote.

That's what I said and I stick with it, since Liuzzi was consistently better than Fisichella throughout the race. Don't change teams in mid-season!

Red Bull: they were nowhere all weekend, and can say goodbye to any chance in winning a championship.

Red Bull should get something for basically wiping out any chance their drivers had left.

But...

My ROTR has got to be Hamilton. Podium secure, no chance of catching Button, no pressure from behind, and he bins it and has to take the walk of shame down the escape road between the two Lesmos.

Gee, Trulli's rallycrossing and Barrichello's antics with the camera (patting on the head, kissing with his helmet on, shooting an arrow) are making lame efforts at claiming ROTR ...

ROTR: Raikkonen & KERS for denying Sutil a place in the podium.

And I am starting to believe it is possible!

Mark Webber. Championship chances? What championship chances? Yeah Red Bull as a whole is probably a better choice but I prefer too single out individuals.

Wasn't really his fault though. Kubica moreso.

From the race, my ideas on rejects:

Rosberg/Grosjean - totally anonymous races, and both pretty much annihiliated by their team mates - doubly embarrsing for Rosberg, as he got beaten by Nakajima, and it turned out he didn't have a puncture

Toyota - that little race of theirs, while hilarious, was very reject worthy imo

Both McLaren drivers - Hamilton, for that crash - shades of Monaco qualifying? And Heikki, for turning the best strategy of the top ten, into a 6th place finish, and not being anywhere close to Lewis

KERS - once again, helped Kimi keep a faster car behind him

Both Red Bull teams - very anonymous, but probably not deserving of rejectness

Sutil - Now he can no longer have the honour of having a F1 rejects page! (Also, he lost out on a podium due to his own error, but **** happens)

I'm saying Red Bull. Where were they? Not a championship contending showing.

True, but I'm not a fair person :D . Besides my nomination was more to do with the death of his championship hopes rather then anything he done wrong (maybe it'd be better to say my reject is Mark Webbers Championship Tilt)

I could nominate a million things in that race, my but my votes go to:
Lewis Hamilton for obvious reasons.
Heikki Kovalainen for ruining the best strategy in the field by being plain slow.
Red Bull for being in no mans land all race.

Has to be Kovalainen, I think - so much talk about him before the race, being talked up as a potential winner, and he simply disappeared.

No incidents, he was just unbelieveably slow.

Red Bull, and Liuzzi's Gearbox, for denying us a double un-rejectifying race!

Toyota can't get it. That was quality TV watching them fight out for half a lap. I say Kovalainen deserves it for being the guy best placed to win and messing it all up.

Lewis Hamilton. Why on earth was he pushing so hard? He may have been close to Button but he wasn't all over the back of him, and anyway, he'd already passed the two main overtaking opportunities of the lap, the Rettifilo an Roggia chicanes. What on Earth was he thinking?

Lewis Hamilton

Throws away a garunteed podium with half a lap to go. Does anything more need to be said?

Liuzzi's Gearbox

First double points finish for Force India thrown away rather pointlessly. He was consistently in the top eight on pace alone and could have un-rejectified himself.

The Red Bull 'Family'

Webber out on the first lap, Vettel dol-drumming around to finish barely in the points, Alguersuari having to start from the pitlane and then retiring and Buemi being anonymous.

Toyota

Brilliant manoeuvre by team mates there to nearly take each other out. At least it was exciting, if rather boneheaded.

This isn't a nomination, but wasn't Sutil's second stop wierd?

He almost mows down the entire pit-crew and they still manage to get the stop done quickly. My favourite bit was the right-front wheel man. When he turned the spinner into the right place, he must have thought that he made the car set off!

I'd give it to Kovalainen, people were predicting him for the win yesterday, and he just threw it away like that. Otherwise, there wasn't anything majorly reject-worthy, I thoroughly enjoyed this race.

Agreed. Nobody did somehting really stupid (well LewHam did but it wasn't unexpected. You kind of expect him to fight till the end)
The race was a bit boring.

I nominate the Toyota engine, for a change.

But my chosen one has to be Kovalainen. When Hamilton joined the track after his pit stop, he was still in front of Kovalainen. EPIC FAIL from the guy who had the car and the strategy to win. And it's the second EPIC FAIL in a row for Heikki at Monza, actually.

Because the Williams and the Toyotas have been at the back of the top speed standings for the whole weekend?

It was clearly the worst engine out there.

Didn't see the speed statistics, that is bad.

Kovalainen, for demonstrating surely beyond doubt that he hasn't got what it takes to compete consistently at the sharp end of F1

I'm giving it to McLaren as a whole. Kovalainen was horribly slow at the start, Hamilton put on a strategy that IMO nobody could've ever pulled off successfully with Barichello and Button's Brawns in the field, and to top it off, Hamilton binning it on the last lap. Kudos to him for pushing it all the way, but he really should've known that he wasn't going to make a full second on Button in one lap unless there was a mistake on Button's part.

My nominees are:

-Liuzzi's gearbox (as mentioned previously by fellow board members)

-Robert Kubica for sending Mark Webber and his championship hopes into the gravel during lap 1, scoring in the nosecone championship once again (does getting black-orange-flagged for it give you an additional points score in nosecones?) - not to mention wasting an engine in qualifying - and then it was all for nothing a/k/a early retirement

-Jarno Trulli for that slightly overambitious move on Nakajima that had him nearly take out his teammate - only to almost end up in the gravel 1/2 a lap later

Lewis Hamilton: Gave up six points for a ridiculous last-lap chase for second.

Heikki Kovalainen: Despite a fuel-adjusted pole position, absolutely gave up when it came to the race.

wait, what? from what I could see, it was Nakajima that locked his wheel going into the chicane, then swerved in front of Trulli.
