It doesn't. If you've got your pattern recognition cracked, it should be possible to put in the first 256 tile in under two minutes. And I've just beaten it again, with a score of 20,424 and a time of 19 minutes and 9 seconds.

Does anyone want to fill in the reject car hierarchy, or should it be kept secret until each tile is revealed for each player?

I got as far as Life.

I'm guessing Life is after the Coloni?

i got to 14756 without any pattern recognition (because i'm actually quite bad at such things) so there's hope for the many of you ;)

Using similar tactics,.... 4692. As has been said before, serious addictive. I was planning to go to bed at least an hour ago. :? Only saw the Coloni for the first time this evening, and only saw the AGS once before that, with even the MasterCard Lola being rare.

I'm certainly struggling with the reject cars. My best there may be a 6608, but with the numbers, I'm easily in the 10000 range. Don't quite get what I am always doing wrong with the cars.

The AGS is the 256 tile - the two-minute marvel. And the Lola? One minute. I'm telling you, crack the tactics and they'll drop in that fast.

In fact, I might move onto time trials - see how fast I can get an AGS on the board. Here goes...

...one minute, 58 seconds.

That didn't hold long. It's now a 3652

looks like that 'high' score was really a lucky one, as i usually get easy to the Coloni-phase, but not past it anymore.

So I may as well publish the entire hierarchy.

2: Super Aguri SA06 - Takuma Sato, 2006
4: HRT F111 - Vitantonio Liuzzi, 2011
8: Osella FA1L - Nicola Larini, 1988
16: Pacific PR02 - Jean-Denis Délétraz, 1995
32: Simtek S941 - Taki Inoue, 1994
64: Forti FG01 - Pedro Diniz, 1995
128: Lola T97/30 - Ricardo Rosset, 1997
256: AGS JH25 - Yannick Dalmas, 1990
512: Coloni C4 - Pedro Chaves, 1991
1024: Life L190 - Bruno Giacomelli, 1990
2048: Andrea Moda S921 - Perry McCarthy, 1992

The "odd one out", if you like, was the Osella, given that this is not technically a reject team by places gained, only by points (I suspect that debate still rages). Originally I was going to have a Minardi in there (probably 1989-90) but remembered the spectacularly prophetically-named FA1L and couldn't possible leave it out. Also, the Simtek and Pacific were originally in the opposite order, with a picture of Domenicao Schiattarella in a 1995 Simtek, until I realised what numbers they'd been running. Featuring a picture of the Forti with its obvious missing airbox was entirely deliberate. And it's also no coincidence that, apart from the Super Aguri and HRT, all the cars are from a ten-year period of glorious rejectdom.

I played the original version too for once, and although a 2 appeared in the upper right corner (I played for that spot), I still completed it, with a 21520 score:

Damn! I had such a good flow and almost managed to produce a second Life, but before I could do so, I was forced to use the Up-key, which is the dumbest thing to do in this game.

Oh well, actual score of 14340 (and one Life) for me... :)

And here is another lucky winner! :D :D :D

Say, dinizintheoven, is it also possible to edit the phrase "You're winner" into the game? Somehow I was expecting it so say that line after I've beaten it (because it's about reject cars). ;)

P.S.: Sorry I used the formularejects uploader for this, but since I'm not using any other imagehoster at the moment, I thought I could make a rare exception. (And it's rejects-related somehow...)

Doesn't look like it - what I found is I could edit the pictures, the title and the background/text colours, but nothing else. And as the game creator is very basic, it can't be edited once it's finished, hence the "5" in the URL - I had previous attempts that weren't exactly spectacular, i.e. I hit the enter key at the wrong time (which finalises the game), or I used pictures that were too large. Worse still, the largest pictures are for the most modern cars which make up the 2 and 4 tiles, so the game ran at the pace of a misfiring Life driven by Chris Moyles. Eventually I decided to download all the pictures, hack them into squares, host them on my own server, and finally came the result!

The original Formula 1 Edition used the logos of the current teams in the order they finished last year, so Caterham are the 2 tile, Marussia are 4, Williams are 8, and so on. I decided not to go on with a game that handed victory on a plate to Red Bull when our favourite rejects were so much more deserving.

What's this? An extra game featuring the same pictures?

http://games.usvsth3m.com/giftris/formula-one-rejects-edition-5/

I managed 27 lines on the first attempt - the controls aren't particularly responsive, but I find it does help to know which car corresponds to which Tetris piece. Seeing as there are only seven, there will be no Andrea Moda, Life, Coloni or AGS in this game, but the rest are all present and correct. And the pictures rotate with the piece, so you can turn a Forti on its side the way Luca Badoer did, or make a startling impression of Gutiérrez Gutiérrez and turn it right over.

Ah, good old Tetris. Still fun and addicting after all these years! :D

Managed 55 lines twice before I had to force myself to go to sleep at 3 in the morning. What I like best about this version (besides the reject cars) is the fact, that the pieces keep dropping at a constant pace, while in the original Tetris they dropped faster the more you advanced in the game. Without this, you can go straight for highscores. I like that!

I usually get around 100 lines in normal Tetris, but I'm lucky to get forty here....

I still don't understand the 'pattern recognition' thing, but this shows that with a little bit of luck, you can finish the game without that. Being focussed, however, is important.

but i'm kind of crappy with the tetris game :?
