Thank you. I've received a great deal of support, both from my family (well, mom mostly), from professionals and finally all-important peer support on Discord from the other members here who are going through the same thing. If you scroll up this topic, you will find their own, similar announcements from the past.

You're right. It appears that several have gone through this.

Our group has indeed grown a bit larger, but if it's any comfort to those who are worried about us, we get along well with each other and find much emotional support with each other.

I do find it somewhat ironic that a thread I made more than six years ago has turned into the place that GPR members whose proverbial eggs have cracked go to announce so since in the years I have been absent from the forum, I too have begun a similar journey after realising I am a woman early last year, though for reasons to do with the current global situation amongst other things, progress on that matter has been sluggish, but I'll get there in time.

Is anybody watching the Great Pottery Throw Down on C4 in the UK? For some of you it might be of interest that the kiln technician on the show this series is transgender: https://www.pinknews.co.uk/2021/01/11/r ... channel-4/

It is a great show. Wish I was that skilled at pottery. It's something that both my grandpa and one of my uncles enjoy(ed) dabbling in.

And as an update to my last post, my mum died yesterday at 1:30 am (Friday 12th).

Indeed. I think I posted back then about it getting better, which over a distance it perhaps does but the graph is definitely not in a straight line. Not at all.

I think I achieved some sort of plateau a few years later only for my brother to suddenly die at only 58, proving that life certainly knows how to stick it in then break it off.

What can you do? Keep going, each day is an opportunity to be the best person you can be. I don't always achieve that but it's the trying that counts.

I'm glad people dealing with gender transitioning are finding so much support in the community here! One of my kids is doing this as well. We're being totally supportive, but it's still a struggle (not least because of the healthcare system in the US which makes everything harder and more expensive than it needs to be).

Best wishes everyone!

There are some people on here with Aspergers/on the autism spectrum. I wonder if they too find the support that helps here?

This community has been awesome in that respect. Give your kid all the love from you they need, it's a hard world out there.

Theres a quite high amount of neurodivergent people out here, with autism and adhd spectrums the most common. Personally i find it reassuring that theres plenty like me.
Though i'd prefer you didn't use the word Asperger, if you google who Dr. Asperger was, you'll understand why...

I have previously Googled him and I know what you are referring to. It was previously used by another forum member on this thread and is an historical diagnostic term. I will however avoid the term going forward, as that diagnostic term has now been absorbed into the Autism label.

The Manx TT is currently taking place, an event which Murray Walker believed was the best motorsport event in the world, better than the Indy 500 or Monaco Grand Prix.

Psychological support is now being offered to riders and marshalls as required, and it is being hoped that seeking Psychological support where needed will become as normal as getting physiotherapy.

I've discovered a kind of sport during lockdown that I have tried to use to ween myself off of my habit of watching motor sports because I can't stand athletes dying in it, having witnessed that harrowing downside of the sport 3 times on live TV in roughly 30 years of following the sport as a spectator.

Marble sports are totally safe because the athletes you cheer for are all marbles. Please take a look at the series Marbula One and a one-off season of Marbula E, too. https://www.youtube.com/@JellesMarbleRu ... ry=marbula

I remember spending a lot of time watching this a few years back. Maybe I should get back into this? I mean it is Olympic season and I don’t give enough of a toss about that to watch the real ones sooooooo… it could happen

I have just been watching the qualifying heats of the Men's Keirin cycling event in the 2024 Paris Olympics and one of the Japanese riders is named SHINJI NAKANO!

Hey everyone, you’ve probably been wondering where I’ve been recently, Well I had a job go wrong which didn’t train me properly and kicked me out when I couldn’t cope, it broke me mentally and I spiraled into depression and self harm. So I decided to take a break from the forum while I recovered through mental therapy and now I feel I’m at a level where I can come back. It’s been a really fun season since the first 5 races indicated another Verstappen walkover hasn’t it?

Welcome back and best of luck going forward. Yes, this season is a good one! Yesterday's race was yet another example.

I'm glad you liked that Marble Sports were brought up earlier in the thread. Currently, it's about half-time in the ongoing Marbula One Season Five. And who is that cat leading the points standings right now? ;-)
