Re: Your Top 10 Drivers
I did remain serious in my decisions.
With regards to Alsonso's bastardry i refer you to the Autosport 2007 F1 season preview:
"Fernando Alonso, Spain
Greatest F1 Moment: Joining McLaren for 2007
Worst F1 Moment: I dont have one"
And also i dont think his decision at Hungary for Q3 to stay in the pit-box, while Hamilton was stuck behind him waiting to get his tyres changed, was very professional, or rather grown up.
Not only that but his involvment in the Piquet Jnr Saga is more than he suggests, also the points he earned in the races that followed should not have counted because the team were motivated from the non-victory in Singapore, he is now at Ferrari, a team he has not earned the right to drive for as far as his last two seasons are to go by.
If Ferrari win something in 2009 it better bloody had be Felipe Massa this time around.

He had to eat a lot of shite during his career, especially during his time in McLaren, thanks to that people in Spain call one of the best teams in F1 history McLata (McCan) and McAco (McApe), and he barely complained about that and he carried on with great professionalism. And this not biased at all, it's what I think it's a fact. He never did any particular bastard thing in his career.
He went up against Hamilton. If you look at adx's top 10, I think you can see where his allegiances lie. He became an 'enemy to Britain' for no particular reason.
I won't say it was Hamilton's fault-he just got flattered seeing how things were going so good for him. It was Ron Dennis who got the ball rolling favouring Hamilton despite being Alonso the experienced driver, and the reigning champion. But he didn't become an enemy for Brits. In fact, he kept his head far from things as far as he could.

Alonso had an utter shitbox for car and the Singapore affair was down to Briatore, not to him. And if he went to Renault it was because McLaren became a hostile place for him thanks to Ron Dennis, otherwise he would have stayed with McLaren. And his victory in Japan in 2008 was fully deserved.
And, for instance, Raikkonen had a pale season in 2006 but then he was signed by Ferrari and won the title. So, Alonso did more than enough merits to achieve the seat considering the machinery he had. This is F1 Rejects and we judge the drivers considering the cars they had to drive.

Re: Your Top 10 Drivers
Its understandable how people can think Alonso had a hard time when Hamilton was trained by the team since he had the cheek got go up to Dennis as a ZIP-Cadet in 1996 and say "I'm going to be your next world champion".
Is it fair to say Alonso didn't know what he was getting himeself into? (or should have known?)
If not I'll agree to disagree.

Well, certainly Hamilton was great on his very first year, but still he had the mind of a rookie due to his lack of experience. Dennis's downfall was to trust so dearly in him instead of letting him get acquainted to it while following Alonso's lead to then take full fight to him next year. Everyone would have won (especially McLaren who had the best car by yonks). Worst of it is, here in Spain people began thinking Hamilton was an arsehole unfairly, as the lot of the fault was of Dennis's deficient management, deriving, in the worst cases, in racist comments.
And I don't think Alonso could have predicted it; who would?

Spain isnt the only country, there are loads of people here who think Hamilton is an arse.
People who think he shouldn't move out of britain to avoid tax, when even the great Jackie Stewart did the same thing.

4. Alain Prost
5. Michael Schumacher
6. Stirling Moss
7. Jack Brabham
8. Jackie Stewart
9. Gilles Villeneuve
10. Alberto Ascari
Have only considered World Championship drivers, hence Nuvolari not included. Peterson and Alonso came close to sneaking in. Others also, who despite their undoubted greatness in championship-winning years, also delivered some uninspiring seasons which casts doubt on their genuine ability and consistency. In that regard I'm thinking of: Lauda in his early March days, the Brabham years and some of the McLaren years; Mansell pre-1986; Piquet post-1986; Hakkinen pre-1997. Both the British Hills were very-good-but-not-great drivers in my books. Too early to tell where Hamilton will fit in overall.

Shinji, I already saved you all more time than that by not bothering to put spaces in my name and by not capitalizing any letters in it.

8 Stewart
9 J Brabham
10 G Villeneuve

My personal favourite drivers (so not THE best, but the ones closest to my heart)
1. Nigel Mansell
2. Ayrton Senna
3. Damon Hill
4. Jenson Button (been a fan since his very first race)
5. Lewis Hamilton
6. David Coulthard (never really warmed to him as a kid, but now I like him more and more... very underrated driver)
7. Graham Hill
8. Jimmy Clark
9. Sir Jackie Stewart
10. Stirling Moss
Very British bias I'm afraid!! But I do have other drivers I've always rooted for: Nico Rosberg, Luca Badoer (of course), Michael Schumacher (once I matured and came to forget (not forgive) the Adelaide incident.. Schumi only truly won 6 champs to me), Rubens Barrichello, Takuma Sato (that pass on Alonso one of my all-time fave F1 moments!), Jacky Ickx (big respect for multi-taskers like him), Niki Lauda

2. Juan Manuel Fangio
3. Michael Schumacher
4. Jim Clark
5. Alain Prost
6. Jackie Stewart
