That was a fairly boring race, really. The beginning was marred by some amateurish driving (Juicy Jousse, I'm looking at you, refusing to pit and blowing up your engine, then subsequently throwing a fit over it) and an accident that took out Wallace Jr, who was the driver I was rooting for. The rest was single file monotony.

One thing's for sure. The commentators will be saying "Danica" a lot tomorrow. I hope she DNFs so I don't have to hear the media circus as much.

After Mrs Patrick's pole position at the Daytona 500 makes it look like IndyCar drivers can succeed in NASCAR after all, at least as far as oval specialists are concerned. She certainly has learnt from the mistakes of those transition drivers who went there before her, and that includes her boss Tony Stewart and Dario Franchitti. Good luck for the race.

I thought Tony Stewart already proved that? Or does he not really count, since he only competed in IndyCar when it was racing like twice a year?

I think we all know that NASCAR just didn't tighten the screws for the restrictor plate as much as they did for the others, just to make global headlines.

Except for the abnormalities with Bobby Gerhardt's car at the end allowing the likes of John Less Talented to win. As in Gerhardt having car with superior fuel mileage run out of gas.

I was one of Danica's biggest haters, but if she wins, I'll eat crow as she'll finally have a legit win (I'm sorry but winning against less than 20 cars at the Twin Ring when 2 people in front of you run out of gas isn't legit, it just isn't) but I still won't like her. The AP ran a story today with the headline "Danica: Now I can Be Myself" What does that even mean? Were you fake before? Why does one pole change that? Please Danica just keep your head down and let you driving do the talking. For what its worth, ESPN ran a poll asking where she would finish. 59% said 20th or below, while only 7% thought's she'd win. Regardless though, Tony Stewart is the MAN right now. 3 cars in the top 5 all with realistic shots at winning, and the biggest media frenzy since Senior died. Way to go Smoke!

She's not Milka Duno, by a long shot, but really she's an average driver who is made out to be one of the Franchittis, Powers, Kesolowskis, and Johnsons of the American racing scene because she's a woman.

Kyle Busch and Mr. Delana Harvick take the 2 duels setting the field. Gotta feel bad for Mark Marti and Carl Edwards, both have torn up 4 cars each. If practice and testing are anything to go by, I'm putting the over under of Finishers at 20. Any takers?

Tony Stewart did it when it was all ovals all the time as did Casey Mears to significantly less success and fanfare in both series.

And Danica is outta the Nationwide race with some engine issues it looks like. I'm okay with this.

BAD Wreck on the last lap. An engine and a tire amongst other things flew into the stands. Several fans hurt.......

All rumor at this point but Jayski is reporting several strechers in the stands and the sound of sirens. First 20 rows of seats got nailed.....

Worst wreck since Geoff Bodine in the Daytona catch fence around that spot in the trioval about 13 years ago. Just glad to see Kyle Larson jump out of that car right afterwards as I haven't seen many crashes where the car was destroyed to the firewall. I heard that there is a fan in surgery with head trauma, but I kind of knew that was possible knowing that Larson's car was destroyed to the firewall.

The latest reports from Autosport make for grim reading - according to them, two fans are in a critical condition and 28 were injured altogether (of which 14 required hospital treatment). At least we can be thankful that it wasn't worse...

Dear god, Speed is leading the race with just over 20 to go. Now, is he gonna get burnt by the caution or not? My knowledge of how Oval Racing works is pretty limited at best.

i don't know speed well enough to tell whether he'll crack under JPM's pressure from behind. all i want from this race is a Ford to win.
Ford are clearly the underdog here, regardless of Toyota's apparent engine issues.
Speed's in the pits as i type this, Keslowski and some other stricken Fords are near the front with Ambrose's clean RPM Ford just behind.

Seriously, this was one of these "classic" NASCAR finishes? How anticlimatic.

As 5TIME5TIME5TIME5TIME5TIME wins it. It was an allright race, haven't seen that drafting style in nascar in at least a decade. As 5Time busts up his splitter celebrating.

It seems like the drivers are all too paranoid to make a move prior to the final lap. And they all know by now you can't do that and expect to win, so I don't understand why they all aren't acting earlier.

And Logano really lost there. Restarted 7th, finished 19th, all because he started on the inside. He was making moves all over the place, too, so you can't blame him for not trying.

They need a smaller spoiler as to make the cars more unstable and make them unable to even stay in a line which goes 20 cars in a line.
