Row 6-7 is average, but given it is a high speed circuit, it's not bad... well, until the engines explode at least.

Okay that's it, Durand is just too slow. He's even more slow than Megumi was. So if Durand doesn't score points, he'll be replaced by our test driver.

Positives:
James James Davies: He's unstoppable! What can anyone do to slow James James Davies down? Davies was almost flawless today, leading every lap of the race and winning by a huge margin. Tom Douglas' errors leave Davies in a commanding championship position. His only scare was late in the race when Miko Fakkinen retired and Davies spun off while swerving to avoid the slowing Sauber. He recovered and still won by over half a minute.

Kazuhiko Takagi: Takagi has bounced back after a brief, midseason rough patch with another stellar podium. Ferrari is slowly losing ground in the Constructors' Championship, but it could have been worse after Douglas' disappointing race. Takagi was taken out by John Zimmer at the start, but he was able to make his way back through the field in one of his best drives of the year.

Jordan: Big double points finish for Jordan, who have struggled all season with getting both drivers to perform on the same day.

Niko Nurminen: The DAMS didn't blow up on him today, and he drove towards another near-miss seventh place. Nurminen was battling in the midfield for the entire race and looked very strong.

Stewart: This was Stewart's first great race of the season, with both drivers mixing it in with the midfield for the whole race. Alvarez was running in sixth for a while until he pulled off with a transmission problem. Although Alvarez was definitely superior on the day, Alden did manage to finish eighth despite a spin. Promising stuff.

Lawrence Tucker: That's a big 13th place for Volga.

Negatives:
Tom Douglas: Tom Douglas was all over the circuit today. A spin in the first five laps, a spin later in the race and an emergency pitstop for a throttle problem left Douglas with a ton of ground to make up. He still finished third, but his chaotic day will certainly prove costly.

Rory McAllister: McAllister was beaten by Takagi, Douglas and his teammate. Not good, especially when two of them were coming back after several spins. McAllister threw the car off the road with three laps to go, which contributed to his poor showing.

Andrew Spokes: Spokes made a huge mistake and crashed out while running in third place. Williams needs points and Spokes just threw them away.

Frederic-Maxime Voeckler: Williams has to be wondering if Voeckler is that much better than Daniel Moreno. Voeckler broke another front wing today and lost out to Niko Nurminen on merit.

Ron Mignolet: Ron Mignolet was very disappointing, ending up with a couple broken front wings and a general incompetence penalty.

Masta Valsattis: Two spins and a crash out.

John Zimmer: Three spins and two penalty points. Benetton gets Reject of the Race.

Just create a driver, and make him available to teams. Sometimes, a team might need a driver at short notice as a replacement. :)

Review:
Hungary was fairly dull, as usual, but high attrition gave us some different points scorers for once.

Positives:
James James Davies: Bad news for Tom Douglas and Ferrari. JJDWINSLOL is not slowing down at all. Another clinical performance from Davies puts him x points clear of Douglas in the Drivers' Championship. McLaren also looks to have the Constructors' Championship on lockdown.

Tom Douglas: Second place is a positive, I suppose, but you get the feeling that Douglas has given up on his fight for the title already.

Niko Nurminen: A fine drive to points for Nurminen and DAMS, who have established themselves as the best-of-the-rest team behind the top 5 teams who normally hog all the points.

Pablo da Silva: It's been a tough year points-wise for Pablo da Silva but he continues to be a solid driver for the Sauber team.

Yuuri Jougaseki: Eighth place for Volga! That's incredible!

Gio van Dycke: van Dycke was very competitive in his second race for Prost, running in the high midfield for most of the race and outdriving Mignolet. Unfortunately, his car failed him before he could snag a sixth place finish.

Negatives:
Jordan and Benetton: A pair of double-DNFs does not bode well for these two teams as they continue to battle in the Constructors' Championship. Williams may start to creep up on them if they aren't careful.

Frederic-Maxime Voeckler: An idiotic first lap collision with Scrattenheim at the start (both at fault, IMO, but Scrattenheim got away) halted Voeckler's race before it even got going. It's been a rough Williams debut for Voeckler, and Williams may soon start looking at other options if he doesn't improve.

Miko Fakkinen: Miko Fakkinen was completely destroyed by da Silva in quail and he has not looked comfortable at Sauber for the whole season. Another disappointing retirement after a disappointing 1/5 of a race earns Fakkinen Reject of the Race.

Great job, now we're close to finish 6th in the WDC... and as it was planned:
DAMS to use Supertec engines from '99, due to mutual agreement between PSA and DAMS - Peugeot cannot supply two teams with more mechanical failures. This would help Prost and us as well.

In a public statement before qualifying to the Belgian Grand Prix, Leonhard von Gottorp confirmed the rumours that he was looking for a buyer for the Jordan F1RGP2C franchise. "While the last five seasons have been great for the team, I think the time has come for both me and Jordan to move on. I would like to thank the staff and suppliers of our great enterprise and am confident that they can handle the future challenges," the German racing legend stated.

According to our inside sources there are a number of potential investors, surprisingly most from Southeast Asia, who look to acquire the team. According to von Gottorp, he is looking to announce the completed deal before the Italian Grand Prix. Leonhard von Gottorp has also said that this will be his final F1RGP2C event. Anton Kaliniczenko will take over the #10 Jordan for the 1998 Japanese Grand Prix and the 1998 Duel In The Desert with a potential 1999 drive on the line.

So yeah, I am leaving the series as a team and driver owner. I don't know if tristan1117 has a waiting list, I think he can sort this out better than I can and will surely be nice enough to drop by in the Alternate F1 Current Era thread asap? ;=)

I believe I put forward interest in taking over a team here publically a little while back when certain other teams were available, so i'd like to throw my hat in the ring once again...

L'Equipe wrote:French consortium to purchase Jordan Grand Prix?

With Leonhard von Gottorp announcing he was selling up the Jordan Grand Prix team, the F1RGP2C paddock has been buzzing with rumour as to who will purchase the team.

While bids from around the world have been reported, one particular group of investors from France are coming to the fore in the quest for a buyer. Voeckler Capitaux, which owns transport giant Alstom, current sponsor of fellow F1RGP2C team Gauthier, are the main face of a group of French investors looking to purchase the team at the end of the year.

The name Voeckler will be familiar to many who follow the sport - it is indeed the same family that has been present in the sport for a year now. Jeremy-Etienne Voeckler is already a member of the Jordan Grand Prix team, acting as both a tester and a senior advisor to the team, while younger brother Frederic-Maxime Voeckler is currently driving for Williams.

The lead figures' previous experience of the series and motorsport in general make them a top candidate for the Jordan takeover, however some critics are speculating it is merely a ploy to ensure Frederic-Maxime Voeckler stays in a midfield seat for next year should he lose his Williams drive.

Somehow, Gauthier is beating Prost in the Constructors' Championship. Will this be enough to get Nicchi a drive higher up in the midfield? Who knows.

James James Davies: Oh yeah, he clinched the title with his fifth win on the trot.

Ben Fleet: After a long absence from the points, Arrows and Ben Fleet returned in Belgium with a brilliant fourth place in the rain. Fleet will be glad to know that Arrows is now tied with DAMS in the Constructors' Championship.

Kazuhiko Takagi

Negatives:
Tom Douglas: Tom Douglas took the lead on Lap 27 after Davies spun off. But in a sad repeat of last season, Douglas crashed out a few laps later and handed the championship and the victory to James James Davies. A disastrous ending to an unfulfilling championship battle for Douglas.

Francisco Remedio: Remedio's promising F1RGP2C debut ended in the wall at Les Combes, ending a possible run at points for the Prost driver.

DAMS: Another engine failure hit Nurminen's car and Scrattenheim threw his car into the scenery. Reject of the Race for them.

Miko Fakkinen: A Lap 1 accident ended Fakkinen's day before it even started.

Overtaken by DAMS, Gauthier and bathplugging Arrows in the constructors standigs in two races time  This is going from bad to worse.
