"I've really enjoyed racing in Indycars" said Vergne, "and because my results in IFRC haven't been so good I thought I'd try and extend my stay in America. Nebula have let me pursue that, and I thank them for that".

Nebula are actively seeking a replacement to partner British ace Quentin Reatherson.

David Tenpecost (USA), the son of Ronald Tenpecost is interested with Nebula Grand Prix vacant seat. Having racing in Mazda Pro, it's time to move to a higher level series :)

Well it's mostly a spec series with only minor differences between the engines, and you've got the most powerful ones. So yeah, it's the drivers. :P

Although to be fair, Lamberigts was pushed into a spin in her heat and could've possibly finished a couple of positions higher, but still not on points.

Heavy shunt from Knittefeld! Hope he recovers OK

There seems to be a lot of cars going up in flames, does that normally happen in this series??

L'Equipe wrote:IFRC: Voeckler leaves Acura for pastures new

Benoit Voeckler's management today announced the Frenchman would be leaving Acura Racing Team's IFRC outfit, but will be back immediately for the next round with a new team.

After a string of results below expectations, Voeckler and Acura agreed to mutually terminate his contract with immediate effect, but only after he had already secured a pre-contract with a new team, ensuring he would not be left out in the cold for the rest of the year.

Instead, he will bring his large sponsorship packet with him to MRT, who have elected to release Joel Melrose and bring in Voeckler as his replacement. While the Australian squad is a top team in F1RWRS, it's IFRC arm is reputedly woefully underfunded, demonstrated by the revolving door of pay drivers occupying their second seat. Voeckler's deal however is said to be full-time, competing in every event until the end of the season.

"I thank Acura for all their efforts this season, and while I wish things had gone smoother between us, we part ways on amicable terms," said Voeckler in a statement. "I am happy to have signed with MRT, a team with significant top level racing pedigree."

As the GT-R team he's driving for is also owned by me, his GT-R races will have priority, but all other dates, he will run for GTI. Bainomugisha can drive all races that Case is not available.

And as far as I knew, Case wasn't ever needed for Scuderia Belgio, so his JLD commitment takes priority.

Yeah, Case only drives at rounds 4, 6 and 10 for JLD, and only round 10 seriously clashes with IFRC (the GT-Rs are in Argentina while IFRC is in Russia). Round 6 collaborates with IFRC at Laguna Seca, but unlike certain other series managers I'm not fond of one driver taking part in two categories during the same weekend (see Ryan Knittefeld at Mexico, for example). So Justin Case will drive at rounds 5, 7-9, 10 and 12 while Bainomugisha drives at rounds 6 and 11.

Fine by me, it would be weird of Case did too many races in succession. I just forgot which contracts he had. That's the downside of allowing everyone to use your driver without your own permission. °facepalm°

But still, it's a good thing he actually has other things to do, that will just turn him into the most versatile driver ever!

The management of International Formula Reject Challenge have announced a change in the race calendar for the ongoing season. Reportedly, after already agreeing to host the 10th round of the championship, the Sochi circuit owners have suddenly withdrawn their support from the event. This threatened to cancel the IFRC Round of Russia - the penutimate championship event of the season - altogether, but the series' organisers quickly found an alternative some 1800 kms north from the originally planned location: the NRING Circuit near Nizhny Novgorod, also known simply as Nizhny Novgorod Ring. Built in 2010, the multi-layout circuit has mostly hosted local championships, with the IFRC being one of the first large-scale international events there.

"It is unfortunate that the Sochi organisers decided to pull the plug at such a short notice", said IFRC spokesman Jarno Toivonen. "However, we were lucky in that our safety car driver Nathan Nurmester was still in contact with his former RTCC team mate Nikolai Nurmovitsch, who directed us to the right people to talk about alternative options. It didn't take us long to reach an agreement between the circuit owners and sponsors. Nurmester was then sent to inspect the track and confirmed it fits our standards."

"Russia has been a growing market for motorsport for the past decade now, and we currently have two teams and one driver from there competing full-time so it is imperative that we hold some presence there."

Image

OOC: managed to patch the NRING Circuit well enough that it's good for use now, and it's a much better option than Sochi (which was a beta version anyway and lacked much of the environment due to lack of data).

John Zimmer today announced that he would be making a driver swap between his IFRC and F3RWRS teams that will see Emma Kickert move to the F3RWRS and Renato Bulku join the IFRC squad. Zimmer said the change was made because he felt that Kickert was not ready for the level of competition in the IFRC.
"While I didn't expect her to be competitive right off the bat, I though she'd at least show some more of her father's mechanical 'sympathy', if you can call it that. She hasn't so far, and that's costing us points."
Kickert is yet to finish a race this season, with every retirement the result of an early mechanical failure, with the exception of the heats at Penrith Speedway, which was a late mechanical failure. As a result, she has only qualified for one final, which she also failed to finish, while her teammate Silvia Renaldi has only missed one.
"This is clearly a series with non-existent reliability, and the questionable driving standards expected from the successor to RoLFS. As such, I'm sending Emma down to the F3RWRS for the remainder of the season to get some more experience, and since Renato raced in the RoLFS last season, we might as well move him back up.
