Re: Rejects Of Gran Turismo

Post by Priceless »

I am attempting this scenario with all aids, including ABS, set to 0 in the setup menu. I haven't had much trouble with oversteer so far, the Lancer is a good car and we're using racing tires; the main problem I'm having is with stability under braking. It'll take me a while to get a good lap in.

EDIT: I messed up here, ABS is actually on - there are three sliders for the driving aids in the setup menu, but none of them is for ABS - two of them are for ASM (oversteer and understeer) and one is for TCS. All sliders are set at 0. Also, without ABS the game would be near unplayable with a gamepad, since it'll be very hard not to lock the wheels on every corner. I also play F1 2011 on PC and in that game I set ABS to medium - on full there's absolutely no possibility of locking, and disabling it makes it extremely hard to control with a gamepad. On medium you can still lock wheels on some situations if you just slam the brakes, requiring a degree of control that's manageable with a gamepad.

We're allowed racing tyres? Damn, I totally missed that part

Looks like I will be able to easily improve on my current 1:36:XXX then.

Eh, what about my GT2 time? Didn't you get that either?! Man, the internal mail system for this sucks! Not surprising though, I remember a bunch of messages dinizintheoven sent me about F1RMGP never made it to my mailbox. Shall I try again?

Yes, please do - I have added my mail address to the post for scenario 3-4, maybe it works when you send me it directly. I haven't found anything else in either spam or normal e-mail inboxes so everyone who had it send in and is not on the result table will need to do so again or - should they be unable to do that - redo their scenario. I will give you time until Monday evening to do so and move the scenario 3-4 deadline to a few days later.

Klon, I found the email containing the laps so I sent it again. :)

Kostas, Diniz did receive my mail. His response to my latest email is:

Patience, Odindammit! I've had plenty else to do recently, plus I've had to purposely avoid all F1-related corners of the internet this entire weekend - not just F1 Rejects - until I've seen the recording of the Canadian GP, which will be tonight. You'll get your answers, soon enough...

Besides, not *everything* needs an answer, and not immediately... I'm keeping a lot of F1RMGP news under wraps so that there isn't a huge black hole between the last bit of Silly Season news and the start of the next season, which won't be until the end of September, by my calculation. I like to keep things ticking over steadily, as does a certain Mr Lindsay.

My upgraded CFD facilities are back online, after suffering from some problems which took longer than expected to solve. I'll record the videos from the last few rounds, which I have as saved replay data, and try to upload them this weekend.

Here's the video for 3-3.

On second note, I've already submitted my time for 3-4 (replay already saved, video coming soon), but I have one question...
The car I used comes fitted with Racing Medium tires, but since the "allowed tuning" states "Sports Tires", I went and fitted it with Sports Soft tires, which perform worse than the Racing Medium tires the car comes with, for this scenario. In this situation, is it OK to not purchase anything (hence apply no tuning) and run with the Racing Medium tires, or do we have to go with Sports tires?

You have to use sports tires in that case. Tires are hard tuning, i.e. only what I say goes - just like oil changes.

I think I was into the 1:15/14 range when I tried using my Cammaro LM. But I thought that using a actual race car would be too mainstream, so I used a NASCAR. It was farily easy though, since I've done some racing in a NASCAR in Comfort Softs around Monaco.

That's quite good. With that Ford GT I think at most I could go into the high 1'15 - low 1'16 but that's about it...

My best time in the Cammaro LM was a 1:15.8 before I my mainstream-senses began to tingle. :geek:
I probably could have gone faster with a proper setup on the Cammaro, and on the Impala. But the Impala has too much torque for it's own good in 1st, I had to take all corners in 2nd then downshift once on the straight. Proper fun though.

The issue here is how the sanctions will affect my participation in RoGT. The community sanction said that I can't send any emails related to any racing series. Yes, I participated in RoGT only part-time, but sending email as a proof of result is cumplosory here. :|
