I burnt the clutch out which meant I stalled at the start and Dave McFaste had absolutely no chance to spot me and ran straight into the back of my car. Dave was in the medical centre after the crash but he's alright which is a testament to the strength of these cars. Phillippe put in a good performance to finish 2nd but Jeroen was far too strong. Even though I believe I could have finished ahead of Phillippe I wouldn't have come anywhere near the Prost car ahead of us. That thing is an absolute rocketship but the Jordan team are working hard on a upgrade package to be introduced at the next round which should bring us on level pegging with Prost in the coming races.

I spent the rest of the race fighting Ed Kevin, but I made a mistake at Tamburello a few laps from the flag when attempting to pass him, having to drive across the gravel trap, losing any remaining chance of a podium. 9 points from 4 races is much better than the record from 1997, which was 4DNFs, but the Prosts and Jordans look unstoppable at the moment, so my chances of fighting for the title this year are declining rapidly.

Thankfully, I wasn't effected by reliability problems, but unfortunately, James was affected by some issues, gearbox I think. I've got to thank the team for giving me a fantastic car, which handled superbly in the conditions, and err, myself, for driving like a madman, as I promised!

Daniel Martins wrote:Going from 19th to 6th made it a great race for me. I felt at home in the rain and that was what made my recovery possible. I am happy to score another point. Nevertheless we cannot be satisfied with the car this weekend. This season is being a bit of a struggle. I know that Hagane wrote off this year, but we, back home, are working flat out in order to resolve these problems and prevent the same problems to move into the next year car. This is a learning year for me though and I expect to improve my input in the factory and help the guys to improve our current situation. Next race we expect to keeping struggling despite more updates coming into the car but I am sure to give the my best!

The upgrade package is working as expected which has certainly helped Phillippe get over his problems generating tyre temp with these new spec of tyres for this season.
