Damon Cannon wrote:That bloody idiot Roda ruined mine and several others lap times. I was on a better lap, which would have put me in 5th position, when I caught his Stewart trundling around the track, which completely ruined my lap as was weaving all over the place. He was almost 20 seconds off the pace!? How is he even allowed to start the race. Reminds me of the pathetic Life team from 8 years ago. 12th on the grid, slap bang in the middle of the pack. I know the car has potential here, so my aim is to avoid being taken out at Tamburello, and fight my way into the points.
Daniel Melrose wrote:To put it simply, go home Giovanni Roda! I was on an absolutely mega lap as I was up on the fastest time to the second sector by half a second mid-way through the session before Roda got in the way in the mobile chicane which cost me the best part of 2 seconds around Rivazza. 8th is nothing short of a disaster but the car felt good in race trim during practice so a podium is to be expected. And sorry if I seem rude but Roda is in a Stewart, NOT a Tyrrell Damon.
Daniel Martins wrote:For the last race in Argentina I felt the car was slightly better than in qualifying and that reflected on a good 3 places gained. With a bit more luck I think points could've been on the cards. For the San Marino qualifying what can I say? The car has been undrivable all weekend and not even with my team-mate set up the car improved. Since the season started we seem to be going backwards and not even the last upgrade solved the problems. Actually it may have got worst. We seem to be having a bit of trouble with the data from the wind tunnel. We've been spending all the available time interpreting data and trying to correct readings, so when the next update arrives we hope the car improves a bit. It is still early to write off this chassis completely but if things keep worsening it is a distinct possibility. Nevertheless I will go flat out in the race like I always do and I expect to go top 10 again this weekend.

Great to be back where we belong on the front row of the grid thankfully I go out just before the rain got worse and no one managed to beat my time other than
Ed but still I will be doing the Tifosi proud tomorrow and going for a victory for Ferrari at home.

Jeroen Krautmeir wrote:I just have to echo the frustration pointed against Giovanni. I don't know why or how he got the Stewart seat, but he's doing no better than when he was in a Lola. In fact, dare I say it, he's doing bathplugging worse! I think I was doing a lap which was something like a full second faster than Ed, when this idiot did a 'Deletraz' and swerved all over the place, so I braked hard, but instead aquaplaned into the grass. Unlike Philippe, I managed to keep the car going, but I had used up all my laps. It's terribly disappointing, and he can thank himself lucky that the team prevented me from giving him a blow on the face. All I can say is, I'll be driving like a madman tomorrow.

I expect to be destroyed by Phillippe off the line, but points are definitely on the cards. If Mori can try and pass without killing everyone on track.

The weather was terrible I could barely see I didn't want to go off the road so I held back while still trying to be as quick as I could. 5th was not what we were going for as a team I have to apologise to the Tifosi but in my opinion the race should have been stopped someone could have been killed today.
John Zimmer wrote:OK, maybe points weren't on offer. And Mori, if you think you're so brilliant and awesome, why couldn't you pass a freakin' Sauber? (No offence to Thomas, of course.)
Daniel Melrose wrote:Oh man, that was an absolutely almightly shunt off the start. I burnt the clutch out which meant I stalled at the start and Dave McFaste had absolutely no chance to spot me and ran straight into the back of my car. Dave was in the medical centre after the crash but he's alright which is a testament to the strength of these cars. Phillippe put in a good performance to finish 2nd but Jeroen was far too strong. Even though I believe I could have finished ahead of Phillippe I wouldn't have come anywhere near the Prost car ahead of us. That thing is an absolute rocketship but the Jordan team are working hard on a upgrade package to be introduced at the next round which should bring us on level pegging with Prost in the coming races.
Daniel Melrose wrote:And before I forget John you need to give your host employers' a call about work experience. No, seriously, you have to.
Damon Cannon wrote:Another solid race. I was lucky not to smash into Daniel's stricken Jordan at the start, and equally lucky not to collect Douglas's spun Williams at Tosa a few laps later, after that idiot Roda pushed him onto the grass. I spent the rest of the race fighting Ed Kevin, but I made a mistake at Tamburello a few laps from the flag when attempting to pass him, having to drive across the gravel trap, losing any remaining chance of a podium. 9 points from 4 races is much better than the record from 1997, which was 4DNFs, but the Prosts and Jordans look unstoppable at the moment, so my chances of fighting for the title this year are declining rapidly.
John Zimmer wrote:OK, maybe points weren't on offer. And Mori, if you think you're so brilliant and awesome, why couldn't you pass a freakin' Sauber? (No offence to Thomas, of course.)
Barii Mori wrote:Well you should know you blind idiot, first you slam the door shut on me as I try to overtake you for 3rd, so I get a broken front wing and you get a puncture and then you do it again, but this time you do not get a puncture.... I could have been in the podium rather then 4 laps down.
Jeroen Krautmeir wrote:I must say, and I don't mean to be arrogant or anything, but that has to be my best performance to date. I always like the rain, and I must say that I was delighted when I woke up to thunder and gray skies. Obviously, I didn't expect the drizzle to turn into a storm, but that just made me happier really! At the beginning, I lost 2 places to the Saubers of Pippa and Thomas, but I soon got Tommy at Traguardo and Pippa at Tosa. At Piratella I took James and Barii. At the Variante Alta, I passed Douglas and John. I nearly got past Padraig at Rivazza, but instead got my car on the gravel in an overly optimistic move. Douglas passed me, but I got him back at Traguardo, and then Padraig at Tosa. Ed had a small lead, but I managed to crush that after a few turns, and I got him at Variante Alta. After that, I just pushed the car to it's maximum. I wasn't really thinking about what might happen, I just went as fast as I could go. Thankfully, I wasn't effected by reliability problems, but unfortunately, James was affected by some issues, gearbox I think. I've got to thank the team for giving me a fantastic car, which handled superbly in the conditions, and err, myself, for driving like a madman, as I promised!
Philippe Nicolas wrote:I think I'm a very good driver when it rains, but Jeroen... Wow, that was fantastic from him! I don't think any chance I had of trying to catch him, so in the end I'm happy with the second place I get.

Nevertheless we cannot be satisfied with the car this weekend. This season is being a bit of a struggle. I know that Hagane wrote off this year, but we, back home, are working flat out in order to resolve these problems and prevent the same problems to move into the next year car. This is a learning year for me though and I expect to improve my input in the factory and help the guys to improve our current situation. Next race we expect to keeping struggling despite more updates coming into the car but I am sure to give the my best!

Daniel Melrose wrote:I certainly didn't expect that. Damon must have put in a stonking lap to put his Arrows on pole it what was literally the last minute of qualifying after being stuck in the mid-teens for the balance of the session. I don't know for sure but on observation it seems to me that the Arrows has an incredibly narrow operating window but is blindingly quick. Onto our performance and the car felt stable but there are a few more tenths that we're yet to extract from the car. The upgrade package is working as expected which has certainly helped Phillippe get over his problems generating tyre temp with these new spec of tyres for this season.
Daniel Martins wrote:It wasn't a bad qualification for me and the car feel better this weekend even in the fastest part of the circuit. These upgrades certainly improved our situation in the midfield battle. If we can keep up in the race and the car shows the race pace we are expecting I hope win some points at the end of the race. I also hope Hagane can recover in order to give Benetton a good weekend.
Damon Cannon wrote:I think Daniel hit the nail right on top of the head about the A19 this year. We tried all sorts of setups throughout the weekend, and either ended up with chronic understeer, a loose back end, or on one setup, a car suffering from both understeer and oversteer, that I was lucky not to have put into the wall, it was so undriveable. Throughout qualifying, I was stuck in 15th, with little promise of improvement, until the team added more downforce to the front wing. Suddenly, the car just started working properly, like the A18 last year, and with my final lap, I took my first pole of the year! I'm in no doubt that I'll have a massive fight on my hands between Daniel and Jeroen for the race tomorrow, but the car feels so good at the moment, I should be able to hang on.
I hear that next race I'll have a new team mate! Phoenix McAllister is joining after leaving Mclaren. I welcome him to the team, and hopefully his experience will propel the team upwards, for a tilt at both titles next season.
Padraig O Connell Wrote:
after the disappointment of Imola we are looking to do as best as we can here, We were hoping to test a new front and rear wing but unfortunately they weren't ready in time. I will be going for a win but so far this season we are having trouble being consistent over the race weekend but I haven't given up hope that we can pull of a win this season. I'd love it to be here or at the British GP as it is as close to my home race as I am going to get but I think the team would prefer it at Monza.
Phoenix McAllister wrote:It is with great joy that I receive the notice I'll be driving for Arrows at the next race. I was completely fed up with the treatment the team was dispensing me, which forced my premature departure from the team only a year after I joined them. I don't know why the team was being so nasty with me, but I had to do this difficult move before my reputation could be too damaged, since those contretemps were badly hampering my performances. I am very much looking forward to drive for them at the next race. Arrows is a very professional and experienced outfit and they were championship contenders last year. Since they were only a one-car team I decided it would be great to help them have a good stab at the Constructors Championship. I'll assist Damon Cannon as much as I can and try to score some good results to make of this a profitable partnership. I also want to thank Tom Walkinshaw for the faith he's deposited in me. He says he's happy to have me in the team and he believes I'm a blossoming talent and he'll do his best to give me a competitive ride.
Philippe Nicolas wrote:Well, certainly this upgrade package has worked very well for me, and I think I have also become used to the new tyres right now. Still have to improve a bit, but in the top 10 in the dry this year is quite a achievement for me! Hopefully in the race I can move up a bit and maybe score some points.
Ed Kevin wrote:I'd just like to defend McLaren, as no one else really can, Mr. McAllister appears to have had quite large issues with his treatment in the team - pity he only brought that up when both his team-mates were regularly beating him in equal machinery. So I'd just like to say I have never seen any mistreatment within the team, and I would be willing to bet that John hasn't either.
See you later Phoenix.
