I find it ridiculous that IndyCar should still put C/E/T in their results sheet when there is evidently only one combination...

Spot the ex F1 drivers.

I only see Beretta and Magnussen.

Oliver Gavin was first permanent safety car driver I believe. He took the job somewhere in mid-1997 (Spa was his first race where he actually drove SC during the race). He held this job until the end of 1999. Bernd Mayländer took over starting from 2000 and has held it since then.

There's a Müller in there that might be Jörg Müller, there's Bruno Junqueira who might have been a Formula 1 driver if the cards had fallen a different way, and did Jeroen Bleekemolen ever look like making the grade?

alms race today was pretty good for the shortest race of the year. and there are three overtaking corners. turn 1, 3, and 10.
the chicane after the final corner is because of the light rail tracks. remember san jose 2006?
oh, and Birdman got pole for the indycar race tomorrow in a dead heat with rahal.

Anders Krohn binned it in the Indy Lights race from the lead and gave the race to Gustavo Yacaman.

Willy T. parked it with 5 to go and basically said he wasn't fit enough.

Versus Commentators created a bit of confusion under one of the yellows regarding Briscoe, who drove like a tool all race.

Still, great race to watch! Where was all that "no passing" crap? Back before F1 had DRS? :P

There's an atricle on this issue in Autosport too. I actually think it would be a great idea - whilst its unlikely he would win, it would go somewa to creating a KV Fever Team, if he were joined by TK, Sato and Paul Tracy (maybe throw in Boris Said for good measure  )

So, with Hideki Mutoh in for Martin Plowman in the #17, Sebastian Saavedra out of the #34 car and de Oliviera in, who will replace Justin Wilson again in the #22 at Motegi? Could Pagenaud make another comeback, or will we be blessed with the return of our friend Roger Yasukawa? :!:

Just for completeness sake, the entry list says that The Great Pantano will be back in the #22 car for D&R. They surely must have enjoyed his services.

Liuzzi was practicing. He'll actually try it when he goes V8 racing later this year.

Why doesn't Michael andretti just kill off the suspense and tell us that Wheldon is gonna be driving gor him again next year? Micheal was at the Go Daddy challenge announcement, and Go Daddy have announced they will remain sponsorin the team, and "its new driver to be announced later this year." Come on, stop treating us like kids and nnounce it already!

Because Wheldon would rather stay with Bryan Herta's team. Simona was considered for that drive but she was not willing to do the same type of marketing Danica does.

Better question would be; Did Dario think he could get away with no penalty?

But leave it to IndyCar officials to come to Dario's aid by penalizing Castroneves for passing Hildebrand under yellow flags.

I wonder where the alien that has possessed Brian Barnhardt's body since New Hampshire is keeping the real Barnhardt? What was he thinking, giving TK a penalty under green for a speeding indiscretion, and Dario a "stay where you are" penalty?

Alesi to enter 2012 Indy 500

First things first, I don't think he has any idea what he's about to enter. (It's the 96th edition next year, not 101st)
Second, I want to see him do well.
Third, I don't think we'll see him next year, because with KV going with Chevy and Lotus/Judd going quiet, there's really no Lotus seat.

But it's Jean Alesi, so we all know he's gonna go bananas at Indy, find a way to go faster than anyone else, and be unluckier than TK at the same time... Also, townsed Bell will replace Justin Wilson next week at D-R-R, and Andretti are going to Chevy engines and ditching Honda. Surely thats a stupid thing to do; Honda's being the tried and tested and ultra-reliable?

I think it should be noted that HPD/American Honda has never beat an Ilmor engine in the IRL/ICS. HPD (not Honda) has just introduced its new twin-turbo V-6 in the ALMS LMP2 class and so far it is a disaster. The only reason it is leading the class is that it is the ONLY make in the class! The LMP2 V-6 is a production-based engine, unlike the Indycar V-6, but it is still a NEW engine from HPD (the second or third in its history). HPD's Berkman is sounding decidedly nervous about the new Indy V-6 and recently commented that American Honda doesn't have a great track record with its new engine projects; he gave this as a main reason that HPD is only offering one-year leases for the new powerplant.
