Oh, and I'd like to know what the hell happened in T1. Whatever that was, it costed me leading the race :twisted:

Jorma Kalervo announces that he will immediately change to the Moskovitch team as the Dacia is a total crapbox. Apparently Kalervo had walked straight to Dacias HQ's in Romania and threatened to burn the place down. :twisted:

Penguin livery stays on the new Moskovitch although the background color of the car will change from white to light green.

Race.
You thought the first few races were crazy? Well, as the words to a popular '70's rock song go, "You 'ain't seen nothing yet". The Vanautu track is a huge oval, however to spice things up, the track owners added a few chicanes and a very narrow hairpin section. This hairpin section proved the undoing of many drivers, and if you were in a Dacia, Lada or Wartburg, your chances of making it through unscathed were nil. Combine this with the fact that the start finish timer didn't extend to the pits meant that this was nearly the craziest race in REECCS history.
It is just about impossible to go into detail about this race in this review given that there was so much action, so lets just say that all of the Ladas crashed at the hairpin, along with just about everyone else, except for the Polski-Fiats, who drifted their way through the hairpins (though were gutless through the rest of the lap, meaning some Skodas were in the mix for the top positions). The biggest surprise of the race was the fact that two Trabants finished in the points! Back at the front, it was Rafel Lepel who won from Samael Meerwick and Tetsuya Takagi.

No awards will be given for this race.

Is there going to be a review video for this one?

The next round will see the introduction of a new driver to the Trabant Rolling Over competition. After being fueled by a deadly combination of VB, Bundy Rum and Monster Energy at the F1RMGP Bathurst 24 Hours, Bazza the Bogan thought "geez, I could race better than these bathplugging James Hunt's" and found an ad in the paper for a "Slightly burnt V8 Supercar, $500 no questions asked". He bought the thing over the phone, confused by the sellers "bathplugging confusing" accent. He didn't seem to mind the fact that it was pink and had Cillit Bang sponsorship, or the fact that the engine had exploded (the seller had thrown in a spare "race engine"). Unfortunately for Bazza, the spare "race engine" was a REECCS Trabant engine, and when trying to enter V8 Supercars he was laughed off.
When he sobered by two weeks later it was only then he realised what he'd bought and then drove to the scrap metal place, only to be turned away because Trabant's are made from cotton. That night, he flicked on the TV to watch a repeat of Baywatch, but instead stumbled across the REECCS enduro highlights. He then proceeded to put stickers of all his favourite stuff on the car, and bent a rusty old barbeque cover into the shape of a bonnet.

Round 5: Monaco

Qualifying

The REECCS returns to Monaco for the second time, with a record 43 cars on track for one of the tightest street circuits in the world. Surprisingly all of the cars manage to fit on the grid, the front being filled with Polski-Fiats the twisty streets suiting the light rear engined cars. Unfortunately for them the large amount of kerbs caught them out, the first example of this being Tetsuya Takagi, who rolled in front of the pack at the first corner. Later on many drivers proved that two wide through Loews Hairpin doesn't work, with the high kerbs catching any car out, while the swimming pool section wasn't anywhere near as chaotic as last season. Back at the front Ruby and Leon Albertini had turns at taking the lead, though Albertini rolled and ended up mired in the pack. Ruby backed off a bit to avoid rolling over, however Skoda driver Jason Hamilton was catching rapidly, and on the last lap made an overtake into Portier to take the lead. He almost lost it at the last corner, when he hit the inside barrier at the last corner, but he crossed the line just ahead of Ruby, 5 seconds ahead of Zbynek Benes. Samael Meerwick continued his consistent run with 4th.

I'm willing to suspend disbelief for 43 cars on track at Monte-Carlo, but how in the world could you get them all in the pit lane?!

That Vanuatu (not Vanautu) highlights reel was hilarious, by the way... But I have a suggestion: For the casual follower, like me, it's very hard to keep track of who drives which cars. Could you perhaps include the car brand in the results, so that I can laugh when a Trabant wins a race?

BTW does this series visit Holland? I don't remember anymore. If so, Carsten Jancker will be running a one-off Rabobank livery for that round

It's my lack of painting skills, and it's to some extent deliberate as well. It isn't professional, because this isn't a very professional series. I mean, 43 cars at Monaco. No serious championship would ever consider running that many cars in one race at that track.

Some of you may be thinking that this series is dead... well, you're wrong (at least for now). I'm going to try and run as many races as possible this week. Also, there will be no Monaco video due to me being a fool and forgetting to save the replay.

Also, the Lienz round will be replaced by a race at the BTC City Arena in Slovenia.

You'll be more likely to get run over by a Skoda, though not necessarily the one competing in the REECCS. Though the smart move would be to not get run over at all.

Next time I'm behind what used to be the Iron Curtain, I'll be playing Commie Car Bingo, and have at least one really rare car on there, say, an AZLK or a Moskvich Aleko. Or something Chinese...?

The reason this hasn't been running lately is because of exams over the past few weeks, and final school exams coming up soon... or I'm just too lazy to make the required highlights videos that make this series so great, or I completely forgot (I'm leaning towards the latter two as being the more truthful statements :mrgreen:

). Anyway, don't expect to see too many REECCS races until about mid November, though I'll try and fit in a few every now and again.

IT'S ALIVE!!!

Finally, the moment you've all been waiting ever so patiently for, the return of the one and only REECCS!

Round 6 - Lienz Rally Hillclimb

Qualifying

Race

It has to be said, this certainly wasn't one of the REECCS' greatest races. The narrow rally track layout prevented passing, and despite all of the twisty hairpins on the hillclimb sections, no Trabants were observed rolling over. You'd have thought that Jarno Trulli had made a one off guest drive with the train of cars forming in the mid pack, but these are 1970's cars from Eastern Europe so there's no power steering. Whilst there was a shortage of rollovers, spins and crashes, there were no shortage of jumps, with a railway crossing providing much off the ground action (see one of the images below).

The one driver positioned well enough to escape the train was Merak Keznorski, who simply dominated this race with a lights to flag victory. Leon Albertini and Jason Hamilton did make a challenge around the mid-point of the race, but Merak managed to build a larger gap towards the end. Albertini and Hamilton faded later in the race to finish 3rd and 5th respectively, with Zbynek Benes returning to the position he qualified in to take second. Tetsuya Takagi was the second best of the Polski-Fiat drivers in 4th, while Njord Munk only just beat Rick Simpson for the honours of best Lada, in 10th place.
