Round 7 - KicevoQualifying

Race.
After the relatively pedestrian race at Lienz, the REECCS returned to it's usual carnage filled best at the narrow Kicevo circuit in Macedonia. A few of the Trabants as well as Garfunkel's Moskvich missed the grid due to lack of grid spots. Even though most of the Trabants were gone before the race had begun, there were still plenty of rolls in this race, thanks to a few tyres placed on the inside of some corners. Rafal Lepel was the first to find out what hitting a tyre on the inside of a corner would do... as did much of the mid pack, with around four cars rolling simultaneously and causing a traffic jam. Other than the two Trabants that made the grid, the Polski Fiats were the most susceptible to ending up on their side. Even the relatively stable Ladas rolled a few times.
Some of the wilder incidents included some huge air time for Dargaan Zorzanov, Dinah Lance's Skoda catching on fire and Ferdinando Blaszikowski's hugely epic fail, that saw him go from having a 20 second lead to being a minute down in 30th! The key to this race was just to stay out of trouble, which was what most of the top 10 did. Guillaume Gauthier was one such driver, holding a 20 second gap to the rest of the field by not taking any risks while passing lapped traffic. His race was almost without incident... just before crossing the finish line, Rhys Davies' Lada emerged from the trees and slammed into the Marmite Lada, which ended up taking the win on only 3 wheels, before grinding to a halt about 50 meters up the road. Brucie Kibbutz had a great race to finish 2nd from a poor 26th grid slot, while Nikolai Nurmovitch completed a Lada sweep of the podium.

Master of Disaster (5 points): Rhys Davies
Look Ma, No Wheels! (2 points for a wheel, 10 for all four): Guillaume Gauthier, Rhys Davies, Laurent Seron

Njord Munk spins over a tyre

Carnage is too weak of a word to describe what's happening here...

Zorzanov gets some
serious hang time

...and what is Blaszikowski doing?

Gauthier crosses the line to take the victory... after slamming into Rhys Davies' Lada.

What year is it in REECCS-world? Or does it exist outside of time and space? Also, can somebody briefly explain all the various awards and things, so that I don't have to go trawling through the entire thread?
This is building up to a potential entry some time soon, but I don't want to mess around with my canon before I know what's going on.

That has to be the best race finish ever

I've probably said this before, but this is easily my favourite fantasy series on this forum. You know what I would like to see? An REECCS race with live commentary... I imagine it would be like Wacky Races.
By the way, in case you are planning to do another season after this, I would like to suggest Spa-Francorchamps for the calendar, the old circuit, that is

The REECCS sort of exists outside of time and space, since I haven't bothered to fit it in with the RWRS/ROLFS/RDS calendars. However, last season there was a round held at the Norisring (supposedly) alongside the F1RWRS, which means that last season would be the 2014 season and this season would be the 2015 season. This series shouldn't have much effect on RWRS canon, but there's another problem - there's now too many cars in the series (as evidenced by cars falling into thin air due to not enough grid spots), so I may have to stop accepting entries this season and for next season have a 1 car per member rule.

There should be a spin-off junior category with only 1 entry per user, and all teams must use Trabants!

I've decided to return to the rule I'd set earlier in the season, where only 35 cars start the race, with the remaining cars sitting out. The cars that will be DNQ'd are as follows:
4 Ladas
2 Skodas
2 Polski Fiats
If any more cars are entered, then these numbers will be re-calculated.
The one car per member rule is still under consideration for next season, as well as a limit to how many cars each brand can have (I'm currently considering 8 per car model).

Round 8 - Complex String (yes, that track from GT3... expect many Trabant rollovers here!)
Complex String was a late replacement for the Varshko ice racing track, which wasn't considered exciting enough for REECCS competition.
Pre-Qualifying:The following drivers did not qualify for the race:
Krzysztof Holowczyc
Richie White
Carsten Jancker
Jonas Mortarhouse
Ferdinando Blaszikowski
Leon Albertini
Jason Hamilton
Dinah Lance
Qualifying
RaceThe Complex String may have only been a last minute replacement, but it turned on some of the craziest racing seen so far this season in the REECCS. The testing layout caught out just about everyone, not even the very stable Lada and Dacia were immune from turning turtle. Whilst the sedans had a bit of trouble, the Polski Fiats and Skodas had an absolute nightmare, with many corners catching them out. The Trabants, as usual were rolling just about everywhere. This version of Complex String does not have any walls in between some areas of road, so a car could possibly roll into oncoming traffic, or just mess up the timing by going from 15th to 1st and down to 30th.
The first lap saw the start of the chaos, with Jackson Donaldson the first to roll, quickly followed by both the Uram Racing Fiats of Lepel and Uram. Politalia's two starters took the lead until two hugely comical errors - first, Piscopo slid across the track and ran head on into Ruby, second, both spun at exactly the same spot at the same time. This promoted Meerwick to the lead, with Rick Simpson in second. Meerwick then made a mistake into a chicane, which dropped him into second. Simpson then had a clear lead, and with sensible driving could've held on for the rest of the race... but then he made a mistake that dropped him to 4th, behind Meerwick and the two Davies', Rhys and James. Whilst everyone else continued to crash, the top 6 or so remained consistent, if not unscathed due to a few rolls here and there.
One of the best battles in the race was for 4th, between Meerwick, Gauthier and Davies. Meerwick was the quickest out of this group, but the Skoda, as previously mentioned was rather unstable, so there were a few small rolls. Davies and Gauthier were having a great battle, which were actually hurting the chances of Gauthier in the battle for the championship lead, as main rival Meerwick was getting ahead of the two Twinings/Marmite cars. Andraz Velikonja in 3rd, was seemingly in no-mans land, given the gaps ahead and behind him. Even a roll on the final lap didn't affect him too much, he just lost a bit of time to the leaders.
Usually in REECCS, there's two types of exciting races - races with close finishes and races with huge amounts of crashes. This race was one of the few to have both. With a lap to go it appeared that Rhys Davies would cruise to his first REECCS win, with a 4 second gap to Rick Simpson. However, a determined Simpson brought the gap down to 2.3 seconds by the middle sector. With a few corners to go, Simpson overtook Davies, but it still wasn't finished, with Davies getting a draft down the main straight. Unfortunately for him, this wasn't enough and he was beaten by Simpson by just over a tenth of a second. Velikonja finished 3rd, with Meerwick prevailing in the battle for 4th.

Due to concerns regarding Tetsuya's driving behavior in F3RWRS after "excessive exposure to roll-prone Eastern European machines", Tetsuya Takagi and TRE has, with immediate effect, withdrew from REECCS.

I'll plan a replacement later, but can anyone give a(n alternate) link to templates, especially for Polski-Fiat?

QualifyingI may have bathplugged up and pressed the video recording hotkey instead of the screenshot hotkey for FRAPS when recording results. Oops
RaceThis race was a complete lottery, from the qualifying session that put a few drivers to the back for exceeding their single allocated flying lap to the very tough first corner Give Way sign that was surrounded by tyres. Many cars met an early demise at the first corner, the first being Frank Drebin, who lost a wheel. On the second lap, one of the front runners spun and almost completely blocked the track, bringing much of the field to a snail's pace. This allowed the top 5 or so cars to make a breakaway, this pack being headed by Tetsuya Takagi, who wasn't meant to be driving here this weekend, but still showed up and was allowed to drive by the REECCS officials.
Kodosky Vulkatin was one of the front runners until losing a wheel at the first corner. Overtaking on the inside into Turn 1 was the cause of most of these accidents, with some being luckier than others - the Lada drivers Carsten Jancker and Rick Simpson proved the Lada is almost as strong as a tank. In the pit lane there were quite a few issues, as a glitch was causing cars to keep running into a wall, whilst on track, Brucie Bibbutz had managed to get stuck behind a wall.
Away from the chaos, there were two drivers in contention for the win - Takagi and Laurent Seron. Seron was 10 seconds behind with 5 minutes to go, but a slow Wartburg held up Takagi, so on the last lap they were nose to tail. It looked like it would be that way across the line... until Simon Garfunkel decided he wanted to overtake Seron at the last turn, despite being 2 laps down. The win went to Takagi, with Seron taking Dacia's best finish this season in 2nd, and Rhys Davies in 3rd. The biggest underdog result has to be Gio Van Dycke's 15th place, scoring points for Trabant! This is the first race in REECCS history where every manufacturer has scored points from the race positions.
