Well, I would assume that because the ovals here in the U.S., are not designed for wet weather in mind, coupled with the fact that they use slicks, it would be highly unlikely that they would have tires capable for oval racing for the wet.
This video probably explains why wet weather racing on ovals wouldn't work.
When I engineered a car in the 2003 ASCAR championship, we tested a car at the Rockingham oval (the UK one, of course) sometime in June with sort-of wet weather tyres on a wet track. They were actually BF Goodrich tyres designed for mud and they worked fairly well in the wet. Everything was in place in case of a wet race but it never happened.

I remember reading in Autosport that a year or two ago, the Nationwide Series used wet-weather tyres at Montreal built by Goodyear... in 1999. Presumably these were always designed for road courses (like Watkins Glen for the Winston Cup/Sprint Cup) rather than ovals then?

so far, the racing in Eldora has been pretty decent. not as much beatin' n bangin' as say, the Latemodel race, but still alright.
a couple drivers are running the Freedom 100 Latemodel race later tonight as well and i could say they have adapted well to the heavier trucks.
a couple "slide job" passes have been attempted. some successful, many not.

Mudsummer Classic was very entertaining race
. Though I'm still don't understand what causes the dirts become hard and slick
Now Nationwide and Sprint will have to find a larger dirt speedway since Eldora is a little bit small. 3/4 mile and 1 mile could do the job

I wouldn't be shocked with him at least for this weekend. I would place money on Nelsinho to make his debut in the Sprint Cup this weekend and then either Kyle Larson (Larson finished second in the race where Tony broke his leg and has been remarkably competitive in the Nationwide Series) or Regan Smith for ovals.

Papis is also a F1 Reject with a career best in F1 of 7th place in the 1995 Italian Grand Prix. Not a bad selection if I say so myself at least to contend for Watkins Glen.

In his defense, Ganassi hasn't had good equipment in years. Only this year have McMurray and Montoya qualified fairly well. They still fall off during the race really badly, though.

In his defense, Ganassi hasn't had good equipment in years. Only this year have McMurray and Montoya qualified fairly well. They still fall off during the race really badly, though.
The fact Montoya was little more than occasional contender for wins and never won when Jamie McMurray won Daytona and the Brickyard a few years back should have been sounding the alarm bells that Montoya has a ceiling that isn't more than bottom of the chase with the likes of Martin Truex Jr. JPM isn't going to get much better than what we saw 2010 and will often be much worse to the point of mediocrity in NASCAR.

Stewart-Haas might expand to a fourth car with Kurt Busch behind the wheel. I think we know either there is some sponsors lined up for Busch or that Danica and Harvick are so laden with sponsorship money that there is extra left over.

So SHR has one legitimate championship threat, who will be rusty post injury(Stewart),
One championship threat who is his own worst enemy and stuck in the 4th car (Busch)
One Overrated Henpecked Hothead (Harvick)
And one driver who was touted as a championship contender by the media and now 34th at Bristol is a "good points day" (Danica)
I'm not really seeing how they're as big a threat as everything is saying they are, despite being the Hendrick B-Team.........

Indeed. Busch hasn't been an outlaw at all this year* and has shown he can run in the top 5 and top 10 area with a team that is based out in Colorado and has not had decent performances in the past few years. He can do something, doing what you said Salamander.

He has proven he might return to being a championship contender once again with a run like this with the inferior pit crew that FRR has due to their base in Colorado.
