1995 - ROUND 5 - MONACO

Qualifying

Quite good indeed. Of course we didn´t expect it to come out as in Spain, but given how much I like Monaco and the disadvantage of the Pacific it wasn´t bad at all.

Race

I did an incredibly good start and climbed to 9th, touching wheels with Irvine at Ste. Devote. Hakkinen quickly passed me and was already 1.7 secs behind him by the end of the first lap. Despite going for 3 stops the first set of tyres didn´t come out very good and struggled to keep position at all times. Hakkinen and Berger retired on 2nd lap so I climbed to 8th but Coulthard was 6.3 ahead. Irvine passed me on 3rd lap, then Brundle two laps later, and Panis on lap 8, leaving me 10th counting Alesi´s retirement. On lap 11 Irvine retired and Panis was already 14 secs ahead!! Katayama and Frentzen both stopped on lap 18, Salo on lap 20 and I waited until lap 22, then slipped back to 14th and was passed by Salo, Frentzen and Katayama. Suzuki stopped afterwards, leaving me 13th. Coulthard retired on lap 26 and then Salo suffered an accident on lap 28. It wasn´t being hard to keep Badoer behind but both Minardi´s stopped sooner than me, on lap 37, that meant a mistake as Suzuki had to wait for Badoer´s pit and lost a couple of seconds, so I found myself 12th after the stop, having lost position to Badoer this time. Luca was faster, and Morbidelli also got to pass me as well on lap 47 before my gearbox failed altogether and had to retire.

Fastest lap; Michael Schumacher -- 1.17.630
DOTR; Michael Schumacher; Passed Barrichello at Ste.Devote and solved the race in style.
ROTR; Ferrari; Old reliability ghosts appeared again and both Alesi and Berger were out before 10 laps.

1995 - ROUND 6 - CANADA

QUALIFYING

Pretty decent qualifying having in count our chances. Andrea didn´t even manage to beat the Larrousses and Coulthard left it all for the last minute and failed to deliver altogether, therefore the big surprise. Suffered an electrical problem during qualifying but didn´t affect me much.

RACE

The start wasn´t very good as I felt to the outside at the second corner and got passed by Inoue, but got to re-pass him and also Morbidelli by the end of the first lap. On lap 5 Berger retired, then Salo, then Irvine and then Hill on lap 9, making it 13th, and following Suzuki without much hassle, but something went wrong with a wheel and had to make an extra stop to fix it, falling to 17th and 21 secs short of Inoue. I recovered the gap in 10 laps and passed the Japanese and Verstappen as well and found myself some 30 secs behind Wendlinger, but soon Morbidelli´s engine failed and Wendlinger suffered an accident trying not to crash with the Arrows and enter the pitlane at the same time so I found myself 13th again. The rest of the race consisted basically on keeping position as the Minardis were faster and Inoue and Verstappen weren´t rivals, making it for a quiet Sunday.

FASTEST LAP: Johnny Herbert -- 1.24.103
DOTR: Johnny Herbert; Would have won having followed Schumacher´s strategy
ROTR: David Coulthard; Ok, he didn´t race at all, but not qualifying a Jordan with Fortis and Larrousses on track is straight shameful.

P.S. I've got a problem with GP4, as i've had to reinstall everything, it comes with the following message and I was wondering if you could help me.

Not enough access to read from the registry.
If you are running Windows Vista, make sure you grant administrator rights to the executable.
Right click the exe file and select run as administrator.

I use Windows 7 though, and run the file as administrator.

1995 - ROUND 7 - FRANCE

QUALIFYING

Not the best effort of the season. I managed a good lap on Friday but I couldn´t match the pace on Saturday after suffering a transmission problem and having to abort my second try. In the end, a bit disappointing to end behind Verstappen.

RACE

I did a good start and was 19th at the first corner, then, the big mess at the hairpin favoured me a lot as I emerged 10th out of it!! Found a clean way on the inside, went for it and... miraclously didn´t hit anybody. I obviously didn´t have the speed to be there and I quickly formed a big group behind me, with Brundle 5 secs ahead at the end of the first lap! It took Frentzen 3 laps to pass me, but I went back to 10th as Barrichello retired next lap. I made a mistake on lap 8 and came back 16th, then I suffered an accident with Salo next lap, having to stop for a new Front Wing and with one of the sidepods partially destroyed, but I was determined to carry on; only this time from last and 45 secs behind Diniz. The Forti was not a rival and it took just 10 laps to pass it, leaving me 33.6 secs behind Schiattarella. My first stop came at lap 26, this leaving me 11.9 secs behind the Larrousse of Bouchut. I was just about to get to him when the engine failed due to overheating (probably because the radiators failed thanks to the sidepod thing).
Schumacher took another win after Hill threw away an easy win by crashing first with the back of Diniz´s car and spun later.

Fastest lap: Damon Hill (Williams-Renault) -- 1.24.117
ROTR: Damon Hill - Threw a win and left Schumacher with no other option but winning again.
DOTR: Jean Alesi - Amazing drive in front of home crowd only for his Ferrari to stop. Could have won.

I sincerely don´t know when my career will end, but Formula One is very demanding and I´ve been eleven years into it, plus all the time it took to reach it, so I don´t see myself racing in F1 for more than three or four seasons from now on.

A question for Mr Dagnall. Now Ferrari have been making no secrets that they want to turn around the team from the doldrums they're in. Afterall, they haven't won a drivers championship in 16 years and that doesn't look like changing anytime soon. Have Ferrari been in contact with you and if so do you think you're the answer to their problems?

Nobody at Ferrari has contacted me or my agent. It´s no secret that every driver wants to drive one day for Ferrari for what they mean, and what they are. Anyway, it´s still early in the season and I don´t do plans this soon!

After the experience at Pacific I don't think Mr Dagnall would want to do that sadly.

Personally if I were a betting man I'ld put money on a Schumacher/Dagnall combo for Ferrari next year.

1995 - ROUND 8 - BRITISH GRAND PRIX

Qualifying

Racing at home gives you wings, you know... However, these are very short if it happens you´re driving a Pacific. Not a bad effort, though.

Race

I really, badly wanted this GP to mean the 2nd points finish for Pacific this year, and the start did give me a small hope of this happening. I did a fantastic start and took advantage of an accident by Brundle at the first corner to climb to 14th. A further fight between Panis and Frentzen meant I was 12th by the end of the first lap! ... As you can imagine, it didn´t last for very long. I could keep holding Panis and Frentzen for a while but Badoer quickly opened a serious gap ahead, until he retired on lap 9. Barrichello spun and I even made it to 10th and 4 secs off Coulthard, with Hakkinen pitting with a problem and making it to 9th, but that was it, since holding Panis took all the grip from my tyres and pushing too much to keep him behind meant I went off the track on lap 18 and damaged my front wing. Entering for a new one cost me entering too early for my first stop, and when I left the pits I was 15th, behind Brundle. I lost to Frentzen when the German stopped but managed to pass again Brundle and Salo. On lap 32 I touched wheels with Salo while trying to keep the 13th place and ghe pased me. I was running comfortably in 13th on lap 38 when the engine went and I was left sideways, which is never a good thing in front of your home crowd. Schumacher managed to win again, making this the most boring championship ever.

ROTR: Rubens Barrichello -- Continued the comical set of scenes at Williams throwing away a potential win.
DOTR: Michael Schumacher -- Once again, perfect race after a poor start.

1995 - ROUND 9 - GERMAN GP - Hockenheim

Qualifying

Friday was quite bad but the situation improved with a better setup on Saturday. I couldn´t make the most of it though as I felt I could have finished ahead of Inoue at least.

Race

I did an average start from 21st but the melée at the first chicane meant I could move into 17th by slamming on the brakes and miracously not eating another car along the way. I even passed Morbidelli. At the start of the 2nd lap Morbidelli passed me at the first corner and at the very same moment Frentzen tried a really stupid move which left me in the sand trap and damaging my Front Wing. I tried to make it back to the pits but lost downforce at the Motordrome entrance and crashed into the barriers. Schumacher made it a boring race after Barrichello chose a wrong 2-stop strategy.

FASTEST LAP: Michael Schumacher (Benetton) -- 1.53.155
DOTR: Michael Schumacher -- Superb once again.
ROTR: Eddie Irvine, threw the chance of getting points even though he was running 4th at the beggining.

1995 - ROUND 10 - HUNGARIAN GP - Hungaroring

Qualifying

Everything went alright and I found myself a bit in the middle of nowhere. Played a bit with the setup on Saturday but didn´t produce any positive result.

Race

Everything went good at the start and I could keep my position. Both Minardis had trouble so it meant I was behind the Tyrrells for the first part of the race. After a few laps my tyres went and Wendlinger started to put a bit of pressure but could keep him behind. The second stint was a bit better with me approaching both Tyrrells, while the Minardis were closing on. At some point Badoer catched me and the intense fight resulted in a collission with me spinning and him at the wall at retiring. Later on, I lost the Front wing and the extra time lost meant I fell again in the middle of nowhere for the last part of the race until an Oil Leak put me aside with one lap to go.
At the front, Schumacher dominated once again. The press said "Snorefest: Part 10"

FASTEST LAP: Michael Schumacher -- 1.21.276
ROTR: Minardi - Errors by both drivers meant they went home with two costly repair bills.

Once Schumacher rumours are confirmed, the next big movement is expected from Chris Dagnall, who's currently driving for backmarkers Pacific. Dagnall could have a hard time with the many offers over his table. As much as 4 teams are believed to pretend him. Williams may be looking for a new pair of drivers after Damon Hill isn't confirming his good 1994 season, while Barrichello isn't being any trouble for Schumacher either. Benetton, on the other hand, will need a new lead driver if Schumacher leaves. Jean Alesi is believed to hunt that drive but Dagnall may be another option. The third team in the cards is Ligier. The french squad is impressing everybody this season and a driver of Dagnall's category may be what they need to go for the championship. The people at Mugen would be eager to work again with Chris after he won the 1994 Belgian GP in one of their engines. The other offer would come from Jordan. The squad led by the happy Irishman Eddie Jordan seem ready to get in the hunt for wins with their engine partnership with Peugeot and Dagnall may be the perfect driver for them.
