You can tell this was an exciting race... the forum keeps not letting me post because people have posted every time I try and hit the submit button... No I do not want to review my f**king post in light of this!

I think they'll most likely just give him a grid spot penalty if he's found at fault. The F1 community would grill the stewards if they took away his win.

I wonder if Petrov overtook Kamui under yellow flag or before the safety car line? He did seem to sort of pass him out of nowhere.

And as for stewards taking away wins: Lewis at Spa.

That race was pretty much Jenson Button's career in microcosm wasn't it?

It started off with enormous promise, but then with some dodgy decisions and bad luck it all went spectacularly wrong and he seemed doomed to squander his talent at the back of the field. Then suddenly the cards fell for him, he made the most of the opportunity that landed in his lap and he pulled out a stunning result to put himself back at the front of the grid.

Hamilton looked like a losing nominee at the Oscars just there.

They didn't have an opportunity to penalise Hamilton during the race at Spa, they had ample time to do so to Button here. I doubt they'd take away his win, it'd look really bad.
Then again F1 is never afraid to make itself look bad....

On the last restart, as the camera tracks the leaders through the first couple of corners, you could *just* about see a white car going wide at the first corner. My guess is that was Kobayashi, and that on rejoining he had some incident with Petrov. There were no replays (though you can't blame the TV director for staying with the front 4) so I guess we won't know.

What a finish for Jenson Button! Dead last at one point in the race, to win the race at the last lap. This is more than IIDOTR, this is "Bending the Theory of Reality"! This will go down as a one of the great moments in Formula 1 history.

Surely that is a record for most pitstops by a race winner

Oh, come on. The incident with Alonso was a racing accident, that is at worst a simple reprimand.

This eclipses the time webber won at Nurburgring by dominating even with a drive through,. purely for the fightning nature of the victory.

After all the Bahrain bullcrap, this is exactly what F1 needed. Cheers Canada, Button, Kamui, stupid marshall; cheers, every one.

Odd though that they decided to put it under investigation if that was the case and Kamui just went wide, to be honest. Maybe it's just the Kobayashi fanboy in me

Disappointing for Williams again. Somehow they went from around 6th and 9th at the final restart to both out of the points within one lap!

They just about squeezed this within the two hour mark - and boy did that race explode into action later on - my head is reeling, since that was just frenetic at the end. How Button didn't end up planting the car into the wall when snapping past Webber, I don't know - and his pace was staggering at the end. Where the hell did that sort of performance come from - and, for that matter, the confidence; he was really wringing the neck of his car.
I really hope, though, that Button doesn't get hit with a post race penalty (speaking of which, how many people are being investigated - that must be some sort of record), because that would detract from a stunning recovery drive (although he could well be penalised for that passing attempt on Alonso - though Button was fairly far alongside Alonso there, so they might just rule that Button did have the racing line).

I can somehow see Hamilton being a twat and going to the stewards about his incident with Button.

In the end, only 0.045 seconds between Massa and Kobayashi... And I am glad Vettel didn't win and Schumacher didn't get a podium. Not anti-German, just like the success to be spread around. If I wake up in the morning and they have deemed it worthy to give Button a penalty, I will find it hard not to despair.

One of the best races I've seen (eventually), even though as a RBR fan I'm disappointed in the result.

So, what follows the best race ever? Valencia? Oh...

I think at some point everyone in the race was under investigation or got a drive-through penalty immediately bar one driver, so I would like to congratulate Vitantonio Liuzzi on his moral victory!

It was, I believe, Di Resta and Heidfeld. Also, the collision between Hamilton and Button is also due to be investigated.

I think it is unlikely - he didn't seem angry at Button in an interview during the red flag session, saying that he thought that Button must have just not seen him. And, as you say, getting Button penalised would only benefit Vettel - not to mention being pretty corrosive for inter-team relations.

got mixed feeling about drs after this just highlighting schumacher without drs I don't think mark would of got passed so easily

Why cant we just host every race at Montreal? After that, who wants a Valencia snoozefest? (and a probable lights to flag win for the Vettel steamroller...)

Well, to be honest, we need some "boring" races to really appreciate these pearls we're having in Montreal. Also, I'm optimistic that Valencia will be semi-decent.

I suppose I have to go to bed now, though I have to calm down a bit after all the excitement first. Wish I didn't have to go to work tomorrow - I'd rather watch a rerun of the race given that it'd take the best part of a day to deconstruct all the various things going on.
I'm wondering if I'll ever see an F1 race finish at around 10PM again in my lifetime. Probably not.

The Sport1 announcer for the race highlights has said it very well: "And people say F1 is boring. If this is boring to them, they should go watch the Muppet show or something like that."

They had much more down force than anyone else; and in the damp that equals grip.
