How about them Blackhawks?
That was the first championship for any team I root for since 1977. So sweet.
I tend to root for teams that are crap, especially considering I started supporting Williams in 2006 and plus my football team have only ever won one trophy in over 130 years.

Excepting the Blackhawks, because there are no hockey teams in the Northwest (and Vancouver is Canada, sorry), every other team I root for is based on where I've lived my entire life. So, it's just that Portland and Seattle sports teams suck -- it's not that I picked bad teams intentionally.
This thread is hilarious. Someone jinxed the forum by bringing up the World Cup (ironically telling everyone NOT to talk about it), and now we've ran off-trail going on about all sorts of sports with no relation to F1. XD I am laughing~

I don't even understand the concept of "off-topic" much. If the 2 junior mods are like that, what else did you expect?

So we are no good at keeping things "on-track," eh? Perfect F1 Reject fodder then if we were F1 drivers then, always driving off - track...

A bit like Massa in a bad day, then.
My computer can't handle the rain, either.
And just like F1 cars, my computer tends to crash rather alot, and worrying also occasionally catches fire

Is it by any chance a French computer in a rather fetching blue, white and yellow, with parmalat on the sides and operated by a rather well funded Brazilian?

Or could it possibly be a rather flimsy-built Italian botch job, with a weird-shaped processor?

Possibly the latter, it has a Ferrari badge on it...

Or perhaps it's the Life badge, which looked a bit like the Ferrari typeface a little...
After all the talk about the World Cup, I came up with this idea.
If F1 teams were soccer teams...
Premier League
Red Bull: Best starting lineup of all the teams, but have a tendency to crack under pressure and score a few own goals.
McLaren: Haven’t had the best starting lineup, but have been lucky after Red Bull scored a few own goals. The captain is somewhat similar to David Beckham in the fact that his girlfriend is a singer in a pop group.
Ferrari: The team with the biggest fan base and the most loyal fans are looking to bounce back after their worst season for almost 20 years. Their captain was injured and the Italian substitute players were not anywhere near as good.
Mercedes: Last year’s champions after coming from the Minor League in 2008. Have hired Schumacher, one of the greatest players of all time, but at 41 years of age is past his prime. However the team still give him preferential treatment and the other players aren’t happy about this.
Renault: Former champions who hit rock bottom last year after their manager and coach were both involved in a match fixing scandal and were banned by FIFA. They have signed some younger players, including a Russian who is paying the team to play.
Williams: Once one of the greatest teams, but are fast becoming cellar dwellers and face dropping to the Minor League if they don’t improve soon. Their captain is the most experienced player in the league but is becoming too old.
Force India: Despite the name, there are no Indians on this team except for the manager. They have improved recently after being the winners of the wooden spoon for the past two years.
Toro Rosso: Junior team to Red Bull. Some think they should not be in the Premier League because of this, but they have outperformed some of the more established teams this year.
Sauber: Were on top form in the friendly matches before the season, but have been stuck on a downward slide ever since. In a few matches the entire team has been sent off the field.
Minor League
Lotus: A revival of the famous Lotus team who were the top team in the 60’s and 70’s. Are leading the Minor league and are looking to step up to the Premier league next year.
Virgin: Have struggled this season after it was found that some of their players could not make it through a whole match without becoming dehydrated. They are now improving and are battling with Lotus for the Minor League.
Hispania: Only just made the start of the season after signing a new manager. They have struggled with their players who did not train in the off season. Are in a spot of bother after they defaulted on payments to the shoe manufacturer who provides the team with soccer boots.
CarlosFerreira wrote:Raikkonen and Montoya could have been grand, but were ultimately disappointing. Miss them both, though.
At least Montoya did (kind of) leave F1 at the top, which few drivers do (and he's never coming back). Whats the quote? "All F1 drivers leave F1 out the back door, even Nigel Mansell"? He proved that wrong. So far Raikkonen has also done that but only time will tell if he's really finished with the sport.

I've been reading some of the older race reviews (Reading the 2006 French Grand Prix review as we speak) and I have something to say concerning that: Jamie and Enoch were probably correct in saying that De La Rosa should have been in the second McLaren in 07.
I also found this in the 2005 Australian Grand Prix Review:

Behind Alonso or Hamilton?
'Cos without that McLaren season Alonso would have been trading on 2006 in 2010, and Hamilton clearly showed he deserved to be in F1 in 2007.
The thing about Sutil is that every season that passes where he doesn't move away from Force India, you worry that he won't be as good the next season.
Be that as it may, watka, I don't think there's any doubt that this is his best season yet (and last season his 2nd best). He just seems to be getting better and better. I have to agree that he could consider himself unlucky to never get a chance at a top team.

At what?
"will you stop him playing tennis then?", referring to Montoya's famous shoulder injury, to which Whitmarsh replied "well, it's very difficult to play tennis on a motorbike"

Of course this is his best season so far. What I really mean is that if Force India pull out a dog of a car next season, there's a good chance that his career achievements so far will be completely ignored by the big teams.

Fair point, I think you're spot on there actually. That's pretty much what happened to Heidfeld - he went to Jordan, and they produced a poor car, he went to Williams, and they didn't live up to their promise, he went to BMW, they looked alright for a while and then in 2009 they failed to live up to any expectations, and now he's not in a race drive at all. I really hope Findia can keep up their steady progress up the grid, for Sutil's sake if nothing else.
