This wrote:anything that's good enough for backwards racing (or caravan racing, another dutch specialty) is good enough for this forum. If any new championships are coming, it's going to be something like that, because we have almost anything. I highly doubt many caravan-racing mods will exist. Perhaps bus racing, truck racing, or forklift racing would be exiting too. (hey, we had somebody doing lawnmowers, so basically we could use anything that has wheels)

There are actually bus and truck mods available for rFactor! If anyone wants to start a new series, they should start a series using one of these rather than yet another open wheeler series.

Even stranger are some of the mods in the Novel section of rFactor Central... especially the Stinker Cup

Also, I mentioned World Racing 2 in a previous post, and seeing the number of mods for Eastern European cars, and that there are online free roam modes, we should have a REECCS cruise - it's fairly cheap now, and has fairly low system requirements. Only problem is that the unpatched version has the dreaded StarForce protection, so it might bathplug up your computer if you use Windows 7.

Round 10: Miseluk Madness

Report (chat log)

Code: Select all

21:41   MinardiFan   Pre Qualifying for the Miseluk round is almost underway
21:41      *** TMLW quit (Quit: http://www.mibbit.com ajax IRC Client)
21:42   MinardiFan   ...the paddock resembles an episode of "will it blend" as all the cars attempt to be placed in the same pit stall
21:43   Wizzie   Will it blend: REECCS edition... now THAT I'd pay good money to see :L
21:43   Wizzie   "Trabant smoke. Don't breathe this" :L
21:53   MinardiFan   Only a few minutes to go: now would be a good time for a reminder of the REECCS pre qualifying rules: The slowest of these will get knocked out - 4 Ladas, 2 Skodas & 2 Polski Fiats
21:54   Wizzie   What cars am I using again?
21:54   MinardiFan   This looks like a good track for Trabant rollovers
21:54   MinardiFan   Two Skodas
21:55   MinardiFan   Pre Qualifying is over, with Jason Hamilton topping the time sheets... which isn't important
21:57   Wizzie
21:57   MinardiFan   Going home early will be: Rick Simpson, James Davies, Rhys Davies, Maxim Simonov, Leon Albertini, Matej Uram, Merak Keznorski and Zbynek Benes
21:57   Wizzie   Whitmarsh at the end :L
21:59   MinardiFan   Now, it's time for the main qualifying session
22:00   MinardiFan   Meerwick is first out and pleases the crowd with a quick roll
22:09   Klon   Timo Glock has become a dad
22:09   Klon   guess which world champion his kid shares a name with
22:10   Darkapprentice77   michael
22:10   Wizzie   20 bucks says it's Lewis
22:10   MinardiFan   vettelwinslol
22:10   Klon   nope, although Darkapprentice was close
22:10   Darkapprentice77   mika
22:10   Klon   yep
22:10   Darkapprentice77
22:11   MinardiFan   Meanwhile, in the crazy world of REECCS, Dargaan Zorzanov has taken pole, from Tom Douglas, Rafal Lepel, Jason Hamilton and Ferdinando Blaszikowski
22:12   Darkapprentice77   i guess tom's doing much better in REECCS than he is in RTCC
22:12   MinardiFan   Not really IIRC
22:12   Wizzie   Hey, leave poor Tom alone! He was epic this morning in Suzuka
22:13   Darkapprentice77   well in race 1 his brakes failed at 130R, scary moment
22:13   MinardiFan   This is the highest I remember seeing him... the REECCS is almost a completely random series... last year's champion is 40th in the standings in the best car
22:14   Darkapprentice77   race 2 he qualified well in 6th but dropped to 12th
22:14   MinardiFan   The race will be starting in a mere matter of moments
22:14   Wizzie   The fact he hauled that shitbox up to 6th to begin with was a minor miracle
22:15   MinardiFan   We have a Trabant starting under a fire truck... this is not good!
22:15   Darkapprentice77   yeah the cavalier's pretty old
22:15   Wizzie   And he would have finished in the top 10 in the first race if the brakes didn't let go on him
22:16   MinardiFan   4 cars DNF due to starting behind a wall
22:16   Wizzie   Ah, only on F1R MinardiFan :L
22:16   Klon   best retirements ever
22:17   Wizzie   Nah, I think Danny Ramone driving into a lake on lap 1 still takes the cake
22:17   MinardiFan   Zorzanov still leads
22:17   MinardiFan   Drebin started UNDER a fire truck!
22:18   MinardiFan   The gap from 1st to 3rd is already huge, at 11 seconds
22:19   MinardiFan   Douglas passes Seron... and rolls in the process
22:19   MinardiFan   ...he dropped to 16th from 4th
22:19   Wizzie   Nice work Tom :L
22:20   MinardiFan   Douglas rolls again at the hairpin!
22:20   MinardiFan   ROTR easily at the moment
22:20   Wizzie   I think he's given up on the race already and is trying to go for the master of disaster award
22:21   MinardiFan   Meanwhile, Zorzanov is walking away with it at the front, a 16 second gap after only 6 minutes
22:22   MinardiFan   A horror race for MRT - Donaldson's out after hitting a post while avoiding a rolling Hamilton
22:22   MinardiFan   Dennis Scott tries a pass in his Trabant... of course it rolls
22:23   MinardiFan   Gauthier takes second from Lepel
22:24   Wizzie   I stand corrected then. MRT as a whole must be heading for the Master of Disaster award
22:24   MinardiFan   Brucie Kibbutz is out after hitting the same post as Donaldson
22:25   MinardiFan   Douglas forces series newcomer Travis Crabtree up a grassed bank in his Wartburg
22:26   MinardiFan   Zorzanov now starts to lap cars, with a 21 second gap at the halfway point
22:28   MinardiFan   For a few brief moments, it had seemed that normality had came to the REECCS... trust a Trabant to break that normality with a roll, as Girard takes a tumble
22:28   MinardiFan   Now the other remaining Trabant of Scott is behind a wall
22:29   MinardiFan   Seron's Dacia has a large train of Ladas forming behind it
22:31   MinardiFan   Douglas rolls yet again, after trying to troll newcomer Wayne Rosberg
22:31   MinardiFan   Jorma Kalervo decides to join the crowd at one corner after running wide
22:32   Wizzie   So Douglas's useless twin has decided to show up this weekend. And not a single bathplug was given at MRT that day
22:32   MinardiFan   Finally, Njord Munk and Niko Bellic manage to pass Seron's Dacia
22:32   MinardiFan   Holowcyzc has a quick roll, and doesn't lose too much positions
22:33   Klon   Räikkönen got a grid penalty btw
22:33   MinardiFan   Richie White spins at the hairpin and takes an Alitalia car for company
22:35   MinardiFan   Zorzanov has been simply brilliant today, with a 28 second gap as he starts the final lap
22:37   MinardiFan   Zorzanov crosses the line to take the win at Miseluk
22:37   MinardiFan   gauthier is 2nd
22:37   MinardiFan   Blaszikowski 3rd, Lepel 4th
22:37   Wizzie   And Douglas will be rolling over the finish line for the heck of it, right?
22:38   MinardiFan   Munk 5th, Bellic 6th, Nurmovitsch 7th, Jancker 8th, Senerson 9th and Lance 10th
22:38   MinardiFan   Douglas finishes 23rd, but doesn't roll over the line... as it's on a straight
22:39   Wizzie   Boo. Shouldn't have stopped the pommy bastard from trying though
22:39   MinardiFan   Championship leader Meerwick only manages 24th, just behind Douglas!
22:39   Wizzie   Good lord, how on earth did he do worse than Douglas?
22:39   MinardiFan   This should give Gauthier the series lead
22:40   MinardiFan   Wizzie, I have no idea, will have to check the replay
22:42   MinardiFan   Full results and awards to be posted soon... this chat will be used as the race report

If it's okay with Nuppiz I'm renewing Carsten Jancker's contract for...well, whatever year is next season. I'm not really sure what calendar this series operates on!

Also, we're sacking Krzysztof Holowczyc with immediate effect and putting Serbian banger racing ace Srecko Subotic in the #43 instead.

Anonymous, outside the points and behind someone who spent most of the race either on his roof or just generally being a grade-A clown

Considering that this series is outside of the canon, I have no problem with this.

NRE will continue next year, however Nathan Nurmester will move into Nurmovitsch's place, who is preparing for his retirement.

The Wartburg is the worst car to have. Only the Trabant is less competitive, but at least the Trabant gives you funny moments. In the video reviews you seldomly see a Wartburg. Commercially it's the worst choice.
If you perefer to be competitive: Skoda or Lada, now and then the Polski and Dacia can get results too at some tracks.
If you prefer WTF moments: Trabants and Polskis are the best, now and then Skoda and Lada can do rejectful things too at some tracks.

Round 11: Omnitel 1000km

Race report (which is just a chat log because I'm lazy)

Code: Select all

MinardiFan   Pre qualifying is now underway. The 4 slowest ladas, 2 slowest skodas and 2 slowest Polski Fiats will be knocked out
20:34   Wizzie   Don't let me down Tom and Jackson
20:35   MinardiFan   Err, Jackson doesn't race anymore... you gave his car to dark77
20:35      *** TMLW joined #F1Rejects
20:35   Wizzie   Oh, forgot about that
20:36   TMLW   I swear my internet spends more time down than up.
20:37   MinardiFan   The REECCS cars are looking superb with their new F1 Rejects numberplates
20:37   TMLW   Has it started yet?
20:38   MinardiFan   Pre qualifying is currently underway
20:39   Salamander   ah, reeccs
20:39   Salamander   as i recall gauthier is somehow leading the points
20:39   MinardiFan   Lada drivers that didn't make the cut are: Rhys Davies, James Davies, Maxim Simonov and Niko Bellic
20:40   TMLW   Lag: 15717ms. WTF!?
20:40   TMLW   Oh, even better. What are the PQ rules again?
20:41   MinardiFan   Skoda drivers that didn't make the cut are: Samael Meerwick and Dargaan Zorzanov
20:42   MinardiFan   ...and Fiat drivers that didn't make the cut are Jacek Piscopo and matej Uram
20:43   MinardiFan   TMLW: the slowest 4 Ladas, 2 Skodas and 2 Polski-Fiats are cut from the field
20:43   MinardiFan   Onto qualifying proper now
20:44   MinardiFan   Richie White has decided to push Tom Douglas' car onto it's side in the pitlane... it is now blocking the exit
20:46   Wizzie   Meanwhile, the Mad Uncle has just collapsed in fits of laughter in the pitlane
20:51   MinardiFan   Qualifying is over... series newcomer Bill Phenett has taken the pole with Merak Keznorski and Jason Hamilton making it a Skoda top 3.
20:52   TMLW   Who?
20:52   Salamander   phenett is dark's driver
20:52   Wizzie   Ah, so that's who's driving the ex-MRT Skoda
20:53   MinardiFan   Race to begin in a minute or 2
20:56   MinardiFan   No cars falling off the map
20:57   Wizzie   Any driving into the local scenery?
20:57   MinardiFan   It's a surprisingly clean run so far
20:58   MinardiFan   ...until now, we have a few loose barriers on the track
20:59   MinardiFan   ...and even more surprisingly, Douglas is 3rd!
20:59      *** Eurobrun joined #F1Rejects
20:59   Wizzie   You mean that Tom hasn't throw it into the nearest barrier yet?
21:00   Eurobrun   What is going on
21:00   MinardiFan   He actually drove over some, and is now in  the battle for 2nd
21:00   MinardiFan   REECCS
21:00   Wizzie   Ah, Eurobrun. Nuppiz wants to know if you want to put Gio van Dycke back in the car in the LGPS
21:00   Salamander   you really want to do that
21:01   Salamander   dumm is useless
21:01   Eurobrun   Yeah put Van Dycke back in the car
21:02   Eurobrun   Dumm was a boss in the 1991 NC race but useless everywhere else
21:03   MinardiFan   Rick Simpson has spun and is now back to the tail of the field. Also, there has been a first Trabant roll, courtesy of Jean Girard
21:03   Eurobrun   Is Hamilton still in REECCS
21:04   TMLW   For a series known for chaos, there has been a distinct lack of ZIMSANITY in its history, hasn't there?
21:04   MinardiFan   Jorma Kalervo has understeered straight into the armco, and an Alitalia car has spun, causing a traffic jam
21:04   MinardiFan   yes Eurobrun, he's in 6th right now
21:04   Eurobrun   Ahh good
21:06   MinardiFan   Simon Garfunkel has had a very awkward roll in his Wartburg
21:07   Eurobrun   For the record, I hope davies is lying about being blindfolded
21:07   Eurobrun   In the lawnmower race
21:08   MinardiFan   Halfway through the race, it is Bill Phenett in the lead fro Tom Douglas and Dinah Lance
21:08   Wizzie   So, in effect an MRT 1-2. Nice
21:09   MinardiFan   Phenett almost had an accident with van Dycke in the Trabant coming up to a chicane
21:10   MinardiFan   Richie White has rolled at the chicane
21:10      *** TMLW quit (Quit: http://www.mibbit.com ajax IRC Client)
21:11   MinardiFan   Leon Albertini is a bit lost at the final chicane
21:12   MinardiFan   With 5 minutes to go, Douglas is slowly catching Phenett... can he take the lead?
21:13   Salamander   eurobrun why
21:14   MinardiFan   Gio van Dycke retires from the race after a huge roll
21:14   MinardiFan   Douglas runs wide and hands 2nd to Dinah Lance
21:15   MinardiFan   ...but Lance rolls at the chicane!
21:15   Wizzie   I thought it was about to be the beginning of the DOUGLASFAILSLOL landslide
21:16   MinardiFan   One minute left... Phenett starts the final lap
21:16   Eurobrun   Because I think it is way too unrealistic for anyone to even go the right way blindfolded
21:17   MinardiFan   rafel Lepel manages to go down the pitlane backwards on the side of the polski Fiat
21:18   Salamander   yeah well davies is just that good
21:18   MinardiFan   Phenett crosses the line to take a convincing win over Douglas, Zbynek Benes, Dinah Lance and Jason Hamilton
21:19   Eurobrun   In his own mind
21:19   Salamander   nah its the truth
21:20   Salamander   you just cant handle it
21:20   Eurobrun   He isn't actually that amazing, but he is hilarious
21:20   MinardiFan   Results will be posted on the forum soon

Round 12 - RabaRing

Report - (again a chat log, because I'm lazy  )

Code: Select all

21:10   MinardiFan   Pre-qualifying is just about to begin
21:16   Pasta   Wiizie, did the liveries work?
21:16   Wizzie   I'm about to test them
21:19   MinardiFan   Drivers that did not pre qualify are: Ruby, Leon Albertini, Guillaume Gauthier, Peter Senerson, Rhys Davies, Andraz Velikonja, Jason Hamilton and Merak Keznorski.
21:19   Wizzie   Davies? Again? He ain't gonna be too pleased about that :L
21:34   MinardiFan   Qualifying is over with Helena Bertinelli taking pole from Dargaan Zorzanov and samael Meerwick
21:34   MinardiFan   Race start coming very soon
21:35   MinardiFan   ...and it's GO! GO! GO!
21:36   Wizzie   Pasta, the Aeroracing cars work fine, by the way
21:36   Pasta   Ah, I thought there'd eb a few issues seen as I cant test them myself, but that works too!
21:37   Pasta   Any chance of a preview?
21:37   MinardiFan   Dinah Lance is the first driver to roll
21:37   Wizzie   I might have gotten distracted by Pau
21:38   Wizzie   Lemme get some pics of it
21:39   MinardiFan   Ricky Bobby sideswipes Gio van Dycke while upside down
21:39   Wizzie   Ah, it's been a while since Bobby did anything mind-numbingly stupid
21:40   MinardiFan   There's a 3 car pile up at the roundabout after Bill Phenett rolls in front of a few drivers
21:42   MinardiFan   Wayne Rosberg rolls at the last corner, and loses two places
21:43   MinardiFan   Meerwick takes the lead as Tom Douglas is the next victim of the roundabout
21:44   MinardiFan   ...there's now 3 Trabants stuck behind the barriers at the roundabout
21:44   Wizzie   DOUGLASFAILSLOL
21:44   MinardiFan   and Gio Van Dycke has a spectacular roll
21:45   MinardiFan   it wasn't his fault, Douglas was taken out by a rolling Njord Munk
21:45   Wizzie
21:45   Wizzie   I must say, I like the black wheels, Pasta
21:46   Wizzie   It adds a nice touch to a grid which mostly has aluminum-grey rims
21:47   Pasta   I didn't know you could paint the wheels to be honest P
21:47   Wizzie   Neither did anyone else :L
21:47   Wizzie   Myself and Lappy included
21:47   Pasta   But I do think that black wheels look better than white or grey - doesnt distract the eye from the livery

From a DNPQ to a win? That's the best way to bounce back.

Apologies for the double post, but here's something to consider:

I've been thinking of finishing the current season after the latest round at Rabaring, so new car/driver rules can be implemented without impacting on the standings. Most of the upcoming rounds will be shifted to the start of next season, so those tracks won't be missed out.

Here's a basic rundown of the planned changes:
  • One car per forum member - this gives more people a chance to have a driver/team take part in the series
  • Limit of 6 cars per manufacturer to give a more even mix of cars
  • New awards system, where the awards are voted on, rather than just picked by me
  • Grid limit of 35 (maximum), with the slowest car or two of each manufacturer knocked out in pre-qualifying (if applicable)
  • Possible new points system that includes points for qualifying
  • New forum thread - because this one's getting a bit cluttered

I'll put this up for a vote - the options are:
  • Yes, start the new season with the rule changes now
  • No, finish the current season under current rules
  • Don't care, as long as there's rolling Trabants

I vote for "Don't care, as long as there's rolling Trabants" on all but one point.

The only manufacturer that shouldn't have a car limit is Trabant. Every series needs more Trabants.

I vote for "Don't care, as long as there's rolling Trabants". But there's a couple of changes I'd make to the rules: you should continue giving out the awards yourself. By the looks of things this topic isn't very active (and I admit being partly at fault for that) so it's unlikely there would be enough voters. And of course I support there not being a limit on the amount of Trabants in the series.

By the way, Nurmovitsch will continue in the car into the foreseeable future, and would also want to know about where he sits in the the championship standings and with how many points. :P

I agree with this. I'm not affected by the upcoming new rules, I have only one driver in the series, and he's performing very well this year. How many races are left? If there are not much, I'd go with the first option.

There's seven races left, the next one of which can potentially cause fatalities (although I doubt these cars will reach such speeds).

I changed my vote as well.

Despite one of my drivers might be out of the game with the rules, I vote for don't care option

Don't care, as long as there's rolling Trabants

Being a long-time Trabant user, i fully support this idea. We should have a Trabant Cup, serving as 'division 2' (because let's face it, they are never going to get any decent results down)
The other problem is that everybody wants to run Skodas, Ladas ands Polskis, but the Dacias, Wartburgs and Moskvitch' have been very unpopular. We should promote running these more obscure cars.

I say that I don't care, as long as there's rolling Trabants.

Although at the end of the season, we should make a new thread.

What he said. In fact, I might just give Douglas a Trabant next year, to encourage his reoccurring DOUGLASFAILSLOL tendencies.

Wayne Rosberg, after getting drunk after the Rabaring race, repeatedly wrote:I'M GONNA WRECK IT!

I vote for "Don't care, as long as there's rolling Trabants" because I cannot decide. :|

Edit: While you at it, MF95, could you please use this revision of Wayne's livery, remove the trollface, and add Wreck It Ralph (yes, that movie) as one of his sponsors? (I tried doing the last one on my own but the resutls were horrible). :)

I disagree with the one car per user rule. I personally think it should be two cars per user

I think it should depend on the amount of cars entered. If we don't get 25 cars by a certain point in time, then we should allow two cars per user. And maybe we should have a entry limit, as well. At the max, 50. Anything above that is going to be ridiculous if people are going to be failing to qualify, unless someone wants to start a B-series.
