<@Ataxia> these people are making a mess of their crepe suzettes
I just wanted to throw a couple of indications on changes in how this year the series are run:
First affects Pre-Qualifying; I wanted to simulate better the conditions and pressure drivers had to face in Pre-Qualifying during the PreQ years so this year PreQ times are taken just from the Friday session of the Gp2 game I run for PreQ, instead the best of Friday and Saturday. Thought it would give an extra twist as in just one session a driver may not go out, may have a problem or slide off the track during his best lap (as happened with Groves in Bathurst), and all in all, it will get a better chance for the worse teams to pass Pre-Qualifying once in a while, and it gives more of the "lottery" sense real Pre-Q sessions always were.
Second affects the chance of raining: I´ve inmediately come a fan of how Flaschenpost runs some aspects of his series by calculating a probability then dice throwing, so I´ve ported this system to calculate Weather conditions for the races. So I take the chance of rain by the average of rainy days in that month of the year in the track we're racing at. For Bathurst is slightly over 6 days of rain a month in March, so I took a chance of 20% of rain per each of the Grand Prix days. So if dice is over 20 it won't rain that day and if it's under 20 it will. For Bathurst the number was under 20 for Friday and Saturday. Now, there's also a chance it won't rain during the session, so I give an "standard" 50% of chance it´ll rain during the session. Now, Friday was under 50 and Saturday over so it only rained on Friday. If a session finally happens to be under wet conditions, then the final calculation is 50% chance for Light Rain and 50% chance for a wetter condition, then dice throwing again to determine how wet the session will be.
Third is how I determine which game will be the one we use; as when you load Gp2 it always loads the same random seed at first, last year, appart from race one, I used to run the same number of games as the round we were running to determine the weekend we would be running (so, if we were going to run the Race 11, I ran 11 times a race weekend in Gp2, then the 11th would be "our game". To allow me more time, specially in the later stages of the season when I could spend more than 25 minutes to reach "our game" (yeah, running 15 race weekends in a row is tiring, even if you fast forward!), this year I´ve decided to throw a dice between 2 and 6 which will determine the number of weekends I run to reach our game.
Of course, you don´t need to know this but being transparent is fundamental and I know some of you actually aprecciate it.
Tread lightly in ARWS. Every decision might be your last.
Since that doesn't really give anybody an advantage, being transparent when you're running a series is pretty much one of the best things you can do to get interest. I've been transparent about the way I run my own series and even give some tips to the team owners from time to time. If an other team owner takes the hint first, then good for them. I personally believe that the more participants know about what they're taking part in and why they're good/hilariously bad, the less tension there will be about any kind of favouritism. That is, until kostas inevitably discovers the existance of my series and blows all that to smithereens

The whole weekend contained more air time for the team than their entire existence in 2014. They were in the headlines for good and bad reasons too.
First, the Katayama incident. "I didn't talk to Shinobu after her Tasman qualifying performance because I wanted to lure her to Revolution", says Shizuka. "I only wanted to cheer her up, without any other intention." However, it went from just a friendly meeting to a press war between the Sunshine driver, her team and the press. Katayama wanted to join the backmarkers, but the team and the council denied the move.
When this got settled, the pre-qualifying threw up a surprise result, as Revolution got through into qualifying proper. After this, the team was expected to not qualify, but they not only qualified, but the team owner did this by starting from 13th position.
The race was a different story, a dream almost coming true: the whole paddock bar Scuderia Alitalia was hoping to see Shizuka finishing in fifth position, but after his electronics slapped him off the top 5, team-mate Van Dycke finished in 9th place. DOTR was still Hagane's reward for making his team from not scoring a single point in preq to running in 5th in a race over the off-season.
Doubts are still above Van Dycke: her performance saved him from losing her seat now, but Marie Simon, the team's reserve driver is waiting on the sidelines. Also, Jesus Plaza is on the team's hit list too for the second seat this year: the deal between Revolution and Kamaha are just a signature away.

Sammy Jones furiously accused Aeroracing team boss Phoenix McAllister of intentionally trying to sabotage Rosco Vantini's race last night. The Italian, driving for Castrol Jones Racing this year, was involved in an incident with Aeroracing driver Pippa Mann in the early stages of the race that saw both cars retire. Jones has accused McAllister of attempting to ruin Vantini's race by taking the Italian out of what was at the time a strong position in the race.
"I'm absolutely livid" seethed a furious Jones to the press, "there's no doubt in my mind that Rosco was odds on for a decent points finish today, but was instead victim to a merciless attack intended to try and sabotage my team's race. I'm only glad he didn't try it with me because otherwise I would have given him a piece of my mind and paid him back for that broken nose I picked up at Silverstone in 2012. I have to say I feel sorry for Pippa in all of this. At the end of the day she's being manipulated by a crazy team boss that has lost all sight of the bigger picture, and now that his cars can actually qualify for a race, all he wants to do is get revenge for past events. I wouldn't be surprised if he gets one of his drivers to take out Rhys Davies at some point in the future. The guy has a loose screw somewhere, someone should really ban him from the paddock because it's going to end nastily one day."
Aside from the incident, Jones was upbeat on the performance of his team,
"We're delighted with the car itself, and had Rosco not got taken out, that would have been another double points finish undoubtedly. We're a bit shy of the pace of the MRT and DGN cars, but we have the reliability, and are looking good in the constructors' championship. MRT need to make the most of these good days, because it won't last all year, and when they mess up, we'll be waiting in the wings to capitalise and put them under pressure. I honestly cannot believe I'm second in the championship right now either. This is my best ever start to a F1RWRS season, and I feel better than ever in the car. At first I thought Rosco would leave me for dead in terms of results and pace, but it seems there's life in the old dog yet!"

Autosport wrote:MRT optimistic about title chances
MRT boss Daniel Melrose praised the team's efforts over the off-season to keep the team at the front end of the F1RWRS grid, despite Melrose himself having an incredibly unsettled off-season himself. While incumbent Phillippe Nicolas is yet to finish a race this year, former F1 champion Rhys Davies in the second car has won both of the opening races in Australia as the teams focus on the European season, becoming the first Australian to win at home since 2011 and the first to win the Australian Grand Prix since 2010. "The guys at our workshops in Munich and Cologne have done a fantastic job to produce a car and engine package that's both quick and reliable and full credit goes to them" exclaimed Melrose after the race at Bathurst. "Rhys has also driven the car brilliantly to be two from two for the year thus far and has already built up a handy lead in the championship as a result. Phillippe hasn't been quite on the pace so far but a few minor tweaks at the next race in San Marino should do the trick to help in our bid for the constructors title and possibly have a straight fight between our two guys for the drivers championship."
When asked about the saga at Sunshine Daihatsu, Melrose was highly critical of both parties, believing that their actions were out of self-interest and would only do harm to the team in the long run. "I for one rate Shinobu very highly as a driver and Sunshine would be losing a valuable asset if they tear up their contract with her. On the other hand, being teamed up with Mr Lon might have been the worst thing for her as she now has an ego almost as big as his and that can only be a bad thing when times get tough in a driver's career. She's got nothing to gain from threatening to walk from Sunshine and leaving to Revolution might be a mistake for her, although that's nothing against Hagane Shizuka and co as they've done a brilliant job themselves to turn the car into something that can make it into qualifying on a fairly regular basis and will give Mitchell, Dave and I at Simpson Motorsports something to think about."
Finally, when asked about the rumours that he may be about to move to Sunshine from the Monaco Grand Prix onwards, Melrose was relatively tight-lipped. "Right now, my focus is with Dave and his team and I personally told him that after pre-qualifying at Bathurst. However, he's also told me he has no problem with me moving to another team should the situation ever arise and I in turn have no problem with him resting me in place for a pay-driver if he needs the money."
