So do I. That's the charm of university, I guess. I'm beginning my degree this year, so I expect that date to be the end of this forum for me, at least until Christmas.

It has yet to stop me. It's only 10 to 15 minutes a day, if that's what you want to make of it.

I've planned to compagine my degree with having a life, but I'll do my best to find time and post here, if only a post or two.

Don't be daft, the first year is all about having a great time! Getting out in those pubs and clubs, meeting new people, getting seriously drunk, etc, etc. :)

And just so I don't feel outdone by goblin, mine start on the 4th October ;)

I hate College. My course is one year long. If I spend a whole year doing that, I'll inevitably fail :(

May I ask what degree are you doing (or going to begin)?

Shinji has closed up shop. Educational obligations...But I think talking about this is better than, say, swimming horses.

The first year of a university degree is great! If you're an student in England, its barely a step up from A Levels (the exams people take when they're 17-18) and whilst depending on your course there'll be coursework (essays, portfolios, the like) as well as exams normally in January and May/June, the rest of the time you're pretty much a free agent to do what the hell you like. Granted there is of course the lectures, and whilst I attended most of mine, some of the lecturers are awful so it wasn't worth turning up on some occasions. I presume all universities now provide online links to lecture material (i.e. powerpoint presentations used, links to websites, etc) so using them when you miss lectures is more than enough cover. This year after my summer exams I genuinely thought I'd failed the course, in some of my exams I wrote some utter rubbish and yet came out overall with a score of 65%, which is a 2:1, the second highest grade acheivable. And at my uni the first year's score doesn't even count towards the final grade of the degree!

In case people were wondering, I'm reading BA Geography so it's not just some fancy pancy media studies rubbish ;)

If I don't have a 100% attendance record they stop funding my course so I can no longer afford to go...
This is going to suck, no skipping pointless classes for me :(

Dude, that's awful. That's absolutely dreadful. And this is coming from a person who doesn't even skip one class per week. Sometimes, you just need that option; it's a shame it's not available to you.

Well, I'm in Spain; considering how education is rated, I may well find something like that...

Exactly the experience I had from 2001-2005, only I ended up with a 2:2 - if I studied properly, I guess I could have got a 2:1...
