20 years from now, fathers will be telling their children how the 2010 season was decided by Vitaly Petrov.

It seems that Red Bull have managed to trick Ferrari into making a mistake.

Had Alonso stayed out, his 4th place was completely safe. Webber wasn't a factor, even if he was faster, because he would get to the Rosberg-Petrov train. And then Alonso would be able to open a gap to safely rejoin in front of Rosberg, just as Button has done.

But it's very easy for me to say this... now. Probably Ferrari didn't expect the option tyres to last for this long.

Alonso can't tell Petrov to crash like he did to Piquet Jr! In Soviet Russia, Petrov holds up you!

You know, it's the kind of behaviour that's not welcomed here. No matter if it's directed against Alonso, Vettel, Hamilton or whoever.

In a way it seems almost a shame that the title should be decided on a strategy call. But on the other hand, you cannot deny that Vettel drove a superb race - you have to stand up and salute his speed. As I said up-thread, I wanted Webber to take the title, but had a feeling it would be Vettel's day, and so it proved.

Well done to Vettel. He's had his ups and downs this season, but he was on top when it mattered - and the first time he's ever led the world championship!

You can't blame Ferrari for reacting to Webber, but it just collapsed for them after that. Bad show from Alonso taking his frustrations out on Petrov, though.

That was probably the best race I didn't want to watch.
A bigger sigh of relief than in 2008.

As much as I dislike Vettel I discovered it paled in comparison to my dislike of Alonso as soon as the race started. I'd always liked Alonso when the season started, I'm not sure why I can't stand him anymore.

GENTLEMEN. WE ARE NOT HAVING A FLAME WAR IN HERE.

Failures to respect the appropriate code of conduct and good manners will be edited, warnings will be issued if necessary, and whatever else it takes to ensure the usual calm, proper, ordered discussion is maintained.
As mentioned above, there are plenty of places on the Internet where you can go and be infantile to your hearts' content.

Brilliant drive by Vettel and deserving World Champion. But Petrov really sealed Alonso's fate by keeping him behind. And Renault took revenge from him for leaving the team. Webber was very poor today. He could not stay close enough to pass Alonso, even when Alonso made mistake he was not there. And Massa has learnt how STR handles having spent whole race behind Algersauri. Kubica and Rosberg also drove good today. It was so surprising that in the end it was Schumacher's crash which cost Alonso the title.

Add me to those unimpressed with Alonso giving it to Petrov.

Petrov was perfectly entitled to do "the full Bernoldi". More power to him and Alguersuari.
