It seems to me that Williams, with this updated bumped themselves into Sauber territory, just ahead of the FI and the Toro Rossos (in this order). Thus judging from Rubens because the shepherd is really reject material...

No, he wouldn't. Barrichello > Hülkenberg. Deal with it. 8-)

At least Williams are looking more like Top 6 again, but they need a big score to catch up.

They won't be catching up with that bald headed Venezuelan driving around finishing down from where he qualifies everytime so far this year.

Just like when they were involved with Renault BTCC, or the Clio... or all the other car-projects they have been in...

I think that the Williams Clio car was more of a branding exercise than anything else (at least I think Williams had very little input into it), but the BTCC car was hardly insignificant (they were working on that in the mid to late 1990's, when they were still fairly competitive). Williams also worked on BMW's Le Mans Prototype (the V12 LM's and LMR's) in the late 1990's, producing the chassis and working on the aerodynamics for BMW - so working with manufacturers on other projects is not exactly unheard of.

I don't know how believable this is but either way it makes for interesting reading.

I think it is highly believable. Williams, if they want to survive, have to make profit these days. Their collaborations with Porsche and now Jaguar must be a step in that direction. And with the budget reduction agreement on place it is a good time to have a profit of F1 and other motosport related activities. Besides, going into stockmarket while having a company that only survives because of sponsorship money piling up losses is almost suicide.
