Re: F1RWRS -- 2015 Season
Having gone through all the posts again, I'd like to nominate Sammy Jones for an early ROTY award as, in the space of about 10 minutes, he's dropped from championship favourites to about 8th in the pecking order with nobody to blame but himself ![Laughing ](./images/smilies/icon_lol.gif)

I hope the market never operates like this ever again. It is a total farce. It isn't even first come first served. It's first come first whoever the server decides to accept posts from first.
I agree. But isn't it whoever emails Aerond first, rather than whoever post on here first? Otherwise I am screwed, being third or fourth to request the Jordan 191...Aerond wrote:I'd like to remind team owners that any upgrade operation must be done via email and that I will not atend any upgrade petition done through the forum

Oh crap. This is a terrible system then. I totally misunderstoood the system then.

He spent the entire off-season talking himself up as one.

Umm... you actually DID get the Peugeot engine. Each engine can supply two teams.

Not true. You got them. Engines have two contract slots and not one. No-one had A7s last year so there were two free slots. You got the second after Warren Hughes.

Actually, ArrowTech used them last year, but since Jeremy has said that his team is a continuation of Acuri, both slots are free anyway.

Re: F1RWRS -- 2015 Season
Corriere Dello Sport wrote:Lindsay: "Jones will never win anything"
Automercato reached its climax tonight, with team bosses from F1RWRS vying it out in the heated environment of the off-season marketplace. Some team bosses left their offices elated, some inconsolable, some furious, but Scuderia Alitalia team boss Alasdair Linday was merely content.
"This automercato? It has gone quite well. Not perfect, but well," he said to reporters on the doorstep of the team's factory. "I think you can say, we had the most successful mercato out of all the teams in economic terms. We were the only one to get above the market rate for our old equipment. That is crucial, it gave us a boost other teams didn't get."
"In terms of acquisition, we failed at our Plan A. Everything was communicated to the F1RWRS HQ at the same time, we have to have everything we do ratified by them, and the opening date for that was at 2300 CEST. So there is always a massive rush, and sometimes people can lose out. And this did happen to us, although we also had a very good Plan B, and this one we were able to execute successfully."
"The phone lines were jammed, it was pure luck if you could get through or not. It was total chaos, we were lucky to even manage our Plan B. And yes, we did have a Plan C, and at the time our Plan B was accepted, the third option was still available to us. But, I suppose things worked out alright in the end."
One surprise was the complete absence of two teams from the market operations. Gillet and Jones Racing were happy to take the night off and let everyone else scuffle over their plans for the 2015 season, and Lindsay thinks they have lost out as a result.
"It is hectic for a reason. You can get a massive leg-up in one swoop. No-one ever advanced forward by staying still. WIth that kind of attitude, Jones will never win anything," he claimed. "This guy is so arrogant, always talking about how brilliant a manager he is, but he is so focused on his ego, he thinks by doing nothing he is being brilliant. He is a complete fool, but really, I can't complain about that, it's an advantage to the rest of us that he thinks he is a mastermind while making stupid decisions like these. I believe that even with a perfect season, you can improve. You saw that with DGNgineering, they have dominated F1RWRS for the last two season and even they were involved in the automercato tonight. You can see they are always trying to find ways to improve their team even further, even when at the top, and that's why they are champions and Jones will never be."

Well, one can talk about cars all day long but in the end the driver is a key component and while Sammy Jones and Phillipe Nicolas are both very good, only Prospec has the Best In The World™. ![Laughing ](./images/smilies/icon_lol.gif)

Funny you should mention that actually because, with the rule change Aerond announced last week concerning the chassis's speed boost, the emphasis will move back towards the driver in the long run.

Re: F1RWRS -- 2015 Season
Just out of curiosity, I was browsing through the engine and chassis list on the page and I've noticed there are teams that have taken an engine whose base power is superior to the maximum power the chassis can handle. Did I miss out something there? Not that I'm feeling repentant about my choice of engine...
Re: F1RWRS -- 2015 Season
Well, that just means that their engine will be capped at whatever BHP their chassis can handle.

Have you done your maths? All I need to do is spend 550 credits, and I'm maxed out on engine power at 750bhp. You're starting off at 740 and the maximum you can ever reach is 780, yet with a greater inconsistency in the Brabham chassis, you'll achieve that less regularly than I will. Secondly, I'll have a useful amount of change to improve my already pretty good reliability which was evidenced last year (one of the most consistently finishing teams you'll find). I fail to see why you seem to be so confident, unless you've missed something, or I have!

Don't go to bed angry, you definitely have the 'pug lump' and combined with your chassis you probably have a better package than me.

You've missed many things. One, you missed the cryptic clue which I so handly pointed out earlier (which, for the record, was a 10bhp upgrade and 2000 reliability points, on top of the 3250 reliability point upgrade from last year as I kept the same chassis) which cancels out any potential pace advantage you have. Secondly, the chassis's consistency does NOT affect engine power in the slightest. It only affects driver consistency. Thirdly, the Brabham's speed rating is four points higher than the Minardi you're using, which means that my drivers get a boost of 400 performance points in both qualifying and race on any given weekend, which is made even greater as I know for a fact that Davies is one of the most upgraded drivers in the field. Finally, except for Aerond, I have the most experience with working with the performance files so I have an intimate knowledge of how the system works.
In short, you're not going to win the title this year

Thank you very much, my engine will be maxed out at 750hp too and just because of the chassis, with far less spending. I run a pay driver in The Stig and have a solid chassis, so if we apply that rule I don't see why Aeroracing can't make Pippa Mann a dual champion

Re: F1RWRS -- 2015 Season
The point is people, we have to bear in mind it is only a game after all. I do enjoy how seriously some people are taking it though!
And next season isn't anything like the foregone conclusion some people have been predicting.
Aerond may have bought one of, if not the best engine available, but his chassis means he'll only ever get 750bhp out of it, looking at Gillet, they're going to struggle limited to 680bhp, and Sunshine are limited to 730bhp. Similarly HRT will only manage 690bhp and Alitalia 700bhp.
I know engine power isn't everything, but it will certainly play a major part. On that basis ArrowTech are looking very handy but they're going to need to invest a fair bit in their engine to get the best out of it. They have an excellent chassis/engine package for the future though.

Re: F1RWRS -- 2015 Season
But I don't get the point. Why would Aerond, for instance, blow 1000 credits buying the Chrysler engine for it to have only 750hp when the base power for that engine is 770hp? Not that it's going to prevent me from sleeping tonight, but I am curious to know why.

Because he's generous I guess. Plus he made it clear he was going to wait until the frenzy had died down before making his call so he was always going to be compromised to an extent.

Re: F1RWRS -- 2015 Season
Mr.Alexander finally emerges!
Kingfisher Racing boss Mr.Alexander walked out of his office a short while ago, after spending most of the evening locked away, dealing with the recently-opened RWRS market. After one or two complications, he was happy to talk. "Information got crossed between several parties about the new engine we wanted. I was led to believe only one set was available, which Prospec collected. But it turns out there are two, and we got in by the skin of our teeth to claim them."
Mr.Alexander then showed us, through the window, of an approaching truck. "That has our new pair of Peugeot A7's in the back", he beamed. "We saved the money wisely, knowing something good was around the corner, and these showed up." Meanwhile, a handful of mechanics are putting the final touches on the ex-Tyrrell chassis' to enable an easy fit for the new engine. "The lads have been busy all day", explained Mr.Alexander. "They're going to make sure the measurements are correct and then go home. The engine fitting and first start-up takes place tomorrow afternoon. We all need a good rest first!".
"The situation surrounding the market was very complicated. Some bosses were contacting via e-mail, phone or video call. We chose the e-mail but (the RWRS market) struggled with the massive influx of calls and Internet hits in so little time. We wanted a new chassis before a new engine. But at least we got the engine. Delighted? No. Satisfied? Yes. Confident of the year ahead? Absolutely!"
And with that, Mr.Alexander finished his 15th cup of coffee for the day, and made his way to his car to go home.
And I've only flared up because I thought the massive influx of people prevented me from getting anything out of the market. As it turns out, I just about managed to get the Pug's. So I'm happy.

I feel DGN is going to mop the floor with MRT next year
Nah. The DGNgineering car will (ironically) be significantly more unreliable than the MRT, especially when my latest upgrades go through. Speaking of which, Rhys, I've just given you 150 credits to spend on Davies. Knock yourself out

I'll update the list on the wiki over the course of the morning
Remember DGNgineering keeps all the reliability updates bought during 2014

Mecha Grand Prix announcement
Current machine: Z861/DFZ
Current credits: 490
I'm selling the DFZ for Cr 175, with grand total of 665 credits. The engine will be replaced with 1990 Ford HB IV, costing 550 credits. That leaves me with 115 credits. Chassis will be unchanged.
So:
New machine: Z861/HB4
New credits: 115
![Smile :)](./images/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif)
---
On another hand, we still use same parameters when emailing our upgrades right? And that idea was unfortunately used too in RoLFS, but was quickly dropped after round one IIRC.![Confused :?](./images/smilies/icon_e_confused.gif)

AUDI SPORT ANNOUNCES SURPRISING ISUZU PARTNERSHIP FOR F1RWRS ENGINE DESIGN
In a move that was rather unexpected, Audi Sport has teamed up with Japanese maker Isuzu's sport division for the design of the brand new F1-3 engine to be used by Aeroracing Engineering on the back of their ARE1-1 chassis.
Team boss Phoenix McAllister said: "They [Isuzu and Audi] have already been working on the engine, which is already finished and ready to be tested on the back of our car. The dyno tests have showed this engine is noticeably more powerful than the previous designs, which lacked low and high-rev power and compromised the performance gravely. Both parts have done an amazing job and we're mightily excited to begin the season".
2012 F1RWRS champion and star signing Pippa Mann has been very complementary of the efforts: "The engine looks very good and I'm sure the chassis will work the part, so seems we're going to have a very promising package on our hands".
Aeroracing is hopeful on improving on their two lacklustre seasons previous (when the team was still Team Phoenix) and challenge for regular points and the odd podium if the opportunity presents itself.

Re: F1RWRS -- 2015 Season
Now that things have settled down, Foxdale would like to announce that, with their failed attempt to change their chassis to the Jordan 191, there will be no change in their chassis or engine combination, but will upgrade their existing package tomorrow.

Because he's generous I guess. Plus he made it clear he was going to wait until the frenzy had died down before making his call so he was always going to be compromised to an extent.
Well, my first aim was to get the Ford Zetec-R, but I was on a 3G connection when the market opened and then my message took longer to arrive than Wizzie´s, so I decided to go for the Chrysler instead. 750 Bhp, with the chance on investing on Mark Dagnall´s race pace should be enough; there will be chances for a better chassis in the future; and with money coming through Mignolet during the season I can upgrade the reliability if needed.
