Oh, right!
So we're still alive thanks to Alex Wurz!

Or Alex tried to end the world and we were saved by HWNSNBM? :o

The world isn't scheduled to end until 20:12. But it should already be past that time in Australia, and I haven't seen any Aussie members post for a few hours. I think we're all about to die! :?

No, we're still here... the 11:11pm is wrong as well since it's now 11:20pm here.

kostas, don't worry. It's already past 20:12 in Singapore, and trust me,the only two signs that look abnormal in Singapore is that it did not rain today and that my Christmas lights are freaking out. So,unless Christmas lights can predict doomsday, there's not one sign that the world will end.

Also, it's already 1:20 am in New Zealand, December 22nd, and there are no reports of the world ending. WE'RE SAVED

All of these previous predictions are false, if Nostradamus is to be believed, the end will come when Gangnam Style reaches 1 billion hits on YouTube...

"Nostradamus, 1503"

Nostradamus was born in 1503, so you can see why I have my doubts...

So...tomorrow morning then?

As of this morning it has 998,976,706 hits...

The only problem in this theory is that that poem is fake-Nostradamus. ;)

As of the time of writing this, Gangnam Style has over 1 billion views, so we're straight on course for the Apocalypse to happen at 20:12, 21:21 or 10:49 or whenever. Of course, it depends on the time zone you are in...

Yeah, he never actually said that...

Although according to the writers behind QI, he is at least supposed to be responsible for some of the best surviving recipes for jam, particularly cherry jam - so not everything he wrote was useless.

As a curious aside, there was an interesting comment in The Times that suggested why theories and predictions about apocalypses might be so prevalent (they estimated that there had been about 180 odd widespread predictions of apocalypses in the course of recorded human history).
There is a curious suggestion that, since predictions of apocalypses often lead to smaller communities acting in a co-operative manner, driven by our panic response, in order to increase their chances of survival, that creates an anthropological incentive for people to believe in predictions of major disasters and prepare accordingly. It's a peculiar suggestion, but one that does seem to have a certain amount of logic to it...

Perhaps he just...CONSERVED his genius for jam-making.

I think that governments around the world missed a trick. They could have stirred this up far more, suggesting people panic-buy things to save themselves. Then they tax stuff like Fray Bentos pies, Super Noodles and all other sorts of "survival foods" to high-heaven which would partially boost the economy. Or is that too unethical?

Yep, that's my way of looking at it. There are lots of songs out there that are far worse and would have been an even worse choice to make 1 billion first.

If Gangnam Style makes you want to give up on life, I'd hate to hear what would happen if you heard "Beauty and a Beat" by Justin Beiber and Nicki Minaj... I walked out of a store almost shaking my head in disgust the other day when I'd heard it.

I don't dislike Nicki Minaj voice (as I dislike instead Bieber's one), but I think that she looks ridicolous dressed as a Barbie. At least Psy's video is funny. :)

That "song" is absolutely terrible, I hate it too. Gangnam Style was funny for a couple of days but now it is overused and annoying

If there was any justice in this world, the most-viewed pop videos on Youtube would be this, and this, instead of Bieber, Minaj and the like. Those two videos are the two best British pop songs of the last 10 years, in my controversial opinion.
