Why would a driver supported by Ferrari for two seasons, and about to be given a permanent drive with on a generous salary go anywhere? Surely it will be 1-90 Ferrari and 91-100 for all the other random teams
Because McLaren have had the better car for the last two years and are offering the same salary? Although, that's only if Pryce and Hunt lose their minds and go to Shadow, but if Nannini-gate taught me one thing, its that you should always have a backup just in case...
If Nannini-gate taught me one thing, it's that loyalty doesn't exist and drivers are willing to stab you in the back for what is, in fairness, a sideways move.
In fairness, the Flaschenpost system is basically just random chance with some weighting. There's always some chance you'll get completely shafted.

We are willing to enter two cars full time if two of these drivers can come up with 500K each.
I'll just put the Boro car for 30 000 per race, as no one would bring half a million for a full season drive, not even Nakajima. Would that be ok for you?
And I'm still waiting for ATS, Surtees and Merzario. Deadline is Sunday.

30K a race for 16 races works out to 480k. Just saying...

I can make it 31 250 per race, then it's exactly 500k.

As we will only run one car, only one of these drivers will get the contract. In order of preference: Patrick Depallier Rene Arnoux Jean-Pierre Jabouille
And, more realistically: Henri Pescarolo Didier Pironi Jean-Pierre Jarier Jacques Laffite Michel Leclere Patrick Tambay
So, basically, every French driver who competed in 1977....
Following Jabouille and Jarier's good results in Canada, Martini would like to revise the order of our list to reflect championship standings. Our order is now, therefore: Patrick Depallier Jean-Pierre Jabouille Rene Arnoux Jean-Pierre Jarier Henri Pescarolo Didier Pironi Jacques Laffite Michel Leclere Patrick Tambay

You're a bit late to the show, all the new teams were taken up a few weeks ago. This series roughly follows real life, so new teams appear and old ones close within a year or two of what actually happened. The only think I can think of is trying to pressure pi314159 into letting Kauhsen in a year early, which is plausible given they were doing full campaigns in European F2 in '76 and '77. Althought you'd get a tiny budget and more than likely end up failing to pre-qualify.

The problem with Kauhsen is that This already changed his team entry to Willi Kauhsen Racing Team in 1978, still running Kojimas. But I can think of letting Rebaque enter with their own car for 1978.

Don't worry too much about it; however, I'd like to note my interest so I'll keep an eye to see if any team owner leaves a team or if not I'll wait to 1979. No rush!
Tread lightly in ARWS. Every decision might be your last.

Well, Willy Kauhsen did try to take over Kojima in reality. I could give away Kauhsen if somebody wants to run it, as they also tested intensively in 1978. If the Japanese GP stays, it would also make sense for Kojima to stay. It could perhaps evolve into Spirit-Honda one day, if we ever get there.
I'm still waiting for ATS (managed by FMecha) and Merzario (managed by Matt121). I'd really like to do the first round of driver contracts tomorrow afternoon, so the deadline for submissions is 16:00 CET.

Tom Pryce: The current drivers' champion has a contract for two years offered by McLaren, for 500k per year. Alternatively, he has the offer to join Shadow for 600k.
1-95 Continues with McLaren 96-100 Goes to Shadow
It's 17! As everyone expected, Pryce re-signs with McLaren to defend his title
James Hunt: Has the same offer as Pryce for McLaren, and a 450k offer from Shadow 1-95 Stays with McLaren 96-100 Goes to Shadow
It's 42! Hunt stays with McLaren
Both McLaren seats are filled now. So everyone else who hoped to get a McLaren drive has to look somewhere else now.
pasta_maldonado wrote:The stewards have recommended that Alan Jones learns to drive.
Hasemi, Henton and Hoshino re-sign with Kojima, as they have no other options.
Same goes for Geoff Brabham, who signs for Fittipaldi.

Ricardo Zunino
1-25 can't bring enough money 26-75 brings money for one race 76-90 brings money for two races 91-100 brings money for three races
95! Somehow Zunino gets the 97 500 which he needs for three races for Boro
Kunimitsu Takahashi 1-25 doesn't find enough money 26-75 finds sponsors for one race 76-90 finds sponsors for two races 91-100 gets enogh money together for three races
62, Takahshi gets enough money for one race in the Boro
Albert Poon 1-40 doesn't find enough sponsors 41-80 sponsors for one race 81-100 sponsors for two races
31, bad luck for Poon
Piero Necchi 1-30 no sponsors found 31-75 sponsors for one race 76-95 sponsors for two races 96-100 three races
59, enough money for one race for Necchi
Piercarlo Ghinzani 1-20 no sponsors 21-40 one race 41-60 two races 61-75 three races 75-85 four races 86-95 five races 96-100 six races
98! Ghinzani brings a large sponsorship package with is enough for six races.
Satoru Nakajima: (same numbers as Ghinzani): 45 Nakajima funds two races for Boro
Gianfranco Brancatelli (same numbers as Zunino) 67, one race for Brancatelli
Beppe Gabbiani (numbers as Zunino) 74, one race for Gabbiani
Hans Royer (numbers as Poon) 68, one race for Royer
Takao Wada (numers as Zunino) 4, no money for Wada
Jiro Yoneyama (numbers as Necchi) 53, one race for Yoneyama
Harald Ertl signs for Apollon, having no other options.
