RAUL SOUTO MAIOR TO MISS 2016 F2RWRS SEASON; DRIVER DIAGNOSED WITH LEUKAEMIA
After Raul Souto Maior's shocking times at the first preseason test session of the year, the Brazilian driver has let the cat out of the bag: he's been diagnosed with leukaemia back in Sao Paulo.
As it turns out, the Brazilian driver hoped he could at least do some of the season before the illness began to take its toll and wait until that moment to tell Aeroracing Engineering, his current team, about his health issues. But the paulistan driver began to feel unwell already and that has had an impact on his on-track performance.
The situation has been compounded by the fact Marcel Agyemang-Badu and his manager, Alessandro Linari, who is the head of Il Barone Rampante, have voiced their displeasure over Souto Maior's poor performances, fearing the team, who have to take part in Prequalifying at the start of the season, might not make the cut because of that.
Phoenix McAllister, ARE's team principal, has stated that "due to the fact this has come up with such short notice and with preseason already underway, and seeing we have no drivers from our roster that could fit in right now, we'll need to make the seat available for a myriad of candidates.
"The chosen driver will have to be someone with good results at other categories and who can perform competitively in both qualifying and races".
Autosport wrote:Jones: "Aeroracing no more than Alitalia's 'B' team"
Sammy Jones has tonight labelled former racing rival Phoenix McAllister's Aeroracing Engineering team as a "sham", following the Spaniard's announcement that Brazilian driver Raul Sauto Maior has been diagnosed with leukaemia and has thus been forced to withdraw from the upcoming F2RWRS season.
"Sauto Maior is right as rain. This bollocks about leukaemia is just that. Bollocks." revealed Sammy to reporters as he spoke about his team's performance at the recent F2RWRS test at Laguna Seca.
Speaking from his Los Angles hotel room, Sammy added,
"It's obvious what's going on. Linari has realised he's dumped Marcel [Agyemang-Badu] in the shite at a team which counts lucky charms and crystal balls as integral to its operation. McAllister wanted a top driver, jumped into bed with Linari to get the Lancia engines and Marcel in the same deal, and is now being forced to dump the only driver he's been able to convince to stay on at the team so that Marcel has any hope of actually making it onto the grid. Aeroracing are little more than Alitalia's 'B' team, and McAllister is bending over so much for Linari these days that I'll be surprised if he ever walks again. It's a bloody disgrace, and to be honest I find it quite sad that McAllister, who was once proud enough to defend his drivers by breaking other team bosses' noses, has fallen to this level. He ought to just pack it all in and sell up to Linari instead of this embarrassing charade where perfectly good drivers are being dumped over pathetic, thinly veiled excuses."
As for his own team's fortunes, Jones had this to say,
"Rueckert is the main man for us this year. He had a good end to last season, and I think with the right circumstances and a bit more time in the car with the new engine, we could definitely be going places. Giles is there to get more seat time and progress slowly. There's no pressure on him for the time being, I just want him to get out there, enjoy his driving and get confident in the car. The fact remains that the series as a whole is a joke. Eight of the ten fastest cars in both qualifying and race simulations were powered by either Lancia or BMW engines. The fact that there's only us running Fords and the factory Aston team using their engines says what you need to know about the so-called engine parity in this series. It's a complete farce. I remain absolutely convinced I did the right thing getting Terry [Hawkin] out of this career-ending mess and into a series where he can actually showcase his abilities. I just hope for Johannes and Giles' sakes that we can get some decent results over the year."
Well, i guess i'll have to hope 1) for race tracks where nobody can overtake Lamberigts, who scored yet another pole or 2) Van Nieuwenhuijyzen actually starts performing!
Autosport wrote:Sobczyk:McAllister is in the team at the moment, but will have to prove that he deserves to be in the team"
Dofasco Racing team owner Grzegosz Sobczyk , referred to the rumors according to which referred to the rumors according to which the team Dofasco Racing would replace Judd McAllister(Phoenix McAllister son) and in its place would hire Marcel Agyemang-Badu(RoLFS Champion), however Grzegosz Sobczyk denied these rumors and said that McAllister is a Dofasco driver, but will have to prove that he deserves
"At the moment, no changes in the line-up of drivers will not, because it would be silly to change the line-up before the start of the season, when it comes to Judd that hired him not because of the name, yes surname McAllister commits to something but does not change the fact Judd that if he wants to keep the job he will have to prove that he deserves to be in Dofasco"
Phoenix McAllister, Aeroracing Engineering's team principal, has reacted to Sammy Jones' polemical declarations after Raul Souto Maior stepped down from his position as driver before the start of the season after revealing he was diagnosed with leukaemia saying the Jones Racing manager "has gone from bad to worse".
"The guy just doesn't know what else can do to keep making headlines so he has taken the ultimate action and stooped down as lowly as questioning the illness of my driver and telling I was just elaborating the story to justify his departure and please Alessandro Linari's requests.
"The deal with Linari and Lancia, which included giving a seat to Marcel Agyemang-Badu, is to ensure my team was going to be more competitive than last season, and considering F2RWRS operates on an engine freeze to keep costs from escalating, it had to be done because the Audi engine was not good enough and Lancia was the reference.
"What Jones has done is totally outrageous, another thing that proves once and for all this dude is as mentally stable as Ed Gein. I am suing him for slandering and Raul is going to do likewise. This is unacceptable".
It is still unknown who will replace the Brazilian driver at Aeroracing.
I have a memory of me volunteering to do a Dofasco...is one needed?

Wizzie, the Dofasco is here...it uses the car2 part but if you're after a full .tga of the #27 I can either quickly throw it your way, or you can just change the numbers.

Should be fine but just chuck in a full .tga for car 27 as well, if that isn't too much hassle. Gives me more options about which team takes which slot when I do all the pre-Q reshuffles throughout the year.

I still need liveries for Jones, Red Bull WRT, Simpson, Beirao and Falik Arrows. While the latter two aren't especially critical as I can just use last year's livery with new numbers, I need the former three. Otherwise I won't be too happy, and I will get the UN to write you a letter telling you how unhappy I am about it.

I believe Wizzie is in charge of this Championship so whatever happens to Kingfisher will be in his hands. I just ask that Martin van der Maeyede gets a seat in F1RWRS next season because that was the plan to promote him to the F1 Kingfisher seat. I think I owe it to Pasta to kind've honour that. Good luck to everyone though, was looking like a Tight season.

Anyway, we have discussed this issue at length on the chat, and it has been agreed that Aixata will take over the slot for this year, on the basis that Maeyede keeps his seat for the 2016 season.

It gives me no pleasure that this is the way I've entered, but yes, Fusion Motorsports will be returning to RWRS competitions and will keep Martin van der Maeyede.
Valsattis will be given a few IFRC races at Nebula, so I will be looking for a new second driver.

Well, it's been a weird few days for us here. Having just finished our renovations to the Fusion Motorsports Engineering Centre, we were offered the chance to come into F2RWRS after Kingfisher were forced to withdraw due to unforeseen and saddening circumstances. Although we didn't want to come in like this, it was important that we put the team together and ensure we're in the best possible position to compete in 2016, despite coming in at this late stage.
We hired Martin van der Maeyede as per the Kingfisher team's wishes, and we think Martin is a top driver with the world at his feet. He scored his first F2RWRS points late on last season, and we hope to give him the right equipment as we look to help him establish himself as one of the top racers in this league. The second driver was harder to come across, and we had various names. We considered using an Astro Racing Star™, but with all of their programs signed up this year we felt it would be detrimental for them to double-duty. We tried to persuade Dorien Lamberigts to jump across from IFRC, but that was to no avail. However, when a certain Mr. Melrose came to us offering a driver, we knew we were going to pick up a top driver. He's been in this league before, he's won it, and now he's back to repair the damage F1RWRS did. So, we're delighted to introduce Mitchell Macklin to the team.
We think our package will let us challenge for honours this year, and we firmly believe we have one of the strongest lineups in this league.
Disclaimer: If AdrianSutil wishes to bring Kingfisher back to F2 in the future, then I'll gladly move Fusion to one side.

Luke Knight: It's been a frantic couple of weeks for us and for the racing world. We've gone through some significant changes here at the Group. The formal announcement of new Group shareholder John Forrest was released last week, and he's here tonight!
John Forrest: It's a fantastic time for us here at the Group. We've got some amazing new sponsors on board, such as British Telecom and Standard Chartered Bank. With these two fantastic groups of people behind us the organisation can go from strength to strength.
Luke Knight: Things at the Group may be going from strength to strength, but let's spare a thought for those who are going through harder times. Esteemed paddock member and owner of the Kingfisher Racing team Ashley 'Alexander' Lilly has been taken seriously ill. Ashley is a respected member of the community and a close friend of mine, and we at the Group hope he recovers soon.
John Forrest: Driving for us this year in F2RWRS is one of our strongest lineups yet. I honestly feel this line-up will allow us to move swiftly up the grid to compete for points; points are our target and always have been.
Luke Knight: One of our own, Plus One Management driver Martyn Rietacher, joins us after a stellar debut year in Rejects of LFS. I've seen from his focused and delivered efforts, along with sheer speed, that he is capable of great things in F2RWRS and beyond.
John Forrest: Fresh from a superb year in F3RWRS, Eric Swerts will return to F2RWRS this year to partner Martyn. Eric is an experienced hand that I beleive will give us the edge over our Pre-Qualifying competitors.
Luke Knight: We're up against some talented and professional outfits in Pre-Qualifying, but we feel we can beat the likes of Fusion and Aeroracing. And here is the machine that will lead us to success:
Martin van der Maeyede wrote:It was a very good qualifying for us, for sure. The car felt good, and I found a bit of clean air to get a lap in. The car was a thrill to drive in these conditions, you could push and be certain it wouldnt tip you into the barriers. As for the race tomorrow, the Alitalias and Astons will be quick, especially if it dries up, bt I'm confident we can get some points on the board tomorrow.
The RWRS paddock was greeted with glorious Australian sunshine on Thursday as the F2RWRS pre-qualifying session of the season got underway. Like last season, two teams would make it into qualifying proper, but with the field still closing up, and with an extra team to deal with, getting into qualifying will prove more difficult than ever. After much chopping and changing throughout the session, F1RWRS refugee Mitchell Macklin ended up on top ahead of Marcel Agyemang-Badu and Martyn Rietacher. Macklin's fastest time was enough to get Fusion into qualifying in their first event since taking over the Kingfisher F2RWRS operation, but the battle for the second spot was incredibly tight, as just four hundreths of a second separated Aeroracing, Red Bull WRT and Dofasco, with McAllister's mob winning out.

Qualifying
In contrast to the previous day, Friday morning started off cold, wet and miserable as the F2RWRS teams got ready for qualifying. While the track started off wet after a wild F1RWRS pre-qualifying session, no further rain was expected on the horizon which left many teams in the quandary of when to do their runs. As it turned out, while the track started drying out later than expected, it did so at an alarmingly fast rate, catching many people out right at the end, including the likes of pre-season heavyweights Dan Greenlaw and Mitchell Macklin. Wouter Lamberigts had no such problems however, as he romped away to yet another pole position ahead of Martin van der Maeyede, Marcel Agyemang-Badu, Jean-Vincent Albertini and Jordan Davies. Yuka Katayama meanwhile earned the first penalty of the season by blocking Johannes Rueckert as she exited the pits, ruining the German's final hotlap when conditions were at their best.
