New 2011 team(s)

Does anyone know who have Applied to join for 13th spot next year.

I know USF1, Prodrive, Lola, Team Superfund have decided not too so will there be a 13th team next season.

As far as I know, Durango has confirmed their plans of entering F1. Epsilon Euskadi (or whatever they're called) have announced that they most likely will enter soon, just like Team F1rejects.com. And if Stefan GP has something to work with, they will possibly try to get in F1 this time around

Other teams that applied for 2010 & fell by the wayside might have another go. Ie March & someone using the Brabham name, Stefan may be in with a shout but will they still have Toyota help? There was also an entry from something called Team Superfund (!?). USF1 presumably is a complete non-starter? Cannot in truth see many teams joining in the foreseeable, bearing in mind the difficulties the new teams had this year & Dave Richards' comments yesterday. In fact I gloomily expect teams to leave rather than join.

So far only Durango and Epsilon Euskadi have lodged an entry.

The following have said no

Formtech (Brabham)
Lola
Prodrive
Team Superfund
USF1 (gave up and went bust)
RML (would only come in if there was a budget cap)

No word on Stefan yet or any of the other teams that applied for this year.

Formtech didn't even have the rights to the Brabham name did they? I seem to remember the Brabham family were going to seek legal advice if the team was given an entry, so it's hardly surprising they're not entering. We all know about Lola and Prodrive, and Superfund were they related to the murky Formula Superfund fiasco a while back? Again, hardly F1 team material in my book. Did RML even lodge an entry last year?

Looks likely that we could have Spanish team number 2 on the grid next year. The Whole Spanish Press will be delighted!

No. Budget. Cap.

The last word (well, 3 words) on the failure of the "new teams" initiative.

well, 'euskadi' stands for the part of spain that nobody counts as a part of spain (basque) so the whole spanish press will probably declare a media war between the real spaniards (campos hormones) and the basque's

Imagine the scandal if Euskadi beat Hispania. Or if both of them beat Alonso ...

Even worse, I see Epsilon hiring ETA members to boycott any team of its dislike (likely HRT)...

Is there actually any Basque racing drivers? Of the current F1 drivers, Alonso is from Asturias, de la Rosa and Alguersuari are Catalan. In motor racing motorcycle racer Efren Vazquez is one.

Of the older drivers and some notable recent names in lower formulae
Adrian Campos - Valencia
Dani Clos - Catalonia
Borja Garcia - Castilla y Leon
Marc&Jordi Gene - Catalonia
Sergio Hernandez - Alicante
Marcos Martinez - Madrid
Luis Perez Sala - Catalonia
Felix Porteiro - Valencia
Oriol Servia - Catalonia
Adrian Valles - Alicante
Javier Villa - Asturias
Emilio de Villota (+Jr.) - Madrid

Their entry became part of the Lotus entry didn't it? If I remember rightly it was they who originally wanted to use the Lotus name, got turned down by the FIA, then Tony Fernandes moved in with half of Malaysia, and suddenly they're given the slot vacated by the demise of the BMW-Sauber works entry.

Sassetti's second attempt to F1 :D
Sassetti Corse F1
Car: SC2011. In other words, the remains of Super Aguri bought from Formtech, assembled on Sassetti's/one of his drivers'/one of his mechanics' backyard, with Toyota parts fitted with... erm... brute force.
Engine: Cosworth CA2011 or - even better - some old Arrows engines modified to meet the 2010 regulations.
Drivers: some very, very young and inexperienced drivers, like... hm, just find some in DriverDB :P

How about Plamen Kralev and Ajith Kumar? (See RejectWatch 2010 thread in the Delatraz Forum if you don't get the references.)

WTF?

"Nobody" counts Euskadi as a part of Spain? I guess that the independentists are explaining their case abroad better than the unionists, then. Because there's by no means a clear majority of independentist people in Euskadi. In fact, right now there's a unionist majority in the Basque Parliament (although, admitedly, that's because a few independentist parties are banned right now, not because they are independentist but because they openly support and even finance ETA's terrorist activities).

But I can tell you that the whole Spanish press would't declare any kind of "war". In fact most of the people here were disappointed when Epsilon Euskadi didn't get a place on the grid last year, and some even thought that they deserved it way more than Campos did.

i'm not saying the basque people are anti spain, but spain is relatively anti-basque...
i'm not saying there is hate, it's just people are thinking 'they're different' and there is actually nothing wrong with that, or is it?
i'm not totally a 'noob' about spain, my sister lives in catalunya (she'll get back to belgium soon but anyway) but of course i don't know everything.
i'm sorry if i offended you, you have to understand that the 'whole spanish press' is some f1rejects inside joke and you don't have to take it seriously, it's never our intention to offend someone.
i'm also sorry if it offends anyone that all my sentences start with 'i'm' :D

I don't think it is. I think it's like the divide between Northern Ireland and the Republic, except it's not official.

Spain is not anti-Basque. To be honest, many people doesn't give a toss.
BlindCaveSalamander wrote:Oh, so it's like England, Scotland, and Wales, then?

Sort of, but only Catalans, Basques and a minority of other Spaniards care about.

it'l be more like flanders and wallonia in belgium, totally different people, but the reality is that most people don't give a damn about it, belgium is basically just a bunch of people that don't fit in either holland, france, germany or well... luxemburg
except for some politicians who think splitting the country would solve everything, truth is it would make it even worse. I guess it's a bit the same in many countries.

But still good enough to make jokes about 'the others' :D

Perhaps we could consider basque to spain as what greenland is to denmark?

Hell, i want a national greenlandic team!

Forget about Sefan, he'll wait until the last minute until something goes wrong for someone and jump on to get some great publicity.

Lets face it, he did the same as USF1 (ok he actually hired some cars), but neither was going to race. Otherwise they be on the queue for next year. Not even worthy of being a Reject

I think that following the USF1 debacle the FIA will move the goalposts for the selection criteria of new teams, and it's not inconceivable that no-one will get the 13th spot.

They do realise that if they give the spot to a team like durango, that nobody will take formula one racing serious anymore. So if there isn't a decent team, there will be no decent team.

Yet anyway i'd still love to have a team like durango. We also need yet another Enrique Scalabroni project!

If he have a reject team, we need something that can survive at least half the season. Having a Lola again is simply not funny enough.
