Where now for the Hulk?

There aren't many suitable spots left I could seem Hulkenberg going to now - I think he's left it a bit late to suddenly put himself on the market, especially after we all expected him to stay at Williams. One place I could see him going to is Lotus, I'm sure they'd be happy to have a young star on the rise with them, and I think he'd be good alongside Kovalainen. Alternatively, if Schumacher suddenly has second thoughts after yesteray's accident, he could go to Mercedes as someone has already suggested in another thread.

Very disappointing. That pole was lucky but it was by no means a fluke. He definitely has talent and it's a shame for him, for F1 and for Williams that they can't keep him. So it looks like Maldonado-Barrichello for 2011, which doesn't inspire to say the least. Get out of this rut Frank!

Its such a pity that a team like Williams have come to this.

They had their best line-up in quite a few years in 2010, and now they've pulled them apart.

As for Hulkenberg, I think his best option might be a year of testing at Mercedes before replacing Schumacher in 2011, rather than going round at the back with a HRT or Virgin.

Couldn't care less where Hulkenberg is going to, but I wonder what's going to happen in Williams. They need two consistently scoring drivers, not another KazNak. Sure, Hulkenberg disapointed (I though he'd consistently thrash Barrichello after finding his bearings, around Spain or so), but he is on the way up. I really do think he's got something better lined up somewhere, that someone made him an offer he can't refuse after Brazil. If Williams gets stuck with a weak rookie alongside Barrichello, I fear it might be the beginning of the end.

if I was a betting man I'd be putting some money on Maldonado being RotY in 2011

It's actually the F1RWRS and stands for the Formula 1 Rejects World Race Series, a make believe championship run by Masked Lapwing involving many of us as drivers and also team owners

Kubica showed passing is actually possible in Abu D as well..

It's not a matter of being possible or not, but of having top speed or not having it.

There's such a long straight at Abu Dhabi that they are hitting the limiter way before the end. If you are behind and your car's top speed is better than the guy in front, you're lucky (see Kubica vs. Kobayashi). If it's not, you're screwed (see Alonso vs. Petrov and Hamilton vs. Kubica).

Well, if they're hitting the limiter, perhaps they should've set up the ratios longer. Maybe that's why Alonso and Hamilton couldn't pass the Renaults, they didn't anticipate hitting slower traffic unless they were a lap or more down, while the Renaults anticipated more of a fight in the upper midfield.

Sad news indeed. Maybe things would have looked different if he had scored a Top 6 from his pole position in Brazil?
As it stands, he's probably the only driver to be eligible for a profile on this site to ever have scored a Pole Position, isn't he?

That's quite a feat, but I wish he'd get the chance to unrejectify himself.

As for his successor: I have no idea on how good a driver Reverend Maldonado actually is, but winning GP2 surely is a ticket to F1 these days. Coming 2nd is also a good chance on a seat, as Sergio Perez's Sauber drive shows. Hülk's case demonstrates, however, that no one knows how long this ticket will last. And it's not yet known whether Petrov can continue at GenII Capital Racing.

But Giedo van der Garde? His management's antics were very crude a few years back when it came to being the Super Aguri 3rd driver one day and a test driver for Spyker the next. Will his cheque be cleared this time?

Im not shedding too many tears. Hes not been bad, but hes not been good either. Just average. We have only just got rid of one Fisichella, we dont need another!

Id say give Chandok a chance if anything. If theres nothing promising in the lower series (I have no idea there, so if there is someone then please correct me) then you could do worse. Chandok was consistant and I get the feeling he would perform as he sees being in F1 as something you have to work for, not a given right. Or at least, he would be commited

Ok so , why is everyone knocking the chances of "there's no one faster than" Pastor Maldonado before he's even had a chance to breathe F1 Air yet?

That's pretty beefy but it's pretty much towards the rumour end of the spectrum - uncited sources within Ferrari, everyone else just seems to be re-reporting the La Stampa original.

Well Chandhok is a nice guy and evrything, but isn't particulaly quick. to be fair there are quicker drivers around that are also out of a drive.

Well Chandhok is a nice guy and evrything, but isn't particulaly quick. to be fair there are quicker drivers around that are also out of a drive.

Unfortunetly there are no teams out there that have balls to hire fast rookies.
In fact, Sergio Perez is the only driver in the Young Driver's test that has a F1 drive within the next year or so.

No, actually Buemi and Bourdais were teammates at the start of 2009 before Bourdais was kicked out in favour of the Alguersaurus.

The Hulk isnt a bad driver, williams have lost many sponsors and need a pay driver (which isnt really fair as many pay drivers dont have skill). He could do a year of being a test driver or try a smaller team like virgin

Oh yeah, I am more awake now. That was the time when the Red Bull/Toro Rosso stable had three Sebs and a Mark. Might Mark have been more favoured this year if he was Sebastian Webber?
