Do you miss Robert Kubica
Do you miss Robert Kubica
Well it's now 8 months ago when he almost killed himself, he just had a succesfullu ellbow operation.
So probably he will be back in 2034. But do you miss him in the formula 1 ?
I actually don't mis him that much.
He's a good driver but dunno probably it's because i meet almost every day polish people over here that come to puck up their pallets and don't speak english.
Yes that's what i miss about Kubica his sweet English Polandish accent, and ofcourse his great driving style.

Yes. And I'm not that sure that he will be able to come back... It will be a big achievement if he manages to drive a racing car again. Driving a F1 car at competitive with all these buttons would be nothing short of a miracle (figuratively speaking, sure; it would be down to a great work of the doctors and a big effort from Robert).

Yes. Yes, I do miss him, but that shouldn't be much of a surprise coming from me.
I'm sure he'll do his best to come back, and if anyone can bounce back from a crash like that it'd be Robert - after all, he did win his very first F3 race with screws in his arm having broken it in a road traffic accident, and had his (at the time) best qualifying session in France after THAT crash in Canada. Still, it would be quite a feat to come back and be as competitive as he was.

I don't miss him at all. Maybe because he replaced Villeneuve, and now Senna got a half chance because of it. I don't know. I just don't miss him at all.

Yeah, I can't say I've really consciously noticed him not being there.
I suppose the only time that I've thought that was Melbourne, as it would've been interesting to see what he could've done there, considering what Petrov did.

I was exactly the opposite. Didn't asked what Kubica would've done in Melbourne since it was a stunning drive from Petrov, regardless of Kubica absence, but began to question if Renault's slump would be so big, or even its mere existence, in case of Kubica presence.

I guess, for me, it was more because Kubica was fresh in my mind at the start of the year, and since the world of F1 moves fast, I've sort of gradually forgotten about him as the year went on.

And on all seriousness... No, I don't. He's nice to have around, but I aren't exactly missing him.

Re: Do you miss Robert Kubica
Just as with Schumacher's retirement, or Montoya and Raikkonen walking away, F1 has once again proved that it is much bigger than one man.
Really only for the first few races, where Renault were looking good did I find myself thinking about Kubica, and whether he would have been able to do a better job than Petrov and Heidfeld, but after Renault's early promise faded, so did the thoughts of Kubica.
I still like him, and would be happy to see him back, but his absence is not a game-changer and in that sense I havn't missed him much.

I miss him in the way that it would be cool to have another driver capable of podiums/wins this year.
Re: Do you miss Robert Kubica
I think I agree with what seems to be the general consensus here - I am glad he is making a good recovery, it would have been interesting to see where Lada-Renault would have ended up this year relative to Mercedes with him in the car, but I haven't missed him per se. I would miss him if he never raced again, however.

Re: Do you miss Robert Kubica
I too have forgotten about him most of the time, admittedly - but I really wish he can make a comeback, he's not only one of my favourite drivers and one of the best F1 drivers today, but also one of the best human beings on the grid, always so humble and cordial.
Re: Do you miss Robert Kubica
I have to disagree with virtually everyone in this thread. I miss Robert Kubica a lot.
Every week, I google his name and check his website to try and get updates on his condition, mostly finding interviews where Boullier flip-flops on weather or not he will be in the car this year.
I want Robert Kubica back in F1 for 3 reasons. First, irrespective of how he performs, his return would be nothing short of heroic, on par with Niki Lauda in 1976. Don't lose sight of the fact that this is a man who should more than likely be dead, or an amputee. Second, and though this may be naive of me in light of the circumstances: I think Kubica is a man who may still have his time to show how high his talent can take him, in the way Jenson Button has in the Brawn and McLaren. Third: If Renault are ever going to win another race, they are going to need someone to lead the team and drive the car on the ragged edge, and we've seen who can do both of those things.
Having him absent from each race hasn't put a damper on my season, but I haven't forgotten that one of my favorite F1 drivers is missing from his home.

Re: Do you miss Robert Kubica
I agree with F1000X.
Were he here, most likely we'd have a ding-dong battle for 4th between Mercedes and Renault as he'd push development and can drag that car about.
I also agree that his comeback would be Lauda-esque. If he comes back next year and is as good as he was, he'll be in the 2013 Ferrari #2 seat no questions asked.

Re: Do you miss Robert Kubica
I wonder if Renault would have been able to keep up their pace on the development side of things, where they clearly have fallen behind since the start of the season, if Kubica had driven the car.
His replacements haven't been able to fulfil the promise he had.
It would be great to have him around driving those cars again because he shows great racing action on track. May he fully recover. He's a nice guy. I've been a fan of his to some extent over the years.
But I guess he's been driving for the wrong team recently. GenII Capital Partners Racing is just a shell of what it used to be. With him absent, they have been slowly descending into hiring pay drivers.
I hope Robert Kubica will become F1 World Champion one day.

Re: Do you miss Robert Kubica
I don't even believe that Renault will be there in 2012 saw some depts they have to pay well goodluck, maybe they should talk to a guy called Williams he knows the perfect way to get money of fans and inmiddently ruine it for them
But wherent there the rumours of Kubica that doesn't like the team anymore ?
And he only want's to drive to show the other team's he's still in game ? just to leave Renault.. Well Lada uhm no lotus uhm whatever

The season hasn't exactly missed him, but he seems a nice, genuine guy who it would be great to see back at some point, both because he deserves it on talent, and the achievement that would be having almost died/lost a limb.

Nah, Ive never actually what you might call 'missed' a driver. Ive felt great sorrow when a driver has passed away, be it in the sport or out of it (Senna and Alboreto for example) but I dont recall a season that couldve benefitted from the return of someone. Conversely, I think its absolutely great and exciting that Kimi has come back but if he'd never then, meh.

Re: Do you miss Robert Kubica
I will admit I do miss him. For me it was always amazing to see what heights he could drag out of his cars. If/ when he does make a comeback it would be something as inspiring as Lauda's or Zanardi's comeback.

I would like to see him drive a car again, just to see if he could do it. But obviously not if there is any risk of doing any damage to his recovery.

Don't miss him, but having him there as another driver of more than journeyman status, capable of challenging the top half dozen, on his day, would be a bonus. I am interested to see if he can make even a moderately successful comeback (in any form of Motorsport) though. Whether his arm/hand mobility/dexterity will resolve sufficiently for him to do so, coupled with the more recent re-break of the leg in exactly the same place will make any sort of comeback, quite doubtful & would be some achievement.

Fingers crossed that's the case, F1 hasn't been the same for me since his accident.
